I assume itunes because the original post was M4A files. It is high bitrate though and sounds fantastic!!

AOL sends out M4A files, here’s one ripped from the server:

Itunes can automaticaly convert everything you add to the library to 256kbps AAC (M4A) if you chose so by your first startup.

(I can’t really check since I killed my headphones, now I’m stuck with windows 98 audio boxes. I’m too lazy to compare them…)

You might be interested to hear about John Williams wanting to do Deathly Hallows, lets just hope to god they aren’t idiots and allow him back on!!
I have wanted him ever since he left, it just hasn’t been the same without him.
Thank god, OotP and HBP game scores have been in better hands, Jeremy Soule’s first 2 game scores were good PoA and Gof were…eh…..Patrick Doyle was OK-ish I guess, while Hooper had some pretty good moments in OotP, primarily Umbridge’s theme. HBP film, I haven’t properly listened to but OotP is better IMO.

I downloaded the file and Windows media could not find the file at first.
Then i finally found it …under the "Unknown" section in my artist.
But then i couldnt skip thru the song!

So i deleted the file and restored it.
Now WMP cant find it AT ALL

Why using WMP when you can have Winamp or Foobar??

Eh?

Hooper is an award-winning composer who has been working constantly in the UK for twenty years. How this equates to "hardly not very much experience" I can’t possibly begin to speculate. Also – what is this "TV composer" stigma? He’s a fine composer – with a musical education, which is more than can be said for 99% of the guys writing most of today’s film music. I really wish people wouldn’t cast all-conquering judgements on a man’s music based upon two examples of his work, completely ignoring two decades of consistently high quality work…

That said, I’m utterly crushingly disappointed with his Harry Potter scores – easily the worst of the series. I too wish for Williams to return.

Hmm, i’ve never actually been to a site for movie OST reviews…
I actually stay away from all Critic sites(except Spill.com because they are funny) because critics are overly critical of things.
I guess that is their job, but most tend to become negative of EVERYTHING.
And a lot of times they will praise something that i find to be utter Shite.
Like the movie Michael Clayton.

Anyway having said all this, i like the site you have posted. I hope it helps give more insight to osts

Well if you downloaded the original megaupload post then I can see why it wouldn’t work because WMP probably wouldn’t read that format. If you can’t get my mirror to work then i think you should change players.

Wow. Really a very excellent score by this extremley talented young composer. Dark moods change with really beautiful melodic passages. Really a masterpiece that show that not only John Williams did excellent work for Harry Potter. Besides the Harry Potter Stories each time from part to part get darker and darker. So are the movies. Hope this one also will be excellent as the others.

Agreed, however solid on its own. The score is nothing compared to previous ones in the series, even Pooper…ehr…Hooper’s Order of the Phoenix was in some way better…

This is nice, but not as good as previous ones, i think.

so, i just got back from HP6 and even though i am a fan of this score, i’m going to admit, the music works much better in two ways

one : if you have seen the movie. some wont like it, but if you seen the movie, you’ll understand it better.
two : i think it works fantastic on album, but it works better in the film than on the album.

just my two cents..

I think Half-Blood Prince soundtrack is slightly better than the last one, but only by a narrow margin. I don’t know how Nicholas Hooper music works in the movie, because i have not seen Harry Potter part 5 and 6 movies yet.
Still although in my opinion it’s a better work than Order of Phoenix, but both soundtracks are inferior than the Williams and Doyle (if i forget the more bombast cues), soundtracks for this series, but i’m not a Hooper hater. At least he tried to compose something original but without the sucess (and dare i say quality), of the previous soundtracks.

i agree. hooper does and means well, but his style is just so different from williams, as is doyle. though, i liked these scores for what they are.

sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this missing the theme that plays during the credits? IMO that’s the most fun piece in the entire score and it’s not here! I thought The Weasely Stomp was it when looking at the tracklist but it’s not. Anyone know where that one went missing?

I didnt stay throughout the credits, but my guess would be it was cut from the score cd, as the credits, or the film versions of them, havent been released on ANY HP score album. I know, Doyle’s End Credit’s Suite SOO Shoulda been on the GoF soundtrack, instead of those dreadful "The weird sisters" songs, they were way out of place, IMO, it’s the equivalent of the randy newman song on the JP3 album, it had no place on there. However, wait for a boot or the dvd to comeout and an expanded/complete edit will comeout, end credits and all.

Well, it’s similar I guess but not THAT similar. They both have the same feel but the melodies and construction are different. I arrange music so I always keep an ear out for stuff that interests me. The piece that plays in the credits is much better though.

i reallly disagree with alot of the hate that he gets. and even though im sad to see him leave the series on a high note (on album, of course) i’m happy too, cause now williams can come back. if theres no williams then i’ll be pissed.
