Welcome all to the Final Fantasy X Trivia thread! Most other FF’s have one and I felt that FFX not having one was just plain wrong. Before we start, let’s set up 1 simple rule:
"Whoever asks a question, gets to give the next question to whoever answered correctly. ONLY the guy/girl who posted the question gets to do that. If he/she hasn’t replied in 48 hours, free question for whoever wants it."
Please follow it. It’ll make things easier. If you think there are more rules that should be added let me know.
That being said let’s start with an easy question:
Who said the following line, and where?
"Pick spot. Shut up. Wait."
Seru_Kai
12-04-2009, 06:35 PM
This is technically cheating, since I JUST played this part last night….
Kimahri says it, in the Djose Temple, when Yuna is praying to the fayth and they are all just waiting.
Smarty
12-04-2009, 07:06 PM
I would call it pretty damn good luck. I was expecting people to know who said it, but I thought that maybe remembering the temple would be somewhat of a challenge.
Anyways you got it perfectly right. Your turn.
Seru_Kai
12-04-2009, 07:19 PM
Yea, I’m playing my 11th game of FFX right now, although I’ve beaten it 2 times….its the Calm Lands, my games always stop there!
As for the question!
Wakka upgrades Tidus’ starting weapon at one point in the game, what abilites does he add to it? (The starting weapon being the one Wakka gives him, not the one Auron gives him in Zanarkand).
Smarty
12-04-2009, 07:49 PM
The original ability of the Brotherhood(the sword that Wakka gives to Tidus) is a "Strength +5%". After a certain point in the game (i think it’s in guadosalam but i’m not sure) 3 more are added. "Sensor", "Strength +10%", and "Waterstrike".
Seru_Kai
12-04-2009, 07:56 PM
Very good, I just got through Guadosalam (sp?) and that was the only decent question I could think of.
Your turn! I wonder if anyone else is going to join in haha
Smarty
12-04-2009, 08:35 PM
Yeah I think i’ll wait before posting so that other people can join in too. In fact free question to whoever wants it except you Seru Kai. More people here would make it more fun.
Seru_Kai
12-04-2009, 09:20 PM
Your 100th post was to banish my questions?! Nooooooooo.
And I’m at work too, what am I going to do for the next 8 hours!
Agent0042
12-05-2009, 12:05 AM
When speaking with Rin for the first time, how does Tidus mispronounce the Al Bhed for "Nice to meet you"?
Seru_Kai
12-05-2009, 12:37 AM
….I hate you for this question
I think it’s something like ‘Heya do sadwee’. I’m fairly confident on the ending, just not the beginning.
Slavka
12-05-2009, 01:55 AM
Is it not ‘helly doo sad wee’?
I haven’t even played FFX for ages, nor do I really like it, but that sticks with me for some reason.
Agent0042
12-05-2009, 01:56 AM
Yeah, you got it. "Helly doo sad wee" it is (the correct Al Bhed being "Hela du saad oui.") Your question, if you want it.
Slavka
12-05-2009, 04:02 AM
My memory of X is a little hazy, so I’ll leave this as a free question. I don’t think I recall anything trivia worthy, so yeah, up for grabs to anyone who wants it.
Seru_Kai
12-05-2009, 04:08 AM
(Thanks for the free question)
When you first aquire Rikku, there’s a battle tutorial. Whats the name of the Mix combination that you make, and what is it made of?
jewess crabcake
12-05-2009, 04:21 AM
I believe she made fireststorm, and it was made from 2 bomb fragments?
Seru_Kai
12-05-2009, 05:36 AM
I’m saying that’s correct, I know the second part is, and I think it is called firestorm.
For some reason I just can’t think of it right now. Your question though
7alentine
12-06-2009, 01:33 AM
come on come on ask a question
Seru_Kai
12-06-2009, 11:13 PM
It’s been a couple days, so I’ll go ahead and ask one.
What is the order of magic spells that Seymour casts when you first fight him, in Macalania Temple. (And yes, there is an order).
7alentine
12-06-2009, 11:20 PM
If I remember correctly… Ice, Lightning, Water, Fire?
Seru_Kai
12-06-2009, 11:27 PM
Ah, that is correct! I wasn’t expecting an answer so soon.
Your question.
7alentine
12-07-2009, 03:56 AM
haha right place right time, thats all
What is the one enemy in the game that, excluding Yojimbo’s Zanmato, you can NOT kill?
Agent0042
12-07-2009, 04:08 AM
Is it the Magic Pot?
Seru_Kai
12-07-2009, 04:21 AM
You mean besides Sin? 🙂

