1) Somewhere (exactly I cannot explain) on the Centra continent is a section of land that is dashed (or pebbled for lack of a better descriptive) with distinctly blue (or azure) glowing spots. Can anyone explain the significance of such?
2) Having trawled through a couple of Gameshark FAQ’s, there are various code edits which allow for stock of normally unobtainable magic such as those that belong solely to Selphie’s limit. The likes of The End, Full-Cure, Wall and Rapture. Another however, is a spell titled ‘Percent’. This is not something I have ever seen before. (Played this game through countless times now, and never cheated to this extend Gameshark extent by the way) but Percent magic? Could someone please explain this. YouTube has no videos for the same, and various Google searches have brought back nothing also.
3) Once on the fourth disc and having entered Ultimecia’s Castle, all towns become blocked off with the exception of the Chocobo forests (and the one required to re-obtain the Ragnorak). First sub question which I suspect I already know the answer too here is there a way to regain entry to the towns? The main question here concerns Tonberries ‘call shop’ ability. The shops available to me are not an extensive list and one can only assume it is the shops that I have visited during the course of the game. (This is an old save by the way and has survived for about 3 years beleive it or not on an old PS1 memory card). Is there any way at all to access the missing shops?
4) Am I insane for having started a brand new save on Friday night and already being 36 hours of gameplay in, having opted for the first time for the no level up tactic? (And wooping major arse with it!).
2) Never heard of it…sounds like BS.
3) No, and I’ve tried both on the PC and PS1 versions (cheating no less).
4) Nope, just need a life…and a PSP.
I’ve done that too…try fighting Fujni(sp) – the eye patch girl around level 11/12. Uck…
1) Odin is located in the Centra Ruins as a sidequest. The section of the map I refer to is quite a distance. A screen shot would help, but PS1 technology for such or camera(phone) to show you I do not have.
2) Research a few FAQ’s that are Gameshark related and you will see what I am talking about.
3) I’ll happily go with.
4) Raijin and Fujin are a peice of cake. Blind magic actually makes use of itself in this instance, and combined with some useful stat junctions, I do not see a problem.
Can I get someone with a little more knowledge? No offence there buddy.
I have no idea about Percent.
The no-level game is probably the easiest way to play through FFVIII, to be honest. The 36 hours thing implies that you have too much time on your hands; of course, it could easily be said that the only reason I haven’t logged time like that into an FF game recently is because I don’t have a Playstation in my apartment in Tallahassee.
2) Not the code itself, I’m talking about it doing anything. I’ve used a GS on FF8 and never had it work…so, kudos if you can.
4) Don’t level up mean, to me, no drawing magic either.
Like the "White Mage Challenge" in FF1
*Bite me.
😛
And by this white mage challenge, am I to assume you mean play the game through as just a white mage without using any magic? Because THAT is literally impossible.

In FF8 it’s not impossible, but it’s nearly.
I sure as hell didn’t get very far.
For FFI…you can use magic, but still…4 white mages.
Thing is harder than harder.

4 thieves is tougher. I’ve done both.

I have wondered about those blue spots, too. The only thing I figured is that it might have something to do with the Pupu quest since I never bothered doing that, but that’s probably wrong anyway.
Definately not part of the PuPu sidequest.
(and throw in black belts)
Did you do it on hard or soft type?
Also, really?
At least Thieves and Black Belts have attack.

Thieves don’t. Against Astos, they did 1 damage on every non-critical hit. At least the white mages could cast ruse on themselves and cast mute on him to give them time to pile up the criticals to bring him down. They only have a good attack at class change when they become ninjas, and it’s a snap for white mages from that point, too (spellcasting items).
And I played FFI on the NES.
And I played FFI on the NES.
Wow…now I want to try that.
MMMk, I think the US version was easy-type.
I forget if it’s the GBA or PS1 version that’s hard-type.

The GBA version is the super-ridiculously easy version. The PS1 version is the one that has the choices, "hard" and "easy." "Hard" is basically the same as the NES version, and "easy" is with modifications in the gameplay, such as reassigning targets when you attack a dead monster instead of swinging at nothing. The US version is not any easier than the Japanese version in FFI; that’s only true of FFIV.
Edit: This is certainly way the hell off topic, so if you have any more questions about the various releases or about the terrible parties playthroughs, just send me a PM. The wikipedia article on the game has all the information about the various releases.
lol hope i helped
oh btw i use PSX Emulation Cheater (PEC) for my cheats and whats really screwy that my Zell has mostly blank magics and some of Selphie’s Limits…
lol they still work like normal magics and Apocalypse is great too but the shitty thing is that you dont get it until you fight Ultimecia for the last time without cheating…
I actually managed to beat her after 3 months btw this was a year and a half ago i only just got a copy about 3-4 years ago lol how long did it take you?
thanks in advance
As for completing the game? My last run out took me just under a week. I obviously have too much time on my hands, but when you adopt the right strategy, the game is actually so bleeding easy it makes me laugh.
Same with all Final Fantasy games really, perhaps something more challenging wouldn’t go a miss.
BTW, this code is for the US gameshark/game right?
Sorry.
hope this helped
(DRUMROLL, AW SCREW IT)
Its actually one of Selphie’s limits usable as a magic! LOL!
I came to know this when i was looking at my VIII save on my ps1 mem card, i thought id play my VIII again after i hiatused myself from playing it when i finished it. So i started to play, and i dont know why, but i looked at everyone’s limits and i saw that one of Selphie’s LB’s is Percent. What it does i can tell you, its a Near Death move, what it means is that it puts all enemies to 1 hp in battle. Try it on a boss, The End worked for me on Edea!
Later on in the game, it has been moved into the shell and is mobile, yet the empty site in centra remains, hence, blue spots
