All of these files are currently hosted on my own server (simply because unless I take it down it stays there), however, I’m on the joys of Australian internet and only have so much download/upload to go through in a month (between a household of 6 users). If anyone is happy to upload a mirror, I’ll gladly put it up in the post. Would of had this up yesterday, but being a public holiday I didn’t get any mail.
Besides, me saving bandwidth means I can possibly get lossless (or at least a 320) up for the full OST in a few days 😉
Enjoy! Sharing is caring after all!

You’re a champ! I’ll get that into the OP 😀 <3
And in advance for the future OST.
There are two download links, one for 192kbps MP3 and one for Lossless. The Mirror is for lossless. It’s all clearly stated there. I can’t do FLAC versions, so m4a will have to do, but it’s the same thing and plays in 90% of media players around the world..
Will the actual OST include all of the tracks that are currently in the Darkside Symphony and Limited Edition Type A?
Going by the capcom.jp website the Symphony is a sampler disc, essentially, of key tracks from the main OST, so yes the 10 tracks featured here will be on the main OST. However, that said, the only thing we’re not sure on is if they’re pulling a Biohazard 5 on us and leaving the full orchestral work on just this disc (like they did with Select Track from the e-Capcom special edition) and having digital versions of them on the main OST to substitute. We know for sure that Alexia Type II battle has a digital version; the full digital with the extended chorus was featured in the Game of Oblivion trailer so they have made them. Also things like the Malformation of G IV and V were straight digital tracks (IV is a dead give away due to the choir samples).
LAW’S isn’t scheduled to appear on the OST to our current knowledge but no tracklist is up yet (again, the OST only came out today in Japan). We’ll know likely tomorrow what the full list is.
I have no doubt that they’re on the full OST album, but if you’re just interested in the orchestral material, you won’t be needing anything further than the symphony. It would make no sense to withhold the orchestral recordings from the soundtrack, because the symphony is a bonus and isn’t available for sale. Why else would you leave the most expensive, prestigious part of your score off the main CD if you weren’t trying to sell it on an additional disk?
As for the music… BLIMEY. Hirano’s orchestrations are absolutely delicious and it never ceases to amaze me how much power, chaos, and unbridled excitement he can conjure up with an undersized orchestra such as this. Obviously his talents are better appreciated on something like Final Fantasy XIII (which was recorded with a full scale symphony) but his work on Darkside Chronicles is exemplary too.
Thanks again for the post. I would never have been able to hear this had you not posted, since I’m not a gamer and therefore would never have actually purchased the game!
Can we get the Darkside Symphony Special CD in 320? If not, no bigee. 🙂 Just thought I’d ask.
Thanks!
its fine. m4a goes on the ipod.
Many Kudos!
I’m going to use Biohazard 5 as an example again. The main OST (even the limited press version) contains digital only tracks of the boss music which, in the game, used orchestrations in their place. The only way to obtain those orchestrated pieces is with the Select Track CD from the Japanese release of the game (specifically the limited edition version, either the standard tin or the e-Capcom special pack).
It’s something they’ve done before, which is why I’m wondering if they’ll do it again.
Which leads me to…
Have you noticed a very important piece missing from the Symphony? It was known in the Gamerip as "Operation Javier" and is a full 3:42 piece for orchestra. I’ll bet you 50 that it shows up on the OST. :/

Hahaha XD It probably will. The credit line is also a full orchestral piece that runs for 4:19 and has the final lyrics to Manuela’s Lulaby which will make it. Hopefully. I mean, Bio5 had some of their full orchestra in-game pieces remain too, it was only a select (oh god the pun given the singles name) 5 tracks which were digital on the OST, 4 of which were boss themes, and Plan of Uroboros which was the second piece for the credits.
That said Amazon.jp just updated their listing with the tracklist in the middle of typing this. They don’t explicitly say digital or not. :\ Capcoooooooom!

Methinks they’re taking the Mike.
They’re from the new Wii game Darkside Chronicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkside_Chronicles). I suppose, in a way, it is a compilation because it features souped-up versions of tracks from previous games (2 and Code Veronica I believe). Darkside Symphony is basically a sampler of (some) of the orchestral pieces..
I’m looking forward to the full OST greatly. I quite like a few of the synth / quasi-orchestral tracks, like Nosferatu, and I think you need some quiter material as well to break up the relentless orchestral action.
Methinks they’re taking the Mike.
i can see where your going with this. this is just a sampler which is fair enough. its a small goodie that comes with this special collectors edition of the game, compelte with art book and making of dvd etc etc. albeit, it be more awesome if the soundtrack was just inclusive.
i have the same situation with alone in the dark where the cd was just a sampler of the real deal. i have a feeling bioshock 2 will be the same thing but the description makes me think this will break the norm.
It’s something they’ve done before, which is why I’m wondering if they’ll do it again.
That trick with Biohazard 5 OST was really sly. I didn’t expect in the first place that Capcom would do something so cheap – you know, to drop the orchestrated cues from the official OST, and use digitally synthesized instead -……. I guess that decision displeased some of the buyers….

