On to the good news!
I’ve been searching for an easy, cheap fix all these months searching through the PS message boards and google and my answer was found 2 nights ago on a YouTube video that was posted on the PS message boards. After carefuly watching the video a few times, showing how to reflow the solder on both the CPU and GPU, I picked up a $10 heat gun at my local Joann craft shop, some thermal compound from Radioshack and 3 hours later, last night, I have a working PS3 again! I’ll post the video I watched later tonight when I’m on a regular computer. For now I’m happy to say it works again. 😀
As part of the PS3 Illuminados, I have to delete this thread.
Gee, thanks for the "good job" or "you go girl!"
I saw you hopping off and on last night. Wondered what you were up to~
Which is probably why it doesn’t :mad::mad:

I’ll pay for it, too. ;o
Now i’m not so sure <.<
But he is subscribed to Phil, so A+ in my book.
Raidenex, you can always get one of the earlier 80GB models with bc.
itp: I admit something
I didn’t read the second paragraph of your original post. I was too busy worring about containment after you mentioned the ya know…..don’t want to say it outloud, and all~
I’ll appreciate it more, though. 🙂
(translation)
(Here is the solution to your problem, just mod PS3 since its out of warranty!) I forget who asked about bc and I’m to lazy to look back and copy and paste this.
When you feel like playing some PS2 games, just take 30 seconds out of your life to hook it up and start playing. If anybody does start trying to chip/mod their PS3s and they break, I want you to know i’m glad and that i’m also laughing at you.
Good job fixing yours by the way Marvin! Mine is one of the newer 80GB ones anyway, so I don’t think I’ll have the problem. But if I do then it’s nice to know I may be able to fix it.
Though a mate of mine who works in Gamestation has told me about a loophole in the Sony/Microsoft warranty system. If you go to Gamestation, you can pay them 38 for a warranty for a 360/PS3, then they give you a new system and send the paperwork to whoever needs it. You walk away with a brand new system, they are happy because they get the 38 and Sony/Microsoft just write it off as a repair. (because you have to send your old system to them by the way)
^
I’ve probably missed/mixed up some of the details with that, but it’s something along those lines.
I heard that if you use daemon tools and using the ISO from a PS2 or PS1 game you can play it with certain emulators?
Also, can anyone link me an PS1 and PS2 emulator that actually works, iv tried a few. i just wanna play ff7 again (PS3 and my PS2 broke, it cant play ps1 games or DVDs anymore *gutted*)
STOP THAT SHIT 😡
i just meant the ps3 isnt backwards compatible.
