Not sure if this is the right forum so I apologize in ahead.
It would certainly be more convenient larger files that require waiting periods. Is there some rule against using them? Torrents themselves are not inherently illegal, last I checked.

It’s more convenient for us uploaders if we don’t use them, because otherwise we’d always have to run the torrent programs that slow down our CPUs, and we’d have to leave the PC running all the time – otherwise people would come and whine and bitch about how we aren’t seeding.
Probably a few have data transfer limits on their internet providers, so they cannot upload without any restriction.
Furthermore, not everyone has the ability to use a torrent program on their computer, and not everyone has the knowledge to create or download torrents, as well. Since many people can’t even read huge red letters stating rules or don’t know how to unpack rar-files, I doubt torrents should be preferred over opening the page and clicking on a link.

This is a question has been asked quite a few times before, so I’ll pretty much give you the same answer that many other veteran forum people here have said:
Its difficult for the uploaders to do, so if YOU have a torrent server and are willing to put up with the disadvantages of hosting a torrent site, YOU do it.

Nothing nasty or anything, but that (plus Sherlocks post above) is the question answered in a nutshell.

besides noone (well noone in these forums anyway) uploads or downloads from torrent at all so don’t expect to see torrents or torrent links posted up on these forums cause i can safely say THERE IS NEVER GOING TO BE ANY. *ahem*

Not to be nasty or anything, but I use torrents all the time. And, as far as it is concerned, I would find a link to one for someone if that is what it took. Sometimes torrents are the only way to find some of the stuff out there.

To be fair, torrents are indeed an option to get hold of files not found anywhere else and on occaisions are convenient for certain people, however it is largely inconvenient for anyone else other than server administrators for reasons already stated here.
And from what Ive heard Galbadia Hotel has enough problems with the content uploaded there already without starting a torrent service as well, so on that end it is also inconvenient for the GH (and therefore this forum) host.

Not to mention that torrents can die out pretty quickly once people stop seeding. A torrent only lives as long as there are seeders.

…Ever tried to download a torrent to find that no others are downloading or seeding, and you’ll be stuck at 0%?

*raises hand multiple times*

A direct download can be quickly re-upped as soon as it dies. When a torrent dies, not only does someone have to have the files, but they also have to have the torrent info, don’t they? Without one or the other(and the knowhow to MAKE one or the other) you’re SOL.

Torrents for GH: Good in theory, impractical in reality.

torrents belongs in the dinosaur age and is a nonsense. they destroy bandwidths across isp net works and is not only outdated but in effecient too.

direct downloads [megaupload, rapid] is the way to go. not only do you get a fast direct speed, its easier to share and doesnt bother isp’s. its safer too from authorities than torrents, and the download is more likely to remain active for a longer time.
