My Sweet Love

I remember how I used to stare at you,
How I’d hang to your every word.
I studied your face; and each day I’d find something new.
I marveled at you; my heart’s migratory bird.

I used to stare into your eyes,
And beg to see the thoughts you held behind them.
I longed to be the man you visualized
In those luminous, lustrous gems.

I’d watch the sun play with your face,
And I’d envy every ray of light.
In my heart was that special place
I made your camping site.

I’d sit and listen to your every word.
As your sweet lips displaced the air
My heart fluttered at what I heard.
The sound so sweet; none can compare.

But now I sit here in your proximity.
My heart is rank, and filled with bile.
And your comments are no longer a witty;
Your presence has become vile.

You’ve lost your luster,
And you no longer keep my interest.
No matter what words you can muster,
My heart will never again be your nest.

You’ve become so plain,
Now that I’ve discarded your facade.
You’ve been reduced to an anomaly
left on my heart, and I’m starting to find you odd.

I thought so highly of you,
Now beyond the lies I can see your mortality.
I lied to myself and to you,
I can see now that I honestly hate your personality.

I tire of your face,
So I’ll drive this wedge between us.
So I force the dagger in that special place.
The dagger breaches through the truss.

The thought of you is far to vexing,
So I’ll take my leave while the blood pours.
I find it amazing that- I thought of you while my blood was trickling…
I’ll desist before that dagger stops being a metaphor.
