Opinions would help, here’s a list of my library. (Only RPG’s).
Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X-2, XII, Tactics, Anthology
Legend of Legaia
Legaia 2: Dual Saga
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time
Xenosaga Ep. 1
.hack//infection
Front Mission 3
Legend of Dragoon
At work right now, may be leaving a couple games out.
Also, suggestions are welcome, but if it’s an older psx game, it’ll be tough to find and I won’t go after it (at least not when I’m broke). The series like Xenogears and .hack I would make a Gamestop stop and check prices on sequals as well.
If you have a PS2 then I’d also say play Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. Great game.
Also, I don’t think I’ve heard much about the game you reccommend, but I’ll look into it, thanks.

For PSX I’d recommend:
Suikoden, Suikoden II
Vandal Hearts, Vandal Hearts II
Front Mission 3
For PS2:
Legaia 2 Dual Saga
Star Ocean Til the End of Time
Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts Covenant
Suikoden V (I wouldn’t recommend Suikoden IV or Suikoden Tactics, as imo the story in them was quite lacklustre. However if you like games like FFT and FM3, give Suikoden Tactics a try. Similar style gameplay)
Didn’t care much for SO3 despite being a fan of the earlier two in the series.
Well, I guess you could do it with any ball with break damage limit, tbh.
Still, I want to give you Kudos, so I shall!
If I were you I’d do like I did and hit up FFXII next. Then again, FF is one of the only series’ I’ve been into for a couple years, so maybe I’m a little rusty on other titles :O
Legend of Legaia is a good time. Neat story, nice music, fun battle system.
Oh, Legaia is my favorite RPG! I love that game, currently have a save around level 40, going for all 99’s. THAT is a dismal task imo, so slow on the leveling.
You cleared the monster arena without World Champion? Kudos.
I reached my brick wall in X man, played it so much I just get tired of looking at it. I did unlock the entire Arena, short of Nemesis of course. I’ve beaten a few of the easy bosses with a custom Wakka weapon. I’ll always come back and try to clear them all on one save. You can keep your Kudos until then!
Congrats on finishing up FFX; not an easy task! Well, unless you’ve got Anima and the Magus Sisters 😉
Thanks, FFX is a grind downing Sin and the last few bosses. They’re easy enough, just time consuming. I’ve also played XII recently enough to not want to play it again right now. 😉
As for my next game! It’s down to FFX-2 (ONLY for ‘storyline closure’ I swear!), Valkyrie Profile 2, and Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, which I forgot to mention. Of course I’ll end up jumping from game to game until I find something that drags me in.
Thanks for the input, and lets keep the thread open eh? What’s everyone else hacking through right now? (Different from the ‘currently gaming’ thread I promise!) 😀
Of course, after I learned how to handle battles and equipment more effectively, it was easier to level up and get through the dungeons quicker. The second half of the game is like OMG and makes me wonder why the game didn’t get better reviews or more praise.
But I guess you’re giving all of them a shot, you’ll see for yourself.
I think I’m inspired to go replay it now ;x
I did play it for about an hour when I bought it, I thought it was pretty cool how you could freeze enemies/objects to climb up and down in dungeons. For some reason I turned it off, I think it was the navigation/sidescrolling I didn’t like at first. I’ll be sure to pick it up again if the second half of it is as good as you say.
After I turned off FFX last night I immediately grabbed X-2, but then I realized it was 4am so I went to bed. I’m still not sure what I’ll end up playing, one of the reasons I hate the end of December, I have so much more time (out of school) that I actually have trouble picking a game.
Didn’t care much for SO3 despite being a fan of the earlier two in the series.
yeah i liked 2 best out of the three… seemed as if there were a ton of items. oh and i loved 2’s creation system. 3’s was kinda dorky.
Yea Legaia is my favorite certainly, it’s always on the list. 😉
The current game is, FFX-2! Out of nowhere!
Just got to Besaid for the first time, where my other attempts ended up dieing, but I’ll try to keep it moving this time. I acutally levelled Paine and Rikku when I was chasing the Imposter in the very start of the game. Standing next to the moogle save point and they shot up to level 5 each after the ‘boss’ battle. (I’m always a fan of a few extra levels).
It’s….good. A little annoying with the music and overall style of it, but not as much as I remember. It is a little ‘girl power!’ but it looks like it can turn into a good game.
I would reccomend FFVII, but that’s just me.
– Front Mission 3 & Final Fantasy Tactics (that one fight on the rooftop ungh, what a b—-!) were really super hard games to me, but I love the music to both these games.
– Legend of Legaia is ok…
– Legend of Dragoon is alright, but once you get this one item, the battle system basically turns into a regular RPG…
– Star Ocean 3, eh… got through it… I like Star Ocean 2 better.
Neg, I never finished Episode 1 sadly, I really need to get back to it.
