Mega Man/Rockman Music Thread: Home For All Mega Man Music

NOTES:

-As of 3-3-2010, this thread has undergone it’s 2nd overhaul. As such, it will be organized differently from before.
-Soundtracks with ** next to them indicates my own personal work through conversion and such.
-Over the last few years, Capcom has started to crack down on anyone looking to make a profit off of doujin albums so a few of them may be more difficult to come by because they may not even exist on the net. Just something to keep in mind.
-Most of the music is hosted on Mediafire because there are no download limits and of all the hosts I’ve used over the years, it’s the most convenient for me to use. A few mirrors exist for some soundtracks thanks to the generous forumites here. They are given credit if a link is used.
-Everything is mostly MP3 but FLAC formats are supported when available.
-Due to mysterious editing issues (Jessie also ran into a similar problem in his thread) not all of the music will be listed in the first post but rest assured, all of it is on the front page.

Music is listed under five main categories.

Official Releases: All albums that have received an official release, physical or digital, will be listed under here, including doujin albums. A link to VGMdb indicates track listing and when the album was released. You can usually find scans that came with the physical copy included with these downloads.

Openings/Endings/Commercials:
You can find the opening, ending and commercial track albums under here. Look in the third post to find these.

Fan Soundtracks & Game rips: These aren’t official soundtracks but they exist because sometimes the official score is messed up (see Capcom’s Rockman 7 OST for a good example), or there isn’t a full blown soundtrack to begin with (Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X). Also music that has never gotten the official release treatment can be found here. Look in the third post to find these.

Fan Games & Rom Hacks: In order to give you even more Mega Man/Rock Man music, we have a selection of music from the numerous fan games and rom hacks. With Mega Man’s popularity increasing by leaps and bounds, music from the fans continues to grow. Look in the third post to find these.

Its not that hard Get Foobar2000 its an experimental media player get a plugin that will play nsf format heres the fun part foobar has an option to convert files to whatever convert them to wav files then use windows movie maker to make them into avi files then convert then to mp3 using a avi to mp3 converter its time consuming but if your like me you dont feel like paying for it i did it with FF VIII and IX soundtracks using foobar and I know it works for super nintendo im sure theres a plugin for any systems sound format its the were in the year 20XX for christ sake

Mega Man ZX and Rockman X7 OST are up in the first post. Even though X7 sucked, the music was great. I highly recommend you guys DL the soundtrack.

Thanks. I’ve had a lot a free time on my hands over the last few months so uploading things I have hasn’t been a problem. Some of the more elusive sounds like Rockman Strategy and such could be a pain to get but we’ll see if we can get ’em.

BTW, guys, that Super Famicom version of Rockman & Forte is done in stereo, I believe. I can put one up that’s non stereo if you like.

Also, the Saturn rip for Mega Man 8 outside of having the exclusive tracks has slightly different some from the OST. Not a bad thing, but the OST also has some tracks that the Saturn version doesn’t have. Basically, what I’m saying is, it doesn’t hurt to have the OST and the Saturn rip for MM8.

The music for MMX1-3 posted is free from the errors that the Rockman X1-6 Collection suffers for anyone that’s interested.

Ultra, Exhaust, MIN, Deus Ex Machina, Exile, 2DX, and Constancy are all done in 8-bit NES sound format. So if you like 8-bit MM music, I’m positive you’ll enjoy those. I personally feel that MIN is the weakest of the bunch but it still has some good tracks. Most of the MM hacks have 8-bit versions of Mega Man music or 8-bit versions of other game songs.

As for the rest, it’s pretty good stuff. Road to X sounds a touch MIDI, but it’s still a good listen. I’d give it a B-. Mega Man GB Arrange has a lot of good stuff on it, even if some songs do sound the same. Maverick Hunters is only 4 songs long but it really freaking good. You can’t go wrong with R.O.C.K.MAN.

Mega Remixes 4-13 have been added to the front page. These are compilation remix albums I did a while back. Remixes come from New Grounds, OC Remix and various other sites. If you downloaded the Mega Man Mega Mix albums, you’ve probably already heard some of these songs, but you may find some you haven’t heard before. When I made these, I tried to focus on compiling tracks of MM music that doesn’t get remixed that often.

It’s part of Rockman X1~6 Capcom Music Generation Family Computer Soundtracks, if you’re interested. Contains the complete soundtrack and even some unused remixes!

Fun fact about MM9’s music: It may sound like NES music but it wasn’t made using the NSF format. As a result some notes in MM9’s music are out of the range of the NES’s capabilities.

