okay the sequels are overrated, the game is not.
FF7 led the path graphically to what u could do on a ps1.
And forgetting FFAC for a moment.
Makou is exactly like the real world and oil, it had a hidden message, keep drillin oil and the planets gonna wither away. but coz of AC, the message got screwed up.

And on topic: I like FFVII, although I agree it is horribly overrated now (and the whole Compilation has milked the original premise well and truly dry – FFVII: Crisis Core was good though). Obsessive fanboy and girl rants haven’t helped the game’s cause either.

Exactly what the thread title says. FFVII was a good game, but not the shining pile of amazingness some people would try to claim it is.
