i’m in the process of going exclusively flac but i only really use music for my ipod so i was wondering if anyone here has successfully found a way to drag flac files to the ipod and have it auto convert to 320k mp3’s?

Why convert when you can preserve lossless quality?

thank you. i didnt know the ipod was capable of running lossless in mp4. i have a 120 gig and can pretty much store everything ever downloaded as 320k mp3’s. as alc’s it will probably be quite tight. i shall experiment.

however, is it possible to drag flac into itunes or say media monkey and it will auto convert them to alc / mp4 to the ipod?

I don’t know if iTunes can even read .flac files let alone convert them. I personally prefer to use foobar2000 to convert FLAC or other lossless formats into .mp3, mp4/.m4a.

foobar is too hardcore for me. i’ve got media monkey so i’ll try that for now for converting.

I use WMA Lossless best compression rate usually. And what do you mena by quality lossless is lossless the quality should be exactly the same.

yes, i have a friend who has explained it all to me. i was judging it by bitrate but i understand now thats not how the codecs work. it is loosless regardless of the bitrate.