Okay, who was it that sealed the Qactuars in the Qactuar Stones?
was that ever mentioned? i played the game through a lot of times including sidequests but i don’t remember this at all.
Seru_Kai
12-07-2009, 06:21 PM
I thought it was mentioned during the Kimahri ultimate weapon quest. Can’t quite remember though.
Agent0042
12-07-2009, 11:40 PM
It was mentioned. However, since it seems to be stumping people, I’ll give a hint– if you tell me whose name the Thunder Plains carries ("Thunder Plains" isn’t the full name of the place) you’ll have the answer.
Domingo
12-08-2009, 04:14 AM
That would the Gandalf… err, Gandof Thunder Plains… if memory serves me.
Agent0042
12-08-2009, 07:03 AM
You got it, Domingo. Your go.
Hey guys, I hope I’m not cheating here, but I’d just like to make a little contribution here; hopefully I’m not breaking the rules by not answering a question first, but I’d just like to have a little fun.
What does Tidus accidentally call the Macalania Temple when he first hears of it and tells the others that Seymour has gone there?
Seru_Kai
12-09-2009, 12:10 AM
It’s courteous to let the person that got the last question right to ask the next question. But if they don’t respond in 24 or 48 hours, its an open question. Don’t worry about it this time since you just joined us here.
And to answer yours, Tidus calls it ‘Macarina Temple’
Sorry about that; I was kinda afraid to post that, but I just couldn’t resist; that moment in the game made me crack up! 😀 But definitely next time I’ll answer a question first 😉
Seru_Kai
12-10-2009, 03:31 PM
I’ll post one.
There’s a chest in the game that you can choose what reward you get. There is only one of these iirc. List ALL the things you can get in that chest.

If you told Clasko that he should become a chocobo breeder, you find him later on the S.S. Liki having taken on that job. He seems to be happy in his new job and gives you something, saying that he found it in one of the chocobo nests, but it’s no use to him. What does he give you?
Seru_Kai
12-12-2009, 10:11 PM
I’m taking a wild guess and going with some Level 4 Key Spheres. Honestly, I had no idea though.
Agent0042
12-12-2009, 10:12 PM
Nope, sorry, that’s not it.
Seru_Kai
12-12-2009, 10:14 PM
Oi! Shot down 1 minute later, nice timing. I’ll try and think of better guesses. can’t be anything too important though, seeing as how you can not tell him to choose the breeder job. I shall be back!

12-13-2009, 01:40 AM

Yeah, you got it. Friend Sphere it is. Your go.
Seru_Kai
12-13-2009, 06:01 AM
Sweetness.
There’s a method you can use to pick your Blitzball League prizes that you want without having to play a bunch of games. Example, it makes it easier getting Wakka’s Overdrives/Sigil/Jecht Shot II. Describe the steps you take to use this method.
If this question is too vague just let me know.
Smarty
12-13-2009, 12:18 PM
It is too vague. And I know what you’re talking about. I also know it’s a lot of stuff to write down…
Seru_Kai
12-13-2009, 05:11 PM
I knew it when I posted it haha, only thing I could think of really.
After you finish a League (10 games)you hit the back button and save your game without looking at the new League prize. Then you can keep resting at an inn if you don’t like the League prize and it keeps refreshing it until you play a game. It helps avoiding a ton of games for Wakka’s Overdrives.
Free question.
Olde
12-14-2009, 05:47 AM
Okay, another blitzball question. Name one blitzball player who you can recruit who speaks in the game (that is, there’s a voice actor for him/her) but is not Tidus, Wakka, Brother, Rin, or any of the Besaid Aurochs or Luca Goers.
Seru_Kai
12-14-2009, 05:53 AM
Is it….Mep?
Surprisingly tough question, I’m thinking someone around the Kilika area though.
Olde
12-14-2009, 06:04 AM
Yeah, I’ll give it to you because i think he did speak. I also would have taken Kiyuri (girl who introduces Tidus to chocobos on the S.S. Likki) and Mifurey (girl in Thunder Plains Al Bhed Inn). Your turn.
Seru_Kai
12-14-2009, 06:08 AM

That was automatic, I remember I brought in Valefor to avoid it. 😉
There’s a trick to beating the Dark Flan in the Mt. Gagezet Caves, what is it? (if it’s not named Dark Flan, it’s the only Flan type enemy in the area)
Smarty
12-17-2009, 04:14 PM
Well I’m not sure if it’s a trick but all I do is use Armor Break with Auron, and after that they’re a cakewalk.

