RP Section?

Hey all,

My first post here is a question. Is there going to be (or has there ever been) a section for RP’s? I know there is a section for RPG’s but that’s just dicussing actual games, not for members to start their own RP’s up.

It was just a thought I had. It’s a shame there isn’t one, they’re usually really popular!

There was an RP section but it died so it was removed.

There used to be one, but we kept it pretty strict as in people had to get approval to run an RPG. We don’t want to have one where anybody can just set up anything they want because no one here wants to have to deal with moderating that kind of nightmare. And nobody really cared enough to moderate it under the system we had. So we just closed it down.

To be honest, there are so many places online you can do that sort of thing, I don’t see much point in us opening another one here anyway.

And when we had one it was okay but still people lost interest over time and it just fell apart.

And with the amount of free MMOs out there, who needs TBRPG imo.

i don’t understand how an MMO, free or otherwise, can in any way replace a TBRPG. unless you want to sit and RP in the game, but in that case why not just use a chatroom

for the same reason larping doesn’t replace tabletops and strategy computer games didn’t replace risk?

i agree with you that thinking of an mmo as replacing tbrpg’s is kind of strange, but not for the same reasons i guess. tbrpg’s here were basically multi-author longform stories. that’s different from the sort of rp people do in mmo’s. and for the record I could see myself doing light rp in an mmo but can’t imagine doing it in a chat. ;-;;

also: if there’s enough interest I don’t have any problem with bringing back the tbrpgs or even the ZOMG BATTLE RPGs.