So what would MM9’s music sound like if it were made with the NSF? Mathew Valente has recreated the entire score score in NSF form. It sounds similar to the actual MM9 ST, but if you have a good ear, you can tell the differences. I’ve converted the 34 NSF files that were in winamp to mp3s. Give it a listen.

Mega Man R is up. This soundtrack consists of songs I’ve picked out from 20A3.org’s music archive for a Mega Man game I’d like to make reality some day. A few of the tracks come from existing NES games but most of it is from the hardworking chiptune lovers at the aforementioned site. The info list included tells what track is what, but if you prefer to be surprised just listen to it without checking the info list out.

I had a feeling I’d forgotten something. I thought South Pole from MMZ2 was the only ice track in that game. I may have missed one from MMZ3-4 as well, but South Pole sticks out in my mind the most as far as ice-themed levels in the Zero games.

I would but Rockman Unprecedented isn’t finished yet and I don’t have the NSF file for it. Mega Man Returns is also unfinished. I’ve been trying to contact the author of Blood Plasma’s music but he hasn’t replied. I’ve had no luck getting Rock Beat 2.

Is it original music made by the people behind the game or just existing ones converted into 8-bit?

I’ve actually been wanting to get the music for Rockman Strategy but it hasn’t been easy. I don’t know anyone that owns the game and Capcom never released an OST so it could prove difficult to get.

There isn’t a soundtrack for Rockman Strategy, other than gamerips, of course, which I’ve yet to see.

Well I’ve found a way to turn pttune to wav and then mp3 so I’ve got some more 8-bit MM/RM music coming. Bad thing is, whoever made the songs didn’t make most of them loop so most songs only play once. But I figure I’d post ’em anyway. I’ll try to have ’em up ASAP.

As for Rockman X1~6, someone else uploaded that version. I can upload mine, I’m just not sure if I I should use Megaupload, FileFactory or Mediafire. If I use FileFacory and Mediafire, I’ll have to break the rar into parts since I’m not a paying member. I also need to slap mine with the CD cover art.

Well I am gonna try to put together a Rockman Rom Hack Audio Collection, similar to what Capcom released with Mega Man 1~6 and MMX 1~6. The first collection is going to consist of MegaMan Ultra, Rockman Exhaust, Rockman Exile, Rock Man Deus Ex Machina, Rockman No Constancy, and Rockman 2 MIN. I just need to get better mp3s of those game’s audio. The one’s in this thread all go on for 3 minutes.

Also, the following rom hacks are in the works; Megaman Forever, Rockman Mind Roar, Rockman Unprecedented, Rockman ABNormality, MegaMn Ultra 2, and Rockman 2 Grayzone. More 8-bit audio to look forward to.

Basically, I think we had some people in China tapping into our stuff that had the ol’ bandwidth dials spinning like tops and running up the bills. Just go to the page, head to Universe (I’ll talk to the guys about adding a more direct link from the front page), and down the sidebar on the left, under Multimedia, is the music section.

Sorry to have it so complicated, but again, we’re trying to kind of stem the hemorrhaging flow going on, so I do ask that if you’re going to download, please try not to kill us all in one shot. ;P

I’m gonna see about including that in the Rockman Rom Hack Audio Collection. I think TAR did a much better job on the music in that hack than in Rockman 2 MIN.

Why Capcom hasn’t released a Rockman World Collection is beyond me. The RW World games are probably better known as the Game Boy MM titles that use roman numerals. EX: Mega Man IV. I don’t see it Capcom releasing a collection anytime soon, so I decided to throw a collection together on my own. Done in the same manner as the Rockman 1~6 collection, this soundtrack collects the music from all 5 Rockman World games on 3 discs.

Fun fact about Rockman World 2/Mega Man II: Whenever Mega Man would shot his arm canon, it would slightly alter the sound of the music. While it was fun to screw around with during gameplay, I’ve always preferred the unaltered tracks, which is what we’ve got here. The RMW mp3s are 99% sound effect free, save for "TopMan’s Stage" in RMW2, which just has the teleport sound effect at the beginning but that’s it.

I’m sure you’ve heard of a program that easily allows you to convert MIDIs to somewhat NES quality music. Depending on the MIDI being converted, it’ll be hit or miss in the sound department and from what I’ve read on the net, it’s a love hate thing with the convert because it isn’t on the same level as a program like Famitracker. Misterio, I recommend downloading all the dope MM music your computer can hold, man. But if you’re looking for more precise recommendations, get the Rockman 1~6 Soundtrack Collection as well as Rockman X1~6. As for the Mega Man Animated Series, I can’t recall if a soundtrack of the American version ever saw release.