Seru_Kai
12-17-2009, 08:55 PM
Doh, I was talking to Smarty for that, but you posted as I was typing. No worries though, I honestly never threw a Silence Buster on the Dark Flan.
As for you question, do you mean the Overdrive name? Or the individual attacks you can use each time you trigger an Overdrive? (As in Bushido for Auron, or Dragon Fang, which is one of the attacks you can use).

OK it’s been 3 days and nobody’s responding.
Name the earliest possible time that Tidus can learn the Slayer and/or Warrior Overdrive mode.
Seru_Kai
12-21-2009, 06:31 PM
I didn’t think there was a specific time that you could learn it? Slayer is based off the number of killing blows, and Warrior is the number of times you damage the enemy (short of Overdrives or Items). Can’t remember the exact numbers for Tidus.

S.S. Liki?
Agent0042
12-21-2009, 11:51 PM
Anytime after being rescued from the temple by the Al Bhed? That’s the only cutoff point I can think of, since I think that’s the first point you can start getting into random encounters.
(Oh, and BTW, if you’re going to discard a previous question, at least let people know what answer you were looking for, so that they’re not in suspense anymore. Was the answer you were thinking of "Krysta"? [Yes, I looked it up.])
7alentine
12-22-2009, 02:59 AM
I’m guessing its Rikku who has the overdrive Krysta? Considering she has like a good 30 possible overdrives…
Agent0042
12-22-2009, 03:02 AM
Yeah, it’s Rikku, though she was well more than thirty. And I believe the one Zak meant was Abaddon’s Flame.
Yes, that’s what I meant. Agent’s is probably what he was looking or but I should get it because mine also works and I got it without looking anything up :p
7alentine
12-22-2009, 11:24 AM
well one of you hurry and ask a question
Smarty
12-22-2009, 02:34 PM
I didn’t think there was a specific time that you could learn it? Slayer is based off the number of killing blows, and Warrior is the number of times you damage the enemy (short of Overdrives or Items). Can’t remember the exact numbers for Tidus.
OK, maybe my question was a little vague.
The answer I wanted to hear was at Zanarkand. At the very beginning of the game, in dream Zanarkand, in a fight you can constantly attack the Sinspawns and they will keep coming back, so you can attack them again. This way both Tidus and Auron can learn the Warrior and Slayer Overdrive modes.
Slayer is especially useful for Tidus since he can learn more overdrives by performing them, and with Slayer it is relatively easy to fill the gauge. I once got Blitz Ace by the time I reached Mi’ihen.
Anyway, I’m leaving it a free question.
Agent0042

I’ll take it then.
How many missable Al Bhed Primers are there in the game?
None of them are missable because all the "missable" ones appear under a certain rock in Bikanel if you missed them, I believe. Yes, I do mean the ones on the Liki, the Al Bhed ship, Bevelle, etc.
Smarty
01-01-2010, 03:38 PM
When I say missable I mean that you only have one chance to get them. If you don’t pick them up when you are at the area they’re at you can’t come back to get them.
And I didn’t understand your post Zak…
I know that. But did you know that all of the primers that are in places you can’t go back to, if you didn’t pick them up, they appear under rocks/tents in Bikanel? Not many are aware of that though.
Like I missed the SS Liki one, but got it later in Bikanel. According to SI’s walkthrough they all eventually are available.

You can’t just move on to another to another question that quickly, it’s only been a little more than a couple days since Zak originally posted his. Seems like people are so jumpy with these trivia threads these days. Let’s give at least 24 more hours…
But, Zak, if you’re reading, we could go for a hint. I’m completely stumped myself– I’ve never heard of Tromell having a sister.
Yeah 7alentine, who the fuck do you think you are? It’s usually when people guess and the person who asked doesn’t respond that people do that. I was the last to post, and I was the one asking, so back off thx.
And okay, here’s a hint, you can run into her very early in the game before you even know Tromell exists.
Is she encountered in Luca the first time before departing for the pilgrimage again?
Yep! Walking around in the town square. She says something about her brother working as Seymour’s personal servant/bodyguard for years.
Your question Centercore!

