The return of Sonic to his roots (for real this time?)

Just you wait. Sonic ’06. Sonic Unleashed. You’ve all been claiming these the return to form, and yet you detest them whenever they come out for real. Wouldn’t it be best to assume they’re utter garbage until proven otherwise?

As much as I keep my hopes high for this to be a good game, I know Sega is going to do two things: incorporate a stupid gimmick and introduce a new annoying character.

They’ve been doing that strong since Sonic Adventure, don’t stop now!

I hope this one will be the one. If that makes sense.

We have that kind of hope every time they announce a new game…

Let’s hope they really figured out (finally) that Sonic games were at their best during the Genesis era (Sonic 3 and Knuckles, anyone?), and that fans have been asking for a real Sonic The Hedgehog 4 ever since they screwed up by going 3D and adding countless characters and gimmicks.

From what I could read, it would seems they finally acknowledged that.

Speaking of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, did you know they’re on XBL Marketplace now? They just added Sonic and Knuckles. I was so tempted to buy S&K but decided against it.

My 360 doesn’t get much use ever since it RRODed. It’s working now, but I kind of lost faith in this system (as little as I had to begin with) and the will to use it for anything that is not for playing exclusive games on it… And even that is done in fairly short period of time.

Sounds nice…unless it’s being made by Team Sonic.

I hope it shows up as Wiiware as well. As for Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles, well, I’ll only buy it if it’s the Sonic 3 & Knuckles package. Sadly tho, Virtual Console doesn’t even have Sonic & Knuckles…

I always wanted to play that Sonic game where they had the evil robot looking Sonic… not sure which one that is.

I played Sonic 3, but couldn’t get into it… maybe I’ll try it again and see if my opinion on it changes.

metal sonic has made more apearances, but memory fails me, not quite a sonic fan myself

Metal Sonic somehow gained terminator-like shapeshifting abilities and disguises himself as Robotnik in Sonic Heroes.

I think he’s in Sonic Rivals, too.
