VGM Thieves

Isn’t it fucked up when you work so hard on a game rip to help out others, and they go, and take the credit for your hard work for themselves?

I mean, I’ve downloaded OST’s from torrents, and what not but never said it was mine. I usually give credit to whomever uploaded it. I just pass it along so the rarity of it will go down some.

Well I’ve been victimized lol. A user I’m guessing from this site or Emuparadise (cause those where the only sites I put all game rips to) has gone and downloaded my work, and took total credit for.

Found that in a comment posted on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYzRi3zGFyA).

I then proceed to post that it’s my game rip, and they give me a thumbs down lol. I take a look at this site to see that the idiot posts the same exact post that I’ve put on my thread here lol. Then I download the zip, and see that my TXT file is still in there just with my handle deleted from the part that says ripped, tagged. It’s just sad that this fool takes my hard work, and stuffs his crap into what I made.

Yeah, I know how you feel…. That really sucks. The real problem is that you can’t really do anything….. You could as you did, say it was yours and get others to know that. I think the important thing is that others get what they want and that you yourself know it’s yours. However I know the feeling…

Oh of course. Why do you think I became a contributor? So many people with the same love of VGM the same as me. After I make my game rips, I take a couple months, and upload them to youtube. I try to make rare music un-rare in any way possible. When people ask for the music. I tell them to join the forums (for TOS reasons with these sites of course. I don’t want to get banned lol)

Now for my whole youtube channel. I’ll just put the contributors name on the video itself instead of putting it in the playlist info (Should have done that since the first upload to be honest.) I guess.

If you wanna share without these "troubles", you have to create a private forum.
But even with a private forum, you would encounter them…

Well, I hate to sound cold, but it was bound to happen. So, go ahead and feel bad, get your cry out, and then realize that it will eventually happen to the guy that took your credit. You can personally take satisfaction in the fact that people are downloading your files, and that you did help to spread the word about this particular album. I know exactly where you are coming from though, the same thing has happened to me before. Just don’t let one bad experience like this keep you from doing more rips. Keep up the good work. 🙂

@ wolfmaster913: You don’t sound cold. I expected this to happen, but I didn’t even make a year here yet, and already got robbed lol. I won’t stop ripping games either. I finally have a place to talk about VGM, and not get looked wierd at for listening to it. Thanks for the support. You keep up the good work as well.