01-05-2010, 01:07 AM
dude there’s no reason to go off at me
Yessssssss, I’m glad I remember that 😉
Okay, here’s mine.. What are the species’ of beasts who appear not only in Omega Ruins, but also inside Sin (including the last room just before facing Braska’s Final Aeon)?
Smarty
01-05-2010, 07:36 AM
You mean beasts specifically or just any monsters?
Yea, just anything at all that you’d encounter in both 😉
Smarty
01-05-2010, 07:47 AM
In that case:
Great Malboro
Ahriman
Adamantoise
Gemini(I think)
Wraith
Demonolith
Ehhh that’s all I remember.
Very close; there’s one you got wrong, and a couple you missed though. But nice try!
Here’s a hint; one is very, very rare in both places. So rare, in fact, that he only appears in the room just before facing Braska’s Final Aeon while inside Sin, nowhere else. He’s also rare in Omega Ruins.
Smarty
01-05-2010, 08:37 AM
I’m assuming the Gemini are wrong and that really rare monster must be Barbatos(or something of the sort I don’t exactly remember). I didn’t mention it because I don’t remember encountering in the Omega Ruins.
Seru_Kai
01-05-2010, 08:51 AM
Master Tonberry! Land Worm!
I’m wrong I know 🙁
And what was the monster that casted Meteor everytime it died? It may have been a Sin only monster though.
Smarty
01-05-2010, 08:55 AM
That’s Behemoth King. And I think it is exclusive to Sin. Master Tonberry is exclusive to Omega Ruins. And Land Worm is exclusive to Sin I think.
Hope you’re not thinking of the Land Worm, because that only appears in that one room, nowhere else in the whole game, not even Omega Ruins.
Anyway I’m pretty sure I remember fighting Gemini in the fog area before Seymour Omnis, but nowhere else inside Sin. You say Smarty got ONE wrong, and missed TWO?
Well, from what Smarty said, I’m pretty sure Ahriman is wrong, because I remember the Omega bat-eye monsters are "Floating Death". Ahriman may be inside Sin, but I doubt Omega would have two kinds of bats.
So… what Smarty said, minus Ahriman, and plus… is the Varuna one? I think I remember them in the final room with the icicles.
So my list would consist of:
Great Malboro
Varuna
Adamantoise
Gemini
Wraith
Demonolith
You sure there’s another? Does it also appear only in that room? If not, I THINK Barbatos might appear in Omega on top level on one of the pillars?
Ahh, great job Zak! You’re right on the money! That hidden monster is indeed the Varuna. Smarty got Ahriman wrong; the Omega Ruins’ flying menace is known as the Floating Death. Great try though!
You’re up Zak 😀
Smarty
01-05-2010, 08:28 PM
Ouch. I really didn’t think it was Varuna. And the flying monsters=fail. Anyway you’re up Zak
Okay this shouldn’t be too hard. What two characters’ Celestial Weapons don’t have anything to do with causing an aeon to break damage limit?
BTW I updated IX rumble 🙂
Smarty
01-07-2010, 09:27 PM
You’re right it is too easy 😉
Those weapons would be Tidus’ Caladbolg and Rikku’s Godhand.
And nice job on updating IX rumble!
Smarty

