Movie Soundtrack tracks in Chronological Order

Hey everyone,

I’ve been searching for well over an hour now for a site (it was actually another forum) where people were posting dozens of movie track-lists, rearranged into the order that they were played in their respective films. As I’m sure many of you know, movie soundtracks are often released out of order from the way they were scored, sometimes for aesthetic reasons or otherwise. However, I’d really like to find the chronological track orders , since that’s the way I prefer to listen to soundtracks. Does anyone know the forum I’m talking about, or another comparable website?

To make some tiny contribution, here are a couple of track orders I got from the website about six months ago, before it seemed to have slipped off of the face of the earth:

Jurassic Park – 1,3,4,6,13,8,9,10,12,14,11,5,15,7 [tracks 2 and 16 are themes and appear within other tracks]
Batman (Score) – 1,2,3,4,8,5,6,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,2 1
Star War: The Phantom Menace – 1,5,4,10,13,7,11,9,8,6,14,12,15,16,17 [tracks 2 and 3 are themes and appear within other tracks]

I think these are pretty accurate – the orders are taken from that forum except for the stuff in brackets which I wrote myself. (I think the two tracks in the "Jurassic Park" soundtrack were just excluded from the new order, while the two tracks from the "Star Wars" soundtrack were left in their original positions). Anyway, if someone finds that website please let me know! Otherwise, feel free to post your own soundtrack orders if you feel confident in them. Now I’m off to determine the chronological order of the "Surf Ninjas" soundtrack….

I don’t lose my sleep to know if a score is presented in chronological order or not. And sometimes a complete and chronological order of a score doesn’t mean a better listening experience. So that’s why i always evaluate an album like they are first presented on the disc, as that’s the way the composers want us to appreciate they work, regardless the album is in the chronological or not, or if it’s the complete score.

Thanks. That jwfan page is exactly the one I had been looking for when I first posted. As for people’s preferences, I certainly don’t claim to have the best idea of how to listen to a film’s soundtrack. I understand that often times composer’s put their tracks in a specific order on the album for a reason (or edit them into suites, and whatnot). Often times the arrangements are interesting and entertaining. On the other hand, just because the music’s creators want it heard a certain way doesn’t mean I’m going to agree with them. In general, I vastly prefer a chronological listening experience. After all, the music was composed (or at least edited) to accompany action in a certain order wasn’t it? A film is a collaborative effort, and I like the music to remind me of the film’s story rather than a collection of its themes.

Anyway, to each their own of course. Certainly people who prefer the unedited albums have the composers on their side! Thanks for the links!
