Another hype thread for another great RPG, this time around, exclusive to the PS3! Sega just may have gone through a rebirth : after Sonic rehashes after reshashes, flops afte flops, the studio has developed a rare gem of impressive quality.
While not perfect, IGN has given it a 9.0, calling it "one of the richest, most rewarding titles I’ve played in a long while" (US IGN review here (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/925/925395p1.html))
Visuals are cell-shaded, with a storybook "feel" to the general artstyle.
The music composed by the popular Hitoshi Sakimoto, reknowned for his work in Final Fantasy XII.
Here is the OST (236kbps VBR, tags are translated into their proper english names) : Valkyria Chronicles OST (http://www.filefactory.com/file/b5be5c/n/Valkyria_Chronicles_OST_rar)
PS : Beware, filesize is 293MB.
For those having trouble downloading the entire single file, I have posted a 3-piece batch here :
Part 1 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/d8f6ab/n/Valkyria_Chronicles_OST_part1_rar)
Part 2 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/b51f26/n/Valkyria_Chronicles_OST_part2_rar)
Part 3 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/ab7c5c/n/Valkyria_Chronicles_OST_part3_rar)
Glad to see everyone’s enjoying this English re-release of a game that just may be the PS3’s Sleeper GOTY.
More so for Final Fantasy Tactics, the much better of his work. 😀
Thanks for the upload!
Anyway, I’m eager to see how this is…anyone who’s heard it have some general impressions of how good it is?

I have to agree with this, I thought the Final fantasy 12 soundtrack was awful, haven’t heard the Final fantasy tactics soundtrack yet, but he did a great job of the Breath Of Fire Dragon Quarter soundtrack.
And thanks for splitting it up into 100MB parts.
Many say FFXII is also the weakest among the newer-generation Final Fantasy titles, but once again, we have the habit of comparing it to other Final Fantasies: if we were to separate ourselves from this stigmata, and view this jRPG on its own merits (pretend it isn’t called "Final Fantasy XII", but rather "The Dalmascan Crusade", or something, and you’d realize it is a great jRPG in its own rights).
They have a track like that on the album, but it has vocals. Its called "Succeeded Wish". I was looking for it without the vocals like in the opening movie. I dont believe this track is on the album itself. Which kind of sucks.
Btw, since this is actually the jap version ost, all the vocals r in Jap 😛
So I was wondering if anybody could find the english version of "Succeeded Wish" sung by Hedy Burress? It definitely has a different feel to the jap version sung by Megumi Toyoguchi. Burress’ rendition seems much more plaintive and powerful.
I want to know that too. Ah, and to all those who complain about the FF12 OST. I have almost all music of Hitoshi Sakimoto, and I really like them all. He is one of my favourite composers. One thing I like about his style is that its really distinctive to him.
Well, one could also say, the music sounds always the same, if he is not so positive about it. But thats true! He has been using the same samples for over ten years now. From his PS1 games as Vagrant Story to PS2 FF12 to this one now, there are many titles you could interchange almost without noticing.
One Example: the ‘Main theme’ of Valkyria Chronicles is NOT new, you know? Just listen to Closed Lea Monde from Vagrant Story, the first half is almost the same. And that is with many titles. Dont get me wrong; I really, REALLY like his music. But I just cant understand how people can say nah, FF12 music is shit, but FF Tactics music is great.
Unfortunately, I’ve been looking for an official English release for Valkyria Chronicles, but to no avail. We’ll have to wait for an official statement by Sega regarding an official English OST release date.
This means that those of you who looking for "Succeeded Wish" sung by Hedy Burress (Rosie’s English Voice Actress) will have to make do with this release until an actual English OST is announced.

theres another big song missing. its called something with "love’ in the title. its the english opening. theres also a second version of the song which is the song rosie sings at the funeral. i DLed the soundtrack hoping for just these two songs, but THEY ARENT THERE! 😛
oh well. thinks someone can rip them from the game for me? you can access them on the music tab. like i said, they have the word "Love" in the title. and arent too far down the list

I was also looking for "Succeded wish" without the lyrics, but I just can’t seem to find it anywhere… Hrrm!
i take that back. the main title and one of the battle tracks is cool but the rest is filler and ahhhh i can’t listen to the rest. disappointing.
Here is a link to Succeeded Wish minus the vocals. So which haxxor would be kind enough to convert this to mp3 and upload it???

Come check it out and enjoy my other awesome lossless hitoshi sakimoto music 🙂
Just started playing it and immediately had to get the soundtrack.
Cheers.

Taken from the youtube video posted above. Don’t complain about the quality. ^^
I never knew Hitoshi Sakimoto composed the music though– But I like his style; it’s quite distinct.