I can’t even think of a half-decent question… Anyway how about this:
In Macalania lake after defeating the Al Bhed you get to ride their motorcycles (I think that’s what they are) to Macalania Temple. In the game it is possible to ride with a few different characters (not counting Tidus since he’s always there). Who are those characters?
This is kind of similar to FFVII where you can date more than one character in the Golden Saucer.
Seru_Kai
01-09-2010, 09:27 PM
I’ve only ever taken Lulu……every time I play it. I think you can take Wakka or Rikku? (along with Lulu). I think Auron and Kimahri can’t be an option because they drive a machine, iirc.
Smarty
01-09-2010, 11:53 PM
Yeah I always get Lulu every time I play it too.
You’re wrong though.
Agent0042
01-10-2010, 12:13 AM
Rikku, Lulu, Wakka and Kimahri
Smarty
01-10-2010, 08:17 AM
Close. But no.
I also always get Lulu. I’ve gotten Rikku once.
I feel like there are three… so Rikku, Yuna, and Wakka?
Seru_Kai
01-10-2010, 10:59 AM
Yuna isn’t available at the time. She’s carted off after the boss fight to meet Seymour in Macalania Temple.
I’ll try Rikku, Lulu, Wakka, and Auron.
Ack, did I say Yuna? I meant to type Lulu, durr. Hell I even said I got her. Hah, too late to edit, but since Seru’s guess is different…
Rikku, LULU, and Wakka.
Smarty
01-10-2010, 11:30 AM
And Seru_Kai gets it!
I’m surprised that everyone thought that Auron wasn’t available. Well he is. Although from what I’ve read it’s incredibly hard to get him. As in you have to never use Lulu or Rikku and always choose the worst answers when talking to them. Well something of the sort anyway. I’m not going to delve further into it.
At any rate Seru_Kai gets it. Your go.
I’m giving it to him because he only got one extra. Wakka, who is not available. The correct answer is Rikku Lulu and Auron. No Wakka.
It probably has something to do with him being angry about Rikku being an Al Bhed. So I think that’s why he’s not available. But I digress.
Besides nobody else even mentioned Auron, so…
Seru_Kai
01-10-2010, 11:50 AM
Oh, Wakka is so biased with Yevon. I always thought Auron drove one, but now I remember him asking Rikku if ‘these things can drive’, so I guess he could be one of the passengers. What I’m trying to say is fuck Wakka.
During you first trip, at the end of the Mi’hen Highroad you can donate various amounts of gil to the Crusaders (at the entrance to Mushroom Rock, where you get stopped initially). What are the items/gil requirements?
Whoa, I just did this three days ago. 10000 gil for a Moon Ring… Ice Lance and Scout were the other two for 1000 and 100 respectively?
And… damn, Auron really is available? You’re right, guess I had no idea and assumed he wasn’t. Seems he’s like the Barret of that event. Any Youtube of that ride scene with Auron?
Edit: So I found the youtube clip of the ride with Auron, but WAIT! Kimahri (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmfsnsFpoNk&feature=related) is also available! Hah.

01-10-2010, 01:55 PM
ha! I forgot about these trivia threads. I’m gonna start playing this one. Zak’s right by the way. Just sayin! I’m not trying to move in on your question Zak, so please don’t "go off on me".
Smarty
01-10-2010, 03:32 PM
Whaaaat? Kimahri is also available?! I used to think my sources were reliable…
Seru_Kai
01-10-2010, 11:01 PM
oh OH! I didn’t know the answer when I got it, I was just guessing 😉
Zak’s question now too.
Alright, if you’re giving it to me…
Which two characters have one less weapon and armor design than the other five?
Okay… I’ll ask a different question, it’s been five days, no one wants to answer this one.
At what point in the game is there a goof where the dialogue of all the NPCs throughout the game talks about something before it actually happened?
Smarty
01-20-2010, 05:54 AM
You mind if I answer your previous question?
If you don’t, I think the answer is Auron and Rikku. I don’t remember as many designs from them.
Don’t mind at all! But why didn’t you earlier?
And… that’s precisely right on the money! Auron and Rikku both have 5 weapons and 4 armors, everyone else has 6 weapons and 5 armors.
Which leads me to wonder if it’s a coincidence that they happen to be the last two to permanently join your party.
Feel free to ask a question… or if you want, guess my other question.
But just so you know, my second question WILL be the one I use next time I guess something.
EColeman24

