What is your favorite VGM remix?

Mine would probably be either Subbterranean Kamikaze by Sixto Sounds and zircon, Walk on Water by housethegrate, or Dirty Mix by A Scholar And a Physician.

The first is an amazing rock/techno remix of the Sewer Surfin’ level from TMNT IV: Turtles in Time.
The second is a jazz/rock arrangement of the first and second acts of Hydropolis from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
And the third is an insane mix of the Super Mario theme.

That’s a tough call seeing as I’ve heard many, many great arrangements over the years that I have been collecting video game music.

Of the ones I can remember, I would probably have to go with an arrangement from one of the Ys games. Maybe "That Boy’s Got Wings" from the "The Oath in Felghana" original soundtrack or possibly "Over Drive" from Ys Origin Super Arrange Version album.

There was one I found years ago, and I honestly haven’t been able to find it again since I had it on my old computer. It was a techno remix of Sting Chameleon from Mega Man X called "Welcome to the Mechanical Forest" or something similar. It was brilliant.

Other than that, I really like "Turbid Guidance" from Lufia II, "Adrenaline Rush" from Final Fight, and "At the End of All Things" from Chrono Trigger. All 3 of them are from remixers of OC Remix.

The "Welcome to the Mechanical Forest" is Alpha Lyla and Toshiaki Ohtsubo from Capcom’s sound team. You can find it on the MegaMan thread on this site. I love that song!

I actually have that album on my iPod already; isn’t that the jazz-rendition album of Mega Man X songs? I know I have that song and I agree with you, it’s superb. Totally evokes the memories of playing that game as a kid into the wee hours of the morning. 🙂

The one I’m thinking of *I hope I’m not dreaming it up!* was a more techno/dance *but not ala "generic" house* version of the song. I’d be oh so pleasantly surprised if anyone either knew or even better has this version of Sting Chameleon; this was with my old PC, so it had to be upwards of 6 years ago that I last heard it.

The Euro Remixes of Splash Wave, Passing Breeze, and Magical Sound Shower, the Guitar Mix of Risky Ride, and Prototypes of Night Flight and Shiny World, all from OutRun II/SP.
