At one of his recent Distant Worlds concerts, staged in Maryland, Nobuo Uematsu revealed to the audience that he will be the composer for Final Fantasy XIV. It’s been speculated for awhile that he will be, both because of his appearance on the official Production Team lineup, but also because of the similarities in style between Uematsu’s older works and the Final Fantasy 14 Title Music.

As with all of Uematsu’s works, he promises that the soundtrack will provide solid and developed ambience to our adventurers, providing the "Uematsu brand", as Uematsu called it. Final Fantasy XI has often been heralded as having some immersing, intense background ambience because of Naoshi Mizuta’s exceptional soundtrack. With Uematsu at the helm of Fourteen’s compositions, the same immersion will be there.

It was also revealed that the Distant Worlds orchestra have started working on Final Fantasy XIV music for performance purposes. Whether this means performing pre-release or practising for the creation of Fourteen’s soundtrack remains to be seen, althrough this will assuredly excite fans and appreciators of Uematsu’s previous works in the Final Fantasy series.

This is great news for fans who are partial to Uematsu’s style; well heralded by the gaming community as one of the best compositional styles of our time. With this soundtrack providing the backing ambience to what’s already looking like an exceptional, exciting world, you can be sure that travelling through Eorzea will be an exhilerating and immersing experience!

I have ripped a copy of the music from the official site and uploaded here:

^ it’s online, in the exact same sense as Final Fantasy 11 too…. lets hope it’s not as boring and dead as it after a year.

Thanks anyway, nice music as usual from this series.