Agent0042
01-21-2010, 06:29 AM
The custom is generally that whoever gets the correct answer to the previous question gains the right to post the next question.
Whatever question’s on the table is the one you go with.
If the person who answered the question doesn’t bother posting, then anyone should feel free to take it. There isn’t a set time limit on waiting, just generally when people are sick of waiting it’s up for grabs. But use your common sense and don’t steal it too soon. Take note of the date when they were given the o-k to post and use your judgment based on that.
Also, if there’s still a question on the table and people have posted guesses and the one who asked is M.I.A. not confirming or denying, then again, it’s up for steal based on the same common-sense/date judgment.
But, if the person who asked the question was the last to post, there’s no reason why anyone should steal it, like 7alentine did.
Anyway, Smarty isn’t posting, you could have taken it if you wanted or felt it necessary. But since I’m here, I’ll call it and use my second question. Scroll up to find it.
Smarty
01-21-2010, 01:57 PM
Aww I was gonna post now… Whatever it’s cool. I don’t think I could have thought of anything decent to ask. Can’t answer your current question though Zak.
I’ll take a crack at it..
Does it come at the part where Sin crashes near Bevelle? My memory’s a little hazy on it now, but I seem to recall . . .
Yes!! That’s exactly it! Once you get the airship, everyone in Spira has a designated dialogue, which remains the same even after you go to the highbridge.
But once "Sin" first appears as a location on the map, before you fight it, choosing it will initiate a small scene, and then you’re supposed to go out on deck to fight it. But AFTER that scene and BEFORE fighting Sin, you can still explore Spira and most people’s dialogue has changed, and they’re talking about Sin crashing on Bevelle. Except, that doesn’t happen until AFTER you fight Sin!
Yet, it’s not the fight that triggers the dialogue changing, but the initiation of it. So if you choose to go to Sin, but then hold off on going to the deck to fight it and explore Spira again, then you’ll see people talking about something that hasn’t happened yet.
Alright, you got this one Centercore.
Yesssssss *FF victory theme*! 😀 At that stage of the game I knew I wasn’t prepared yet for my encounter with Sin, so I ventured back out to revisit some Spira locales for a little leveling and supplies, but couldn’t help but notice that people were talking about Sin in a very strange manner; it didn’t really click in my head at first how wrong it was, but your question jogged my memory 😀
At any rate, I think I’ve got one that might stump a few players, but I’ll ask anyhow (note: being a fan of FFIX might help). In Luca, the first time you arrive, as in the cinematic where it shows the city for the first time, there’s a camera pan which shows what appears to be the main street of Luca, where tons of people are gathering. You hear a very, very brief piece of music that is from FFIX over the loudspeakers (specifically during one of the first cinematics from that game). It’s very noticeable if you’re familiar with FFIX’s first . . . eh, I’d say hour or so. You don’t have to tell me the exact name of the song (I don’t even know it), just describe the scene from FFIX that it is heard. It’s only one scene, and it’s toward the beginning. I’d say not even a half hour in.

Very close, Seru???Kai; think just a tad bit earlier on 😉
@ EColeman24, I realize you’re new here, but you need to stop double-posting. If you want to say something further but no one has said anything since your initial post, simply edit it and add to it.
If you’re ever unsure about anything, always read the forum charter and never hesitate to PM (Private Message) a moderator and ask. The mods for each section are shown at the bottom of that section’s screen. For instance, the mods here are Neo Xzhan and Agent0042. Hope this helps.

Hrm…maybe when Garnet jumps off the tower? I don’t think that’s it, but….maybe. 😉

It’s from that scene where Garnet is trying to escape from Zidane and grabs onto a rope and then Steiner tries to follow and well crashes to a wall.

Baal Temple, Besaid Island, S.S. Liki, Via Purifico, Mt. Gagazet & Zanarkand (well, you swim in the sky, but it still counts). The list should cover swiming both in and out of battle.
everything sousaphone said, plus the Moonflow (Extractor), and Bikanel’s Oasis. 😀
I think that’s it.
Smarty
01-26-2010, 12:55 PM
Sousaphone got most of them, and then Zak added the ones he missed so I think the question goes to whoever wants it of the two (or whoever is the fastest) 🙂
I do have one question though: Why did you add S.S Liki? You don’t get to swim there.
Seru_Kai

You have to fight with Wakka and Tidus after the Sin attack on the way to Kilika.

Agent0042

Both are correct, so your turn, Meltigemini. Those were the two I figured most people would know. As for the third– well, when you’re escaping Macalania Temple, O’aka is waiting just outside. Once you leave and the Guado start pursuing you, he waves and then appears to dematerialize, so it would seem he made use of the Save Sphere to transport somewhere.

Hmm, a new question… okay, let’s see if anyone knows this. If your party is unable to defeat the Chocobo Eater and is pushed off the cliff, who ultimately takes care of the fiend (will say so if you talk to them)?

It’s about Yuna, when they’re walking along the Djose Highroad, but I’ll be darned if I can remember the exact line, even though I know exactly what triggers it. Actually, wait, I think I do remember it now. Is it "She must be"?
JohnnyMercyside

That’s the end of the sentence! Really close.
To help, "Tidus: She’s awfully cheerful." is the sentence before he says it.