Except from the echos of the previous compositions, the composition entitled as "Sorrow" was stupendous. Where exctaly in the game is this cue playing?

I am glad we have Takeshi Miura back (and Uchiyama Shusaku of course) to compose the score.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting it either. I was pretty pissed when I got my Bio5 OST and ta-dah! DIGITAL versions. I don’t mind digital, to be honest, since I work in digital for orchestra with arrangement work, but when they had full orchestral pieces in the game it was a good kick to the gut. So it was a nice surprise when the e-Capcom edition of 5 appeared on my doorstep (by ways of my partner getting me an anniversary present, bless him) it had the disc with Wataru Hokoyama’s orchestral arrangements. I am proud to have shaken that man’s hand and to have said thank you for them because the full orchestra arrangements he re-wrote of the key battle pieces were amazing.
Sorrow was used during the Steve battle in the final chapter of Game of Oblivion. It’s probably my most adored piece from the whole game (and that says a lot given that Alexia’s battle pieces are very sentimental to me, the re-arranges of them are amazing and really captivating but there is a very raw and powerful drive behind Sorrow)
have the orchestrations from RE5 been posted here in lossless or another format? i had no idea about this. the orchestrated action music is what i loved.
If they haven’t I have all of them ripped in 320, but I can make a lossless rip as well and put them up as part of the +Bonus incentive 🙂 Just say the word and I’ll do it.
is that the only orchestral tracks for RE5 all on the select track cd or your gamerip has more? i mean 3 cd official is enough music, but its those orchestral action tracks that were the business.
It’s not a gamerip, it’s an official CD that was issued. The tracklisting is as follows:
Opening – Chris’s Arrival-
An Emergency
A Big Despair
Wind of Madness
Deep Ambition
Pray -Theme Song-
Plan of Uroboros
All of these tracks, bar Opening and Pray were included on the Bio5 OST as digital only versions. 🙂 It’s the only way to get the orchestral tracks, asides from actually doing a rip from the game discs.
It’s not a gamerip, it’s an official release (not stand-alone of course)

This CD came exclusively with the Japanese Xbox 360 version of the game.

Thankyou I was Waiting for it, Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, and this is and Amazing Uplaod, so Much Mirrors Thanyou!!!!
arctic.viper, if it’s not too much trouble, can I ask you to upload the scans also separately for those who already own the OST? Thanks in advance.
Ah! Just for info: 320kbps Constant bitrate is uselessly big, V0 Variable Bitrate offers the same quality with a smaller filesize. You really can save yourself the trouble of uploadin’ an MP3 version, just link to my upload…. quality-wise is the best MP3 encode we can get.
Ya that is correct. 320Kbps MP3 preset is useless nowadays.
VBR V0 is the best. Besides all lossless econders have variable bit rates. Variable bit rate is the key.

Very interesting orchestrations by Hirano, like the reviewer mentions
Yoshihisa Hirano reserves the orchestral tutti for the battles with the title’s ultimate foe. Originally the final boss theme in Resident Evil 2, "The Third Malformation of ‘G’" sounds more bombastic than ever. Like the original, it combines an operatic vocal interpretation of the game’s main theme with stabbing militaristic instrumentals. However, thanks to the greatly improved production values, a true soprano now performs the theme in conjunction with numerous brass and percussion players. Yoshihisa Hirano’s orchestration enhances the Herrmann-esque sound of the original and also introduces numerous experimental features, such as dissonant piano clusters, eerie trombone glissandi, and a web of countermelodies. The sound is distinctly odd and unsettling, even compared with the original, but the effect is so fitting and impacting nevertheless.
thank you

Found only this with google, it’s missing a line:
Sleep, my love as the trees above protect you from the dark
A great evil will watch you as you dream until time
Sleep, my love, close your eyes…. And when you are waking the new day will bring to you a bright new world
Sleep, my love as the birds above do rest their weary wings
Let the rain play a gentle song to help your dreams sing
Sleep, my love, close your eyes…. And when you are waking the new day will bring to you a bright new world
Ever so gently hear my voice
Ever so softly feel my touch
*Missing*
So go to sleep, my love.
