I just saw 2.0 movie (BluRay quality) (http://www.thoranime.org/?p=667). Nothing to call home about (…out of place CG effects, etc).
But I haven’t seen the original in a long time, and it’s still a Great movie .

Thanks for this. I own the original in dvd and I think it’s a masterpiece of anime, and it shouldn`t be touched or altered with new stuff. Would you like to see Raiders of the Lost Ark now with 30% more of CGI Nazis or something like that?:naughty:

I will have to agree with jedinewtype. Saw the 2.0 version this weekend. While it was definitely pretty with some decent cgi, it did nothing to change the original. A few voice changes were made that kinda bugged me. What I don’t get is the original was such a watershed moment in animation history imo it did not need to be touched.

yeah, I agree.
Why do re-makes or touch-ups when it was one of the best Animated movies of its time.

"Ghost in the Shell 2.0 is a renewal version of the 1995 film produced as part of celebration for the release of The Sky Crawlers in 2008. For the Version 2.0, all the animation were re-produced with latest technologies such as 3D-CGI, and the soundtrack was also renewed.

"All the voices were re-recorded again. Notably, the voice actor of "Puppet Master" was changed from Iemasa Kayumi to Yoshiko Sakakibara. Some dialogs were changed from the original.