D’oh, that doesn’t help. "She must be," is the response I remember based on that line. And I remember most of the rest of the conversation too, but if there’s something else that Kimahri says before "She must be," it’s just not coming to me.

Okay this is probably an easy question, but when is the first time you find out that Rikku and Yuna are cousins?
JohnnyMercyside
12-01-2010, 01:52 PM
Hmmm good question… the official link is only when you finally meet Cid, who by then you know is Rikku’s father, and he makes reference to saving his niece, when he criticises the guardians for not doing their job. Up until that point it’s only hinted, like when Yuna talks about being half Al Bhed on the Al Bhed kidnap mission in Luca, the fact that Rikku calls Yuna "Yunie" at lot, and of course in Home, when Rikku talks about her father Cid.
But I’d say, on the Airship, when you meet Cid for the first time.

Valefor — Besaid
Ifirit — Bikanel
Ixion — Thunder Plains
Shiva — Macalania Temple

Yojimbo — Cavern of the Stolen Fayth
Anima — Mt. Gagazet
Magus Sisters — Mushroom Rock Road

Okay. What is the major change in regards to the expert sphere grid in the international version?
JohnnyMercyside
02-07-2011, 01:31 PM
The expert sphere grid is a lot more open than the beginner’s grid. In the beginner’s grid everyone has their own set path (apart from Kimahri of course) where as in the expert grid the window of opportunity for players to merge into other player’s grids is a lot more open. For instance Tidus can easily go into Auron’s grid, I think he only needs a Level 2 key sphere and he’s in.

Belgemine, Mika, Seymour, Ginnem (you put Ginna but you get the point), Yunalesca and Auron are correct.
Jyscal wasn’t unsent, he was sent successfully, but his hatred and dirty death made him even in his sent form try to leave the Farplane.
There was also Yu Yevon. Maechen and Kinoc are debatable one because you don’t know in the actual course of the game that he was an unsent, but you find out in X-2.

I would like to know the answer to that as well. When you meet in Djose Temple, it’s indicated that he and his guardians are traveling next to Kilika Temple, then to Besaid. I’ll throw a fairly easy question out there as it’s been ages since I’ve played the game.
Which Temple can you NOT go back to after you’ve left?

Does blitzball have a referee?
Olde
04-29-2011, 09:37 PM
Great question! Yes, it does have a referee. In the second half of the Championship blitzball match in Luca, the broadcasters say something like, "But the ref doesn’t call the foul! Wakka’s really taking a beating out there."
Not sure about Zanarkand’s rules, though. 😛
Aniki

05-01-2011, 07:03 AM
Okay. It is possible to manipulate certain aspects of the game by raising Tidus’s affection levels with specific party members (by healing, guarding, using sentinel, etc.). Name at least two of these aspects that can change depending on your affection levels with specific characters.
Agent0042
05-01-2011, 09:38 PM
One aspect is the scene involving the ride to the Macalania Temple following the boss fight. The character that Tidus rides with is determined based on these values. Also, they determine which character (if any at all) passes Tidus the ball for his Blitz Ace overdrive.

All right, what is it that Seymour says (and in reference to what) which prompts Wakka to say "Beg your pardon, but that’s not something a maester should say"?

Wakka: "This kinda machina, isn’t it banned by the teachings?"

How many circles are on Yuna’s first rod, at the top where the main design is?
7alentine
06-07-2011, 03:28 AM
its not really a circular pattern, theres one big circle with a floral pattern over it
Ultimaweapon1000

Actually, to me it looks like it is composed of circles; five circles to be exact.
One commentator has drawn connections between the staff and those of Buddhist monks.
There are several strong parallels to Japanese Buddhist and Shinto pilgrimages. For example, many Japanese pilgrims carry a staff called a shakujou 錫杖 (also known as a ushojou, chijou, or tokujou). These staffs usually have a metal head with two sections, each containing three rings (six total), representing the "six states of existence" in Buddhism. Yamabushi, or mountain priests, sometimes use such a staff for magic. The summoner Yuna carries a staff with striking similarities to a shakujou on her pilgrimage, and she can use it in magic."

