I know, I concur!
Can i add your link to my topic on Halo soundtracks?
I was wondering the same thing…
I give you my point of view of Halo’s music fan.
Track 1 to 6: I’m very very disappointed. It brings nothing to the Halo’s universe… Even me I can take tracks from the Halo 2 soundtrack and create a new release… Nothing new, just so bad…
Track 7 – Desperate Measure: First unique piece of music from Halo Legends (finally!!!). The beginning of the song is well-known by Halo’s fans. I’m not really good to describe songs, moreover in English. Here, for me, there is nothing memorable. It’s quite mediocre…
Track 8 – Cairo Suite & Track 9 – Delta Halo Suite: Nothing new, it’s on the Halo 2 soundtracks…I’m maybe a little bit severe but it’s very very close… if it’s not exactly the same tracks…
Track 10 – Machines and might: First good piece of music… Again, nothing memorable but maybe the first interesting original track from Halo Legends.
Track 11 – Remembrance: Nothing new here. Listen the Original Soundtrack of Halo 2 (the same name of track)
Track 12: Blade and Burden: First great song. It has clearly japonese consonances but I like this different style. For me even if it’s very different of the previous albums of Halo, but it’s quite in line of Halo. It’s not unbelievable, it’s short but it works!
Track 13 – Steel and light: Clearly Japanese. It’s a calm and serene song. It’s not bad but we have to admit that it’s very far from Halo… Not very very interesting for me…
Track 14 – Impend[/U][/B]: It comes from the Halo 2 Original soundtracks but contrary from the first remixes songs(?), these one is enough different and original to bring something in the Halo universe. It’s not very fresh but it’s a beautiful piece of music.
Track 15 – True Arbiter: Great song here!! It’s with very great pleasure that I listened it. It was a song that I expected to be on this album. I remember that it was present one the episode: “The Duel”.
It’s clearly a new theme with this Japanese style specific to Halo Legends. But by moments we can recognize some cues from the Halo original universe. I think that all Halo’s fans won’t like it but for me it sounds great and really bring something to the Halo universe.
Track 16 – The Maw: It comes from the Halo: Combat evolved original soundtrack… It’s the same theme, just a little bit different but I really prefer the original song, more emotional for me
Track 17 – Unforgotten: I love this song which comes from the Halo 2 Original soundtrack and which was present in a great different version on the Halo 3 soundtrack… It’s very emotional and sad… but in the same time I find it epic, no?
Yes it’s beautiful but there is absolutely nothing new here…
Track 18 – Shattered Legacy: New theme. It’s sad with chorus… It’s maybe less japonese. It’s beautiful but it’s hard to find a link with the Halo’s universe. I like it but it’s not amazing.
Track 19 – Out of darkness: Still a new song here. Nothing memorable. I consider it like a transition track and not a complete theme.
Track 20 – High Charity Suite 2: It’s not a new theme, it’s a remix from the High Charity Suite from Halo2 but here like for Impend, it’s enough different from the original to be interesting. Moreover, I find it more epic than the original. Good point!
Track 21 – Into light: Short good piece of music here. Unfortunately, it’s too short to create a real new theme.
Track 22 – Sacred Icon Suite: Great track here. Good stuff! Moreover, in the HALO 2 OST, the Sacred Icon suite wasn’t epic. Here it is! It’s a shame that it is so short… It appears like a common point to many tracks from this CD…
Track 23 – Rescue Mission: We can easily recognize the influence of Halo 2 here. Like for the last remixes, it’s really different and bring something. But still a time, it’s too short -_-‘
Why is it so short?
Track 24 – The Last Spartan[/B]: THE great theme for Halo 2 used notably in the first impressing trailer of Halo 2 in 2004. Great theme but almost nothing new here even if the second part is a little bit different.
Track 25 – High Charity quartet: Nothing new here…
Track 26 – Here in peril[/B]: It’s short… and it’s a shame because I’m persuaded that if it was more developed, it should have been a great track. I like the increase of power of the song (Can we say that for a song in English?)
Track 27 – Earth City: Track quite interesting because the theme from Halo 2 is very beautiful and I think it’s a good remix. But it’s not one of my favorite songs here.
Track 28 – Risk and reward: In a first time before listening, I was still disappointed by the length of the track (only 50 sec!!!). Fuck… When they compose, they compose only for 1 minute at each time? Its definitively not a traditional album of a Halo’s videogame. It’s too short again to make a real complete theme in the Halo universe… (Unfortunately because I really like the music between 00:20 and 00:25 and the end of the track).
Track 29 – Exit Window: It’s good to have a complete track (2:30min)! I like the combination of suspense and epic dimensions in this one. It’s a great track which is more close to certain movies and TV Shows of science fiction (maybe certain suites from Stargate SG-1 from Joel Goldsmith) than to Halo but it sounds almost perfect!
Track 30 – Finale 2[/U][/B]: I have a special feeling for this one… I love it, really. It’s a good mix between the Halo theme but with some real unique parts notably the beginning. It’s not so unbelievable but it works for me. But I was persuaded to have a real long finale track with more themes imbricated.
My Rating: 13/20
If you don’t know well the Halo music, you’ll probably find that it’s a very good release. For me, in conclusion, I have retained 8 good themes (with 4 completely new Halo themes). It’s a shame to have so much original themes here without modification (or almost…), notably the 6 first.
Simple:
The pieces are orchestrated by the Dynamedion music team in Germany and performed by the Staatskapelle Halle orchestra.
Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I’ll give it a listen.
