Haven’t played this game but the developer sounds like a douche. From what I hear though, Heroes of Newerth is the better DotA clone (IceFrog at least gave his permission for this game).

Actually you hit the nail on the head.
HoN -is- DotA, just standalone.
LoL is pretty much a new game based on the same concept. And Icefrog shouldn’t have to give permission, because it was Guinsoo who made the original DotA, and it is Guinsoo who is one of the main developers for LoL.

HoN is as much of a new game as LoL is, really. I must have confused the facts regarding why the developer of LoL is considered a dick, though.
