Uhh, I have no idea what to say to this…
This might be intriguing, but until more information is released, I’m liable to withhold judgement.
Personally, I ‘think’ you may have your information crossed with Koei’s port of Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce to the PS3/Xbox 360 (on February 16, 2010, info here (http://www.koei.com/company/pressitem.cfm?id=092AECD2-3048-7B3D-C5374829F2A2C2DC). As this date is two days before the date you stated in the above quote, I’d say that this is the case.) as that DOES have online multiplayer support (Akin to the wireless support for multiplayer for this game on PSP).
Could you post the link to where you got this information from please?

From what I’ve seen on the link you gave above COCONUT MILK, some of the links on that page go to Dynasty Warriors BB (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/home/932263.html), and I’ve found that information for games which have no concrete release date or any information (More than what is shown in the link COCONUT MILK provided) are to be taken lightly.
Now, I’m not saying that Dynasty Warriors Online is NOT being made. As it’s being touted as a Online game, there was no information about a Open Beta for it, nor any information about it, until now (3 months til release). Granted that may be due to Koei keeping tightlipped about it, but I’m still skeptical.
Guess we’ll just wait and see, yes?
You need to scroll back the dates to see the other information:
– Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2
– Hokuto no Ken Dynasty Warriors
– Samurai Warriors 3
Samurai Warriors 3… Koei officially stated that this game is set to be released in Japan on December 3, 2009 for the Wii. No mention at this stage for PS3 or Xbox 360 releases.
The above even have references to them on Wikipedia (SW3 has it’s own page, while Hokuto no Ken Dynasty Warriors is under Fist of the North Star), Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2 has no listing there as of yet. Of these three titles, only Samurai Warriors has a tentative listing, open for when more information is available.
Going by what information is on a gaming website like Magic Box, Gamefaqs, etc is one thing… but until there is confirmed information on the game developers website, I wouldn’t trust what is said.
I’m a pretty rare gamer (even the guy at Gamestop told me the same thing) and I find it difficult to find people with the same interests as mine.

There have been instances where companies don’t even put up information on their website for rumors that come about and then suddenly on release date they have the website up (it has occurred a few times).
Dynasty Warriors 3 was the one which brought me to the series… I still remember playing as Xiahou Dun in ‘The Battle of Hu Lao Gate’ and the CS when that damn cockroach (Lu Bu) appears… as well as on the approach to Hu Lao Gate as well.
The Nanman battle in DW3 was awesome as well, the music fit the battle and the map was very nice. After DW3, I tracked down DW2 and from there the rest of the series (All PS2 titles, the GBA version, DW4 Hyper for PC, all 3 DW games for the PSP and DW6/Empires for the Xbox 360.). I also looked for the book ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ by Luo Guanzhong (Translated by C.H. Brewitt-Taylor), as well as looking for the sister series to DW, Samurai Warriors (Though the first Samurai Warriors was lacking graphically, the gameplay was sound).
I’ve played Dynasty Warriors Gundam via downloaded demo on Xbox Live… didn’t like it, though I think that’s mainly due to my predisposition of hatred towards bloody Gundam, but meh…

– I don’t think I’ll participate in it.
I think I’ll pass on this one.