Sorry, for being for so long. Been to busy.
Here’s a question for those who know how to exploit the sphere grid.
When is the earliest point in the game that Lulu can learn Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga and Waterga without learning Fira, Thundara, Blizzara and Watera?
Ultimaweapon1000
07-30-2011, 09:25 AM
Which sphere grid do you mean? There are different ways to get to each one but you will have to go through another characters Sphere Grid. On the Standard grid, I’d say it would be a bit in the game considering you have to go through Wakka’s at least. I’d say, Guadosalam.
As for the Expert sphere grid, it’s more spaced out, and you’ll have to go through no-one’s this time. It’s actually easier to get to. And you don’t have to take any detours as it on the way to her’s anyway. In this case I’d say Djose Highroad to Moonflow.
It really depends on which one you mean. Overall, I’d say near the end of the Moonflow, where you find Rikku.
Aniki
07-30-2011, 01:22 PM
I was talking about the standard sphere grid. Since I never played the International version I forgot that there’s also an Expert sphere grid. So, lets just stick to the standard one ok?
As for your answer, you’re obviously right when talking about going through Wakka’s path, but your answer is incorrect. It’s not Guadosalam.
JohnnyMercyside
07-31-2011, 01:03 AM
In that case I’d say the road leading to the Moonflow, I believe you can get a Level 2 key sphere there for the first time, which should unlock the way to that section of Lulu’s grid as explained by Ultimaweapon1000. 🙂
Aniki
07-31-2011, 08:53 AM
Nope, it’s not Moonflow either.
Hmm, lets see… only possible required spheres: LV 1, 2, 3 Key Spheres, Teleport Sphere, Friend Sphere, Warp Sphere, Master Sphere. The last two are obviously out, considering the requirements to obtain them. Assuming you take the long route to Wakka’s path without teleporting and use keys, you’d need at minimum three lv1’s and a lv3, OR two lv1s and a lv2. If you Teleport, you still need a lv2 OR lv3, plus a Teleport OR Friend Sphere.
So, either way, you must have at least a level 2 or level 3. Earlier Level 3 Key Sphere can be gotten from Chocobo racing in the Calm Lands. The earliest Level 2 Key, however, if I’m not mistaken, can be dropped by the Spherimorph boss (despite what JohnnyMercyside said about there being one in the Moonflow, which I don’t think there is). Seeing as you absolutely must have either one, I’m leaning towards Macalania Woods as the answer. As long as you can get the other requirements before then, then that would be the answer, and I’m pretty sure you can already have three Level 1 Keys in Mi’hen Highroad.
So… Macalania Woods after Spherimorph. That’s my answer. Is it correct?
Olde
08-03-2011, 08:36 PM
I might be mistaken, but can’t you also win Key Spheres from blitzball tournaments? In that case, maybe you can get it as early as the blitzball game becomes available, namely, at the beginning of the Mi’hen Highroad…
Edit: Btw, it’s good to see you back on the boards again, Zak.

"I was in a coffee shop, running away from home when I heard the news. Our hero, Jecht, gone. Vanished into thin air! My dad must have been his biggest fan. I knew how sad he’d be. Heck, we all were that day.
"Zanar," I says to myself, "What are you thinking?" I went running straight back home. We sat up talking ’bout Jecht all night. My dad and I never talked so much.
Whoa… Didn’t mean to reminisce, folks. Anyway… Ten years later, the Jecht Memorial Cup tournament is today! The two teams that have won through to the finals are…of course, the Abes from A-East, and the Duggles from C-South.
I know there’s a lot of people out there today to see the star of the Abes! In just one year, he’s become the team’s number one player! He’s Jecht’s blood, and the new hope of blitzball! What kind of super play will he show us today? Will we see his father’s legendary shot? I don’t think I’m the only one excited here, folks!"

There are three places in the game when blood is seen, where are they?
Olde
12-28-2012, 04:56 AM
I know that one place is when Tidus is fighting Geosgano in the water outside of Baaj Temple at the beginning of the game before Rikku shows up, the boss eats one of those small fish (Fasticocalon?) and it shows some blood when he eats it. Where are the other two instances?
JohnnyMercyside
12-28-2012, 08:50 AM
Yep, that’s right 🙂
The other two times are in the Anima FMV in Luca; blood trickles down one of her eyes, and the other time is when Tidus gets attacked by the Sinscales after defeating Sin’s fin on the way to Kilika.
There is also blood on some sand in one of the areas of Home, but it’s part of the scenery so I don’t really think it counts.
Your turn for getting one right anyway! 🙂
