Resident Evil 5 (N/A)
Xenogears (N/A)
Bioshock (#27)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (#24)
Constantine (rofl, N/A)
Pokemon Platinum (N/A)
I think it’s too heavy on original games in series, especially at the front of the list. Having Xenosaga but not Xenogears is a tragedy.
The original Phoenix Wright is at #178
Xenosaga Ep. I is at #152
I’m glad XII is in it. As much as I bitch about it, one of the best criteria for knowing if you truly care about something is if it upsets you when others attack it. And, it does.
Not that I don’t approve.
They did an online post that included ones that they feel they’ve missed and it had Banjo-Kazooei.
1. King of Fighters Series (can’t choose) (N/A) *Fucking bastards*
2. Legend of Zelda OoT/MM (#20 and #63)
3. Silent Hill 4 (N/A)
4. Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors (Series) (N/A)
5. Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater (#191)
6. Final Fantasy IV (#80)
7. Guilty Gear XX (N/A)
8. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (#97)
9. Paper Mario 64 (N/A)
10. Capcom Vs. SNK 2 (N/A)
Still, I don’t really agree with it, but that could have something to do with me judging games on how fun they are now, as well as being primarily a PC gamer.
Powerstone 2 (#146)
Final Fantasy VI (#8)
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations (N/A)
Ever 17 (N/A)
Soul Calibur (#67)
Bubble Bobble (N/A)
Earthbound (#114)
Harvest Moon 64 (N/A)
Space Channel 5 Part Two (N/A)
It think it goes without saying that games like Ever 17 aren’t going to make it on any US based list, but I am honestly shocked that Disgaea didn’t get a place. I do recall Game Informer giving it a pretty mediocre review at the time it was released, mostly based on graphics, but I think it’s proven itself over time and has done a lot as far as getting other strategy rpgs released here.
I also think they included too many really new games. 6 titles released in this year seems like a lot to me.
Beyond Good & Evil – 200 – Just barely on there? You’ve got to be kidding me…
FFXII – 112 – FFX placed higher? Ugh…
Prince Of Persia (2008) – N/A – Ah, screw this list.
Assassin’s Creed – 143 – Well, I kind of expected this, to be honest.
Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time – 99 – *sigh*
Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones – N/A – Second best of the trilogy, and not even a mention…
Thief: The Dark Project – 160 – I guess I should be happy this even made it on.
Thief: Deadly Shadows – N/A – I knew this wouldn’t be on there.
Dragon Quest VIII – N/A – No love for Dragon Quest?
FFVII – 15 – Well, it would be high.
River City Ransom is another one I was shocked wasn’t on there. It’s still tons of fun to this day.
I am a huge Batman fan and I thought it was a great game but Arkham Asylum being so high seems ridiculous to me. I haven’t played any of the other super new games on this list, but do any of them really belong there?
If they don’t, I’m going to have more reason to believe that they are becoming more impersonal. First we lose their monthly, individual likes/dislikes and now their Top 10s. If we have. I don’t even know if this is the November issue or December issue.
Magazines come so damn early or late to me.
I’m mostly annoyed that Earthbound made an appearance but Mother 3 didn’t. That’s obviously because M3 didn’t receive an official US release, though :(. Also, I know a certain person who’d be annoyed by the lack of SMT in the list (ps it’s Skanker).
If only that bias had made them put VI at #1 😉
next
Mass Effect does imo. I can agree that it seems really weird for AA to be on there, but I haven’t played it so maybe they know something I don’t.
for me:
Fallout: 117
Torment: 188
Mass Effect: 58
brawl not present
chrono trigger: 17
ff7: 15
ff6: 8
Ocarina: 20
quest for glory: not present
legend of zelda: 1
Guys, I think we should play a game. You add up the value of all the games on your list, with any game not present being a value of 201, and whoever has the lowest score wins.
Mine would be 826.
1,249
Also, I totally thought you meant Ace Attorney when you said AA. inb4chewey
Kingdom Hearts 1 (79)
Kingdom Hearts 2(130) – nice to see the series get some recognition
Final Fantasy X (43)
Coutner Strike Source (N/A) -which I find stupid since the first CS was on there and source is alot better then that
Little Big Planet (154) – should be above assassin’s shit atleast -.-
Elder Scrolls Oblivion (30)
Super Mario Bros 3 (9)
Burnout 3 (144)
Black And White (N/A) – should be on there dammit
my score is 1192
It’s a 200 game list so anything not on it is 201, and the lowest score means you have the selection of highest ranking games.
My favourite all time game is black and white, then it is crash bandicoot 2 then KH 1 and 2, the others I really can’t value them.
You’d have a 201 a 202 and a 203. Doesn’t matter which of the games hold those values.
But the values of games ON the list are ascribed by Game Informer. Since we don’t know where Game Informer would rank unlisted games if they extended the list to reach them, it makes more sense to just say anything not in top 200 is 201, I think. That way it’s still bad in terms of score to have games not on the list, but you don’t get punished more severely the more games you have that aren’t.
You know the whole "liking things that aren’t mainstream is cooler." Just like everyone who’s ever tried to shove Fugazi down my throat ~_~
I suppose it doesn’t really matter, as far as 201-210, it’d only be a few points different even if you used my idea.
Seriously…no SMT but a crap load of FF?
Ah, I’ve actually played Bioshock too. I agree that that one belongs on there for sure!
also I only got a 335
Oh man, I’m dumb and I missed the 201 thing. I get 1541.
I would totally be up for doing our own list like this, but I’m a sucker for big time consuming projects.

