Now im sure the idea has come up before but i did some searching and couldnt really find a thread based on this idea.

We all know FFXII: Revenant wings has incorporated some RTS elements into the game but what im thinking of is in terms of a much larger scale use of the system. As many spinoff games as there are off of the main RPG franchise, it might not be a bad idea to look into a genre that they can focus a lot of their might.

A friend and I were talking the other day and we got to thinking that Square-Enix might be able to pull off a completely RTS dedicated game. For one thing if they were to try out this idea they could please a lot of people by incorporating characters from all of the different final fantasys that have come out. Another thing is that if they did bring in all these characters they wouldnt have much need for new character development since they have thousands of creatures (fiends included) they have already made. After seeing the way they made the FFXII remake it even occured to me that they could incorporate that kind of idea into the single player campaign so that some of the original RPG style wont wear off. They could possibly even do a split single player campaign where you can choose whether to take it from the RPG point of view or the classic RTS one.

If anyone has ever played some of the more well known RTS games of our time (such as lord of the rings, empire earth, age of empires, etc) then you would notice some things that can be incorporated. For one thing in these games a popular function is being able to summon heros that are in some way more significant and powerful than ordinary soldiers. It is possible to use this system to either bring a couple of the main characters into play, or even some of the summons which brings me to my next point. In empire earth (as well as some other games) there is a unit you can create called a prophet which comes with a sort of MP bar and when it gets to a certain level he can cast a spell. From there we can use this towards either black mages, white mages, or even summons. Also if the main character ‘hero’ attribute as brought into play we could incorporate their limit break, trance, etc. abilities into it as well.

This is just a small summary of the ideas that i have been coming up with endless variables. I know that square-enix probably not come to terms with trying to create this type of game on their own but my idea is that if i make a demo of this type of game and present it to them, then they may take it and adapt all the professional touches they add to their other games. So my question is, would this idea work, and also, would it be a worthwhile game for other FF fans to play?

I actually think they should not involve Final Fantasy in any aspect if they were to develop an independant RTS title.

Something new, fresh, and exciting would be much more welcomed tbh.

Some good ideas there though.