If you’re reffering to the PSX version that’s in the Rockman 8 Metal Heroes OST. The tracks in this soundtrack cover the PSX game. The Mega Man 8 Saturn rip has nearly all of the PSX tracks, and the Saturn exclusives like Cut Man & Wood Man’s Mini Stage. Also, Tengu Man’s stage is has Saturn Exclusive track.

Too true. I did manage to find a Crashman remix (it was either on Youtube or Newgrounds), but the MMII game had some really good arrangements.

Incidentally, which pack or remixes would have some stuff from X2, would you know? I think all I’m looking for are Overdrive Ostrich and the Sigma stages and fight music.

Unfortunately, none of the remix packs have remixes of those tracks to my knowledge.

I believe both Rockbuster and Flow – Rockman Arrange 2 CD have samples of each track on their respective sites. There isn’t much information on All of R2 and I was pretty lucky to find two copies of the album for sale. I opted to not buy both of them because there’s another individual on Yahoo! Auction Japan that is buying up every Rockman doujin as well and he puts up quite a fight.

I’ll also like to contribute since I was making stereo versions based on the nsf of the games, so far i have Megaman 1~3 and 9 (using TSSF nsf with his permission).

You mean recommendations? You can’t go wrong with the Classic, X, Zero, or Battle Network soundtracks. As for doujin, there’s a lot of good fan-made albums. My advice, since most of this stuff is on Mediafire (unlimited downloading), just pick some albums and see what you’d like.

Like the title implies, it’s a remix of various Rockman tracks done in chiptune fashion. From the looks of the tracklisting, every game in the original Rockman series is going to be represented, plus some other games related to the the original series (like Rockman Battle & Chase and Rockman & Forte) will be given some time on the soundtrack.

Like the title implies, it’s a remix of various Rockman tracks done in chiptune fashion. From the looks of the tracklisting, every game in the original Rockman series is going to be represented, plus some other games related to the the original series (like Rockman Battle & Chase and Rockman & Forte) will be given some time on the soundtrack.

Heh, beat me to it. I’m hopping we can get our hands on that one.

No, thank you. I agree completely with what you said. I live in Canada, and for me to import albums from Japan isn’t exactly cheap, especially for the rarer ones. Furthermore, Lackadaisical, who are you to be saying stuff like that when you’re frequenting a forum that has threads such as these that post lossy and lossless music?

1) Since I’ve joined this forum, I’ve only uploaded one album (out of print) and I did that privately through PM with an individual [of reputation] who had the intention of purchasing the album.

2) I’m not positive about this, but I don’t believe there have been many download links to lossless Rockman soundtracks in this topic, so why bring another topic’s business into this one when there’s nothing to suggest that there is lossless sharing going on here? If someone had several lossless soundtracks they wanted to share, I’m pretty sure that they would have posted them here by now or even the "Lossless VGM Download" as that topic is frequently bumped. TheAxeGrinder could have opted to make a request topic like you did, but seeing as you already requested several Rockman soundtracks in lossless format as well, he could have just piggybacked on your topic.

3) You act as if I don’t pay anything to import Japanese music into my country of origin. It’s not as cheap as I would like it to be (espcially the importation of out-of-print albums), but that’s just the way things are. Do you really believe it’s OK for someone to get something of monetary value for free just because it’s not cheap enough for them? What’s also interesting here is that you inadvertently defended someone who lives in Canada where the import cost isn’t that much different from someone who lives in the US. How exactly do you intend on defending his case now?

4) You know, there are other ways to get some video game soundtracks in mp3 format without having to buy the actual soundtrack. Final Fantasy soundtracks, in particular, are easy to find on legal mp3 download sites, so I would like to know if you paid for the Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack that you mentioned you downloaded in the "Final Fantasy OSTs & other Square-Enix music" topic. If you did not pay for it, I would like to know your reasoning behind your belief that you are somehow exempt from paying for that particular soundtrack when it’s available for purchase in mp3 format [via Internet download].

1) There are other places besides Japan to order video game music from, but I suppose you’re opposed to paying any type of shipping fee, right? I ship video game music to Canada on a regular basis and the postage costs aren’t high enough for you to complain about it.

2) My usual role on this forum is to provide information as sometimes there are questions I can answer, opinions I can give on certain discussions, or I can correct some misinformation when it pops up.

3) If you can’t afford to purchase physical copies of video game music, then you should be grateful for just having the albums in mp3 format [like the majority of users here]. I mean, just because a song is in mp3 format does not mean you cannot appreciate the music, right?

Though all of this is assuming that you cannot afford video game music when I believe you can — It’s just that you’d rather spend your money on other stuff that amuses you. After all, why would you want lossless music if you didn’t have the right equipment to properly hear the quality?