You’re just mad that your poor taste in music reveals how uncool you are.

I think this would be cool, and I don’t think it would even be that time consuming, but it would probably be hard to get enough people to participate in ranking 200 games. Maybe we could do top 50 or something to make it easier?
Seriously…no SMT but a crap load of FF?
Maybe beacuse SMT is not that well known as FF (i think)
Or because it’s ‘Game Informer – Mouth of Gamestop’
jaja, the mouth of money jaja

Then I remembered that they used the American numbering system, cuz dumb.
Then I remembered that they used the American numbering system, cuz dumb.
I did the same thing when I was first scanning the list. ; ; Man, I would’ve seriously raged if FFII had been on there at the expense of so many other great games.
This is a very lame list, there’s no way the original Zelda deserves that spot. Oh well, there are like twenty of these lists and they all have different results~~
iirc once you get to Link to the Past they even say that it made the original Zelda even better or something like that in the magazine. I can’t check though because it’s being read in my bathroom atm. I agree that it’s weird ordering.
TK- FFShrine’s top 50 games of all time sounds awesome!
– They remembered Vagrant Story and EarthBound, so yeah, all is well
– HOW THE FUCK THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DRAGON QUEST IN THAT LIST WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS I MEAN COME ON
Shining Force II (N/A)
Mega Man II (#38)
Bubble Bobble (N/A)
Uncharted Waters II: New Horizons (N/A)
Final Fantasy VII (#15)
Final Fantasy I (N/A)
Super Mario Brothers 3 (#9)
Ninja Gaiden (#77)
Starcraft (#35)
Final Fantasy Tactics (#45)
(almost-blaster master, Dragon warrior (dragon quest), FFXII)
Seriously, GTA3 as #4????!!!! I have absolutely no problem with classics dominating the list. There are so many games still being made that are just derivatives of classic titles, and the original idea is where the credit is due.
So? Tactics Ogre isn’t massively popular even among gamers, and yet they listed it. How many people actually remember how awesome Mario’s Picross is?
It just strikes me as downright bizarre how come they didn’t list a single DQ game in there. Oh, well…
Who else would it be popular with? The only other game in its genre that made the list is Tactics Ogre: Final Fantasy edition, so not including the original would have just been rude.
Albeit, there are some on that list I do agree with (Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Legend of Zelda Link to the Past and others), I would have to query some placings though.
Still, it’s up to the reader to decide if they agree/disagree with the listings.
1. Final Fantasy VII (15)
2. Kingdom Hearts II (130)
3. Ogre Battle 64 (N/A – 201)
4. Shadow of the Colossus (84)
5. Final Fantasy IV (80)
6. Jade Empire (N/A – 201)
7. Asheron’s Call (N/A – 201)
8. Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (63)
9. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (N/A – 201)
10. Bioshock (27)
Totaled – 1203
Bah, that’s what I get for slotting Asheron’s Call and Warrior Within on there. I’m definitely a niche gamer when it comes to those two.
EDIT – Also, on a separate note, I dare someone to compile all the ‘Top ten games of all time’ listings, add them all up, then make a top ten out of all the entries. That I would be very curious to see…
I take this dare! This is right up my alley.
Might not get to it today as I have plans later, but I’ll work on it ASAP.

Others I would have liked to see in the list: Starfox 64 (I enjoyed this one much more than the SNES version), Mega Man X2 and X3, Seiken Densetsu 3, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, Hexen, Heretic, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Duke Nukem 3D (all-time favorite for sure) and Manhattan Project, Super Mario All Stars (not sure if this counts as it is a compilation and remake/port), and some more I cannot remember off the top of my head right now…
list invalid.
