(I don’t have a PS3. Or a PSP.)
contrary to the psx version, where its said he died.
the female turk says this.
among other things fixed.
en fin, not interested, still have my original copy, and a GH version as backup.
Only because I didn’t have to pay. I used my brother’s log in details. I just got to the first save point when a friend asked me to go on COD. I’ll carry on with VII later.
It does seem pointless to play it again, but I know I’ll enjoy it.

The PC version also edits out a lot of the speech quirks of certain characters, for example, Barret’s "Yeah, goddamn it! It’s ‘cuz of you that Sephiroth got the Black Materia in the first place. It’s your damn fault!" becomes "Yeah, goddamn it! It’s because of you that Sephiroth got the Black Materia. It’s your damn fault!" and Cait Sith’s "……nuthin’ I can do ’bout that……" becomes "Can’t do anything about that…"
Here’s one of my favorites:
Tifa: "Close your ears! Close your eyes!" –> Tifa: "Cover your ears! Close your eyes!"
Oh, I bet you mean playing the PC version. I could delete this post, but, I’ll leave it. I might be dumb.
(also if you delete your then delete mine please.)
The only problem is that trying to make the PC version play on today’s sytems is a dicey proposition at best because it was originally released for Windows 95/98. If you have XP you can probably get it to work with a bit of patching and a bit of luck, but it’s pretty much a no-go under Vista.
The VIII PC version script isn’t edited, probably because unlike the VII Playstation version script, the VIII Playstation version script wasn’t screwy. It didn’t have either Engrish errors or a lot of profanity.
It’s funny to read that. You english-speaking people complain about your PSX translation for FFVII but compared to the French translation, it was a masterpiece. They screwd it up so bad (worst than a simple "Google" translation) that some players in my country imported the US version to have something they could understand.
Did’nt know about the PC version, but seems interesting. I hope I will be able to take a look at it someday.
I was refering to those who mentioned some mistakes in the english translation and compared it to the PC version, which seems to be more accurate.
And yes, in our version, Cloud is named Clad, Aerith is Aeris, and Red XIII is Rouge XIII. This is due to pronunciation matters (Cloud would be pronounced "Clood" and Aerith "Arit"). Funny you know about it!
Anyway, I still haven’t gotten an answer to my original question– can anyone who has played the version they put out for PS3/PSP tell me which version of the script they’re using, at least for the English translation? It should be extremely easy to figure out– if it’s got Engrish and profanity such as "shit," it’s the Playstation version, but if not, then it’s the PC version.
Interesting– they shoulda used the PC version script, it’s a major step up, at least when it comes to cleaning up the grammatical and spelling problems.
