Questions with opening chest (relating to Zodiac Spear)

Hey guys I was just wandering if I did something terrible wrong.
Here it goes,
During the palace in rabanastre, I was specifically told not to open the elixir chest (if you know what I’m talking, this relates to getting Zodiac Spear). But somehow, I pressed the wrong button and opened the chest, I was literaly shocked, so what I did was pressing start button and quit to the main menu. When I came back to palace none of the chests were in the palace, but I did not get Elixir or any others. Does this mean I cannot receive Zodiac Spear later in Nerubis?

Please help this newbie out >.<

Besides that, i’ve never heard of that problem. What I would do is reload your last save and see if the chests are still not there. If not and you think this might be a problem, I’d start a new game. Trust me, you’re still really close to the beginning and the Zodiac Spear is definitely worth it. As a side note, I am aware of a chest that randomly spawns the Zodiac Spear at a rate of 1/1000 (although the specific location escapes me at the moment). This is the only other way of getting the spear after opening any of the four chests.
