OCReMix wants to do Sonic 4’s music ! Spread the word !

So, it’s started out as a harmless little comment on Twitter.

We need you guys to pimp out OCR’s Sonic ReMixes on Twitter, using the hashtag #ocr4sonic4. We need logos, and graphics, and anything else you can draw to post in the forums: OCR-tan and Sonic hanging out; Sonic wearing the OCR headphones; anything you can think of! Pimp it out on your radio shows, tell your friends, spread the word! Post on Facebook, MySpace, MyFace, SpaceBook, whatever! Just get the word out!

And to any of you naysayers: even if nothing comes of it, it never hurts to try. After all, who would have thought 5 years ago that OCR would be doing the music for a Street Fighter game? But that happened, and it was great. So let’s see if we can make this happen too. (And seriously, it’s mainly for fun. So let’s have fun! LET’S SHOW ‘EM!)

Eh. I would prefer if they signed up Jun Senoue or Masato Nakamura, or if they got both of those to collaborate. That would be the ultimate, right there.

As much as I enjoy some of the "Overclocked" remixes, I think I’ll pass. I’d be much more pleased to hear the likes of Jun Senoue and friends again, assuming they pull off another soundtrack like S.A. 1 or 2. I’d be intersted in hearing something new by the composer of the first two games for this one as well.

Edit: At least it’s good to see I’m not the only one thinking long the same lines. I noticed above a collaboration? Highly interesting as well.

Yeah, I’d like to see a combination of the original Sonic 3 & Knuckles sound team (Jun Senoue, Tetsuyuki Maeda, Masaru Setsumaru, Tomonori Sawada, Masayuki Nagao, Sachio Ogawa & Howard Drossin) with some of the newer composers that have appeared like Richard Jacques, Fumie Kumatani, Yutaka Minobe and some others I can’t list off the top of my head.

And a new main theme composed by Crush 40 would be nice. Their main theme’s for the Sonic franchise have always been a huge success over the years. If given the task, I’d hope they do it.

As much as I enjoy listening to OC remixes, I just don’t think they’re up for composition. At least nothing this major. I mean I haven’t heard the soundtrack the made for the new Street Fighter II so I could be wrong. But I think they should stick with remixing, not composing. They are named OCRemix after all.

Some of their members (djpretzel, Another Soundscape, etc…) composed music for video games. For example, Big Giant Circles will compose the music of Mass Effect 2 with Jack Wall. A one-time chance in life !

Yeah, for the moment, this is just a (big) rumor. But there’s a chance.

Oh, and you should give a listen to the SS2HD soundtrack, it’s pretty cool and free to download 😉

they could always make their own game or maybe one of those homebrew games. or prehaps a pc rpg.

Unfortunately almost none of my facebook friends even give a shit about Sonic the Hedgehog, OCremix, or any of its music, so me posting it would most likely turn me into a big dripping pariah with a rapidly emptying friend list. :/

He said, "You can’t count on only them to make music." As in there could very well be a lot of less professional people getting involved than just the big names. He wasn’t insulting OCR, just being a realist.

I personally think SEGA comes out with some of the best video game music out there – I really like Sonic 2006’s level music. So while I actually really like OCRemix (It makes up a good third of my library), I would rather have Jun Senoue and folks do it.

Jun Senoue or Masato Nakamura over these folks anyday. VGM remixes are not my thing at all. The orignals is where it’s at for me.

Sounds just as standard as any other soundtrack, which isn’t bad, but I still prefer the Genesis version of the soundtrack. I know the gist was REMIX, but I would have been impressed if it had been original work and sounded just as good. If they do work on the Sonic 4 soundtrack and it turns out, which I don’t think it would be bad, then I may reverse my opinion on future soundtracks.

Hmmmm… another work with OCRemix huh? Well to be honest, while they did do an incredibly fantastic job on SFIIHD, we all know that that game was a throwback for all the old school gamers who grew up with SFII, like myself. I thought that letting the people who loved the game do the music for it was a great idea, especially since it was just the same songs we knew to begin with. I believe that a proper composer would be best for a new title, so long as they do what they said they’d do and keep it old school with a few new twists. A revisiting of the style of the great songs of the first 3 Sonics would be awesome! If they decided to make a new upgraded edition of the old Sonic games though, then I would be all for the OC community to do the music for the games, without a doubt.

To be fair, they’re more acquaintances than friends.

If they brought back Masato Nakamura to compose, that would make me a very happy Gaignun.

Of course, I wouldn’t be opposed to SEGA allowing Jun Senoue or even Richard Jacques to compose, as their soundtracks seldom disappoint.

I’m enough ignorant to say I don’t know the two composers named but if only all of them could share parts of the OST creation it would be divine

Think of Oboro Muramasa OSTs, various artists, various tastes, a perfect game

Or let OCRemix and Jun Senoue and co. both make one, and make them both avaiable in the game.

It would be a great idea, and everyone would be happy, although the game’s size would grow. But hell, it’s a complete game, so anyone who wants it is going to have to have some memory on his console.

Definitely let Fumie Kumatani make some songs for the game. He (Or she? I seriously can’t tell by the name.) made pretty much all of the Rouge themes and I love them all.

Rouge’s level themes.. I don’t really know what to say about them other than they were nothing short of amazing. So I agree on this.

I would prefer the music to remain like it is in the 3D Sonic games like the Adventure Series. But i doubt that will happened hence the name Sonic the Hedgehog 4

I wouldn’t mind it if Crush 40 & Jun Senoue contributed a few new tracks while the people at OCRemix created remastered versions of some of the original songs throughout the series (similar to the remastered tracks fans are making for the fanmade Sonic2 HD remake). Because I’m sure this game will allow ample opportunity to implement a variety of classic songs and new songs alike.

I guess what I’m really saying is, I wouldn’t choose one over the other. I’d probably just have them all contribute if they were interested.
