Of course I expect most of the answers to be RPG since this is a FF Forum. But still it would be cool to know if there are any exceptions. Like me.
Personally I’ll take an RTS game over any other game any day.
Survival-Horror
Almost impossible to decide.
a.k.a. Adventure/ Interactive novel games
Turn-based strategy and RTS
RPGs
Kiddie (Franklin: A Birthday Surprise ftw!)
I also enjoy "some" FPS games. Most are total crap though >.>

Particularly Halo 3 and later.
Anyways, I can’t really decide which genre I like the best. I play almost every genre and there’s a good game (at least to me that I’ll play) in every one.
But I mostly like, Console RPG’s
Adventure – The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Indigo Prophesy (the first half)
Tactics/Strategy-RPG – FFT:WotL, Disgaea, FM3
Beat/Shoot-em-ups – God Hand, Battletoads/Double Dragons, Comic Zone; R-Type, Salamander, Contra
‘Weird’/not-often-done – Draglade, Frequency, Gitaroo Man
like Star Ocean, right?
Cept MMO. Hated.
There doesn’t really need to be, unless you want posters to specify multiple genres. The use of singular just implies a different request, as in "favorite game" as opposed to "favorite 10 games". If you notice, he also used "kind" in the body of his post, so he probably intended "genre" to be singular. 🙂 🙂
Besides, who cares?
Hence, I changed it.
Besides, who cares?
No need to get in a huff. It’s just me being anal. It’s always the way, someone says ‘hey what’s your favorite thing?’ and people reply with 16 things.
(I like arguing about grammar 🙂 🙂 )
:grammar:
Well, I initially was able to choose one genre: Adventure games. When Neg added the (s) I added two more genres. If I can do it, everyone else can as well.
Combination? I really can’t think of one right. I’m not even sure if I ever knew one. Care to give an example? I’m just trying to understand.
The elder Scrolls III & IV (Morrowind & Oblivion)
Fallout III
Deus Ex I & II
Borderlands <- This one is more FPS rather than RPG
Hexen I & II <- Old Dungeon Crawler FPS with some RPG elements
Strife <- Old game with DOOM engine with RPG elements as well.
RPG’s (Self explanatory)
Sandbox (Saints Row 2, GTA SA etc)
RTS (Dune II, Warcraft etc)
MMORPG (FFXIO)
Point and Click (Sam & Max, Monkey Island etc)
Hack ‘N’ Slash (Dynasty/Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi 1+2)
These games aren’t FPS-hybrids at all, for the record. They’re based on Ultima Underworld, a real-time RPG that pre-dates the FPS genre entirely.
On topic, my pick would be western RPGs, I guess. Will probably change again in the next five years or so though.
"Koudelka" is the more close to that combination that I know.
My favourites are shoot ’em ups, fighting games (including beat ’em ups), puzzlers, strategy games (all 3 sub-genres here – simulation, real time and round time strategy games), adventures (in the oldschool Lucas Arts-style) and platformers (including normal ones like Mario, shooting ones like Megaman or exploration ones like Metroid).
I also enjoy racing games and FPS, but here only certain ones. If there’s a Sci-Fi setting (F-Zero or Extreme G for racers, Quake, System Shock or Unreal Tournament for FPS) or a comic setting (Mario Kart, respectively Team Fortress 2 or Killer 7), then I really enjoy them. For FPS there’s also the Stealth/Spy shooter that adds in, like No One Lives Forever or Thief, they were quite enjoyable for me. However, "generic car racer" like Need for Speed or "generic war FPS" like Call of Duty or Medal of Honor are all the same to me, and bore me to no end.
Edit:
@Prak: I played The Longest Journey, as well, and found it very enjoyable. Definitely one of the best Adventures that have been released in the late 90s.
