Any fans of his music in here?

Masaya Matsuura is a musician and game creator who more or less revolutionized the music genre of games with Parappa the Rapper. Being a music game creator, his games often have good music 🙂 The music in the games listed below are known for being very quirky (like the Stage 5 bathroom rap in the original Parappa) and many enjoy them for their humor.

Parappa the Rapper (PS, PSP)

Parappa the Rapper is a game where you push buttons to the music in order to rap. If you follow the pattern exactly, you will beat the stage, but if you make your own unique mixes on beat, then you will be able to go to "cool" mode where you can have all sorts of freedom.
Some songs:

Stage 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g1m_P4d-PI

Um Jammer Lammy (PS)

This game is like Parappa, but you play as Lammy and you use a guitar. As a twist, once you beat the game with Lammy, you get to play similar versions of all (except one) of Lammy’s songs, but rapping with Parappa. This game technically has the most songs in any Parappa game.

Stage 4 Lammy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQXQdANfjL0
Stage 6 Lammy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cekdBtBPRm0
Stage 4 Parappa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wx89gGRxU4

Parappa the Rapper 2 (PS2)

The true sequel to Parappa is on the PS2. The songs change depending on how well or not you do, and each song has their own difficulty levels.

Stage 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVhbYAJCNhA

Masaya Matsuura is still making music games, like this Wii game called Major Minor’s Majestic March.

So anyhow… any fans of Parappa and/or Lammy music in here? Or Masaya Matsuura’s music in general? Any favorite songs, etc…? Love/hate any stages, etc…?

(p.s. I tried hard to make this thread only about the music of the games, and not the games themselves, but if this topic should be moved, then so be it…)

What a great thread! I love the imagination and music of these games! 🙂

Yes, I completely agree. These games are quite fun, but if it wasn’t for this game’s imagination and quirky music, I doubt that they would be anywhere near as good as they are. Sometimes my friends and I quote the songs randomly.

(Once, during a Valentines dance I helped organize in High School, I played the Bathroom Rap. Good times.)

The music in those games are great, and will get stuck in your head and the temptation of singing them in random spots will be at a high level.
