F.E.A.R.

So I’ve been playing a LOT of F.E.A.R. lately.

I <3 this game so much. I figured I’d make a thread about it to share screams, screens and memes.

Here’s one I took just now

I know this game is old and it’s been sitting on my PC for around a year now and I’ve only gotten into it now (lol)

What are your thoughts on the game and have you any screens to share?

I’m still playing it as I typed this post and I was moseying down a quiet corridor and came to an apex where a dead body falls off the top and lands right in front of you. I guess it was the music and because I wasn’t expecting it but I jumped so far out of my chair lol.

This is definitely a game that needs the lights off and the volume at max.

F.E.A.R. is an excellent game. One of my all time favs if i’m honest. And if you haven’t already it might be worth checking out the two expansions for it Extraction Point & Perseus Mandate. Also the sequal F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin (which is also excellent.)

Yeah I have Extraction Point but haven’t played it yet, as I’m still getting through the first game.

I wanted FEAR but my system was too shitty, so I bought STALKER instead. STALKER is scary enough, and it’ not even a horror game :-\.

I played a little bit of it on my 360. It seemed scary (scared me in certain times) and I’d like to get my hands on a copy.

As if not play it in Widescreen, atmosphere is so much more creepy in widescreen.

F.E.A.R. RETAIL VERSION WIDESCREEN HACK

You must start the game one time then save & exit & go into:

The file is found
My Computer > right mouse click > choose Explore > then go to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR

The file is named settings.cfg & is a size of 46kb open it with notepad or a suitable editor program &

then you scroll down until you see the following & this is where you change the setings to your requirements
then resave the file in the same folder.

(I changed it to 1920 X 1200)

THEN

If you go into the game and choose … Options … Display … it will show up as 640×480 and then re-set it’s self to this res. (So don’t go into this option.)

If you go into the game and choose
… Options … Performance … Advanced Video Card Options … Graphics … it should show the 1920×1200 res in there … second from
bottom.

Obviously, change screen height and width to whatever your native is.

Ok I bought F.E.A.R. 2 for my 360 and it is MUCH scarier than RE5.

RE5 is an action game and F.E.A.R. games have way more horror implemented.

FEAR games have more jump out and scare you parts. Not that scary in my opinion, cause all you do is slow down time and rape and pillage their asses.

in FEAR 2, that rape part is the opposite.

F.E.A.R. is a pretty bad game. :erm:

Level design is pretty bland, no boss fights, enemies aren’t varied, I could go on.

I bought Fear Files for 360 today and am loving it. They were great expansions. Whilst not as awesome looking as Fear 2, they definitely set the mood and that’s what the first game did so well.