4) The "it’s not only about money" argument is weak because if there was no money involved, then they probably wouldn’t be composing [as much] music. They do not make music solely because they enjoy it; they do it partially because they get paid good money to make music. I also don’t see many composers/distributors handing out several free copies of their soundtracks [to those who enjoy their music] on a daily basis.

5) We (as in Americans and Canadians and several other nationalities) don’t have to pay for music we listen onto the radio because there are advertisers and donators that keep radio stations afloat. The are exceptions like premium radio services, but that’s somewhat different. I don’t believe there are many people that are charged for humming a tune (humming cannot replicate a song in its entirety), so I have no idea why you brought that up. And lastly, when you purchase a CD album, you don’t have to pay for a song each time you listen to it — You buy the CD once and then you are entitled to listen to it as many times as you want.

6) Fundamentally, a lot of things should be shared? That’s just not how this world works, buddy.

I specially liked the compilations for the Rockman Hacks and the Rockman World Series… none the less… I need to point a few things (two to be exact) XD

For example, in the hack compilation, in the tracks that are taken directly from the Rockman 2 game, while "Capcom sound Team" is somewhat correct, is much more correct to set the artist tag to "Ogeretsu Kun, Manami Ietel, Yuukichan’s Papa" or either "立石孝、松前真奈美、坂口由洋" whose are the know composers XD

And, in the case of Rockman World II, is know that "Kenji Yamazaki" (kanji: 山崎憲司) was the composer of that soundtrack o.O

Of course, this is information for those that want hyper-perfect tags XD

I have a question: If there are only 4 of the boss level songs in the zip file for Rockman complete works 2, does that mean there weren’t CD arranges of the other 4 levels?

Is it that elusive?

In the two years [and some months] I’ve been searching for Rockman doujin soundtracks, I’ve seen four copies of that particular Rockbuster soundtrack available for sale. I purchased two of them.

Now, in comparison to some of the other Rockman doujin albums that we know exist in CD format, seeing four copies of the same Rockman doujin makes it feel like there is an abundance of them. Half of the other Rockman doujin albums, I’ve only seen once or not at all.

I gotta say. The only thing worth it on that rip is the title theme. I seriously can’t fathom why Capcom didn’t redo all the music to sound like BN5DS at least. That game even had a redone version of the BN 1 battle in it :|. The link is appreciated, though! 🙂

I’ve been wanting that 8-bit Destruction Begets Decay for ages and can’t find it ANYWHERE.

I’ve been wanting this one as well but as of now, one hasn’t turned up. I’m not a ripping person as it’s much easier for me to convert SPC (SNES audio) to MP3 format. I do, however, have this hack and if someone wants to take a stab at ripping the music, by all means. I was planning on compiling another rom hack audio collection for the upcoming Rockman/Mega Man rom hacks. Believe me, there are TONS in the works.

Thanks! I was aware of this projects existence for some time and was wondering how to go about getting such an extended project into this thread. Some of the songs were already used in the Mega Remixes and Mega Man GB arrange albums I compiled but with the thread overhaul, I think I’ll just reupload them into THR Rockman Project as they become available.

This is original Mega Man music composed by RushJet1. Over a year ago or so he he started work on an alternate MM9 score and it evolved into MM 9.5. This is a single MP3 file consisting of nearly 15 minutes worth of music.

By the sounds of it, the majority of the bonus disc [which ain’t available yet] is just tracks from MM9 as they were on the original 2 soundtracks. There’s a medley of all the 9 bosses as an extra, but that’s about it.

I have that soundtrack and I didn’t seem all that special. Out of the 3 Rockman doujin that I purchased around the same time (Rock Buster [the better version], All of R2, and Flow – Rockman 2 Arranged), I personally believe that the All of R2 one was the best as the better tracks are "symphonic rock".

All in all, I wish they would stop arranging Rockman 1 and Rockman 2 music so much.

Anyone know anything about a Rockman.EXE Battle Chip arcade game? I’d be curious to know if the music is any good (I thought I read that some navis had remixed robot master music, or was that in the gameboy?).

Yeah, no **** dude. It is rather annoying that all the nostalgia seems to stem from just the first 2 games…

Oh don’t get me wrong. I am quite a fan of the music from the other Rockman games too (3, X1, Rockman and Forte, 9, Legends). I’m merely curious about flow because I get certain impressions from its album artwork. Would appreciate if you could upload them, but if you think I’m better off without listening to those, it’s up to you. 🙂

I’d say that my collection is more complete, but if your collection was ripped from legitimate CDs, then I congratulate you on having a fine Rockman collection.
