Also, Chaos has like, 250k hp. It is somewhat of an endurance battle if you get it right.
Your characters don’t all need to be 999HP, but ~750 and up is good enough. I think it is the physical fighters that most need to have high hp so that you are not reviving them constantly.
If I recall correctly…
If you can, better go pick them up, otherwise I really don’t have any suggestions for you other than using Invisira and Protera with your White Wizard non-stop and hope you win after 2 hours.
Haste doubles the hits that your characters do (which should be around 7-8, and with haste they should be 14-16) and temper increases their damage output. With these two spells you can win pretty much any fight. Actually the only ones that gave me trouble are Omega and Shinryu in Lifespring Grotto.
You really don’t have haste OR temper?! Man, I still can’t believe it.
… Actually the only ones that gave me trouble are Omega and Shinryu in Lifespring Grotto.
I beat Shinryu, barely, but Omega has decimated my team eight times, lol, and I still can’t beat it. I haven’t given it another go yet.
How did I cream the game so easily? Especially considering I’d never played a Final Fantasy game before?
This wasn’t because Master was doing GODLY damage for me. This wasn’t because both Red Wizard and Ninja knew Temper and Haste, and White Wizard knew Curaja and Invisira. This was because…
I was OBSCENELY over-leveled. OBSCENELY. I don’t know what level you’re supposed to be on when you’re about to face Tiamat, but I don’t think it was supposed to be 60-75. If it was, then how come no-one else I know can beat Death Machine in three turns with no characters dead despite a Nuke or two? I didn’t even have to heal up or save before fighting Tiamat (Which, on reflection, was stupid of me, seeing how rare it is to find Death Machine in the first place – what if some sort of fluke happened or I accidentally turned off my game while fighting Tiamat? I’d have had to spend another two hours finding Death Machine, and that would have sucked!). As for Chaos, he went down like a bunch of popped balloons…(By that time, I was level 99 with max HP, so…yeah.) I was disappointed with DoS after hearing that Final Fantasy I was super-hard and required an amazing amount of level-grinding…I guess whoever said that must’ve been playing the NES version.
So, uh…I guess the moral of the story is, if you want to be obscenely over-leveled in FFI DoS, try and complete your Bestiary for an area as soon as you enter said area, even if the enemy is really really rare and you spend the next few days searching for it, leveling yourself up in the process because you can’t be bothered to run away from all the other enemies. I don’t think I even ever level-grinded in the game after the Cornelia Bridge/Prologue scene (I leveled up to 13 to face Garland because I thought he’d be hard – boy was I wrong! Although the fact that I cast Sleep on him at the beginning of the battle with my Red Mage might be why), just Bestiary-searched.
Uh, I don’t remember what the original purpose of this post was (To recommend that you level-grind to 99 or something? Who knows?), but, yeah. Temper + Haste = Victory music
