Some of the guys over at Romhacking.net are tackling that FFVII NES pirate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC-ervoOpAM&feature=related) found a few months back. I’ve downloaded it and while I wouldn’t play the full thing it’s shaping up nicely. Plus, not only that but they’ll be re-doing that graphics to look a little more FFVII-ish.

You know, I have always been so curious about this project. It looked… interesting. I don’t know, though, if I have the nerves to sit through it. It’s old school big time, so it is most likely difficult beyond comprehension.

Edit: You know, this looks pretty good:

That’s pretty cool, although I’ll never play this ever.

although half of the instruments would be missing from each track, it would be nice to hear some of the FFVII music (at least melodies) re-done in 8-bit instead of hearing random songs from the NES games.

This will probably take a very long time.

very cool. It will be very interesting to see it in 8-bit

Yeah good on them, but that’s a lot of work..

Not so much a lot of work as it is a waste of time.

I haven’t heard much about this, but from what I gather, isn’t it just a "port" instead of a sequel?

Yeah, it’s like the FFX for NES hacked port (made in China IIRC). None of it’s official, so they will never be released onto the market (not through legal means anyway). It seems interesting, but I don’t really see the point in it. You could just as well download RPG Toolkit and download FFIII tilesets to make an exact replica. Also no Yuffie = fail…

They are also re-doing the graphics as well, so FF3 tilesets aren’t relevant

If this is actually good when the project is finished, I will play it for sure. It looks good.

The game looks like it was hacked from FFIII
