SORRY if I offended anyone, this is my honest opinion and that will never change. They are so goddamn overrated…
To answer the OP question, YES. Yes it did have a big impact. Anyone into a bit of music should know that.
This.
However Nirvana were pretty good, just not the gods people claim them to be, i wonder if kurt was still alive would people hold him in such high reguards?
It reminds me of the heath ledger thing, nobody was going on about him before he died, but then all of a sudden his a god, of course his peformence in DK was great but still case in point.
Nirvana will always be THE band of 90s generation, so their impact on people from that time is pretty huge and probably inspired a whole lot of kids to get into music.
That’s interesting stuff. I can listen to Nirvana and I appreciate alot of their work, but I’ve never quite been able to understand some of my friend’s worship of them. And i’ve certainly never seen anyone bring to light the kind of effect Kurt Cobain had like you said. Thanks for contributing.
Sometimes I wish I was never tainted with examples of people that act like I said in my post, you’re lucky to have been outside all of that.
Sorry if I was a bit harsh.
Although they aren’t one of my absolute favourite bands anymore, though they certainly would have been at a point in time not so long ago, they did release 3 stunning albums in 3 years and their cultural impact is still evident today. MTV Unplugged is an absolute classic and alongside In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, probably the best album of the 1990s.
EDIT: Ah, forgot about the Soft Bulletin. Okay, one of the three best albums of the 90s. And maybe more. Probably more, yeah. I have finished this sentence and remembered the Bends and OK Computer. IT IS A GREAT ALBUM, I will leave it at that.

Right on man, yes Kurt was boring as dogshit when it came to guitar or songs. He set up the ruining of music (nickelback, puddle of mudd, staind and all that shit), thats why progressive metal is the way to go right now!
Plus completely overrated [although I put that last, because it’s not a reason I don’t like them, just an additional point that doesn’t help.]
Dave Grohl needs to stick to drums.
