I might be getting a PSP for christmas and I have a quick quesiton, is war of the lions worth it? (I’ll be getting other games to but that’s the main reason)

There is an existing thread for this.

Careful though, there may be some unmarked spoilers. But you can get more opinions form there 🙂

I’ll still post in this thread anyway. General Final Fantasy doesn’t get too much action. It’s good to have more than 2 threads to post in.

I think the game is great. I had more fun playing it then I actually thought I would. If you get a PSP. I highly recommend getting it. I was skeptical when I first bought it. Because it wasn’t the Final Fantasy i had been used to playing. But after an hour into it, I really began to enjoy it.

There are plenty of extras to keep you going too. And depending on how much time you want to commit, you can spend hours leveling and earning special job classes.

In my opinion, its an essential TRPG for any PSP owner

Is it that good? I heard they allow Dark Knights, what about Holy Knights?

Are you not bothered about spoilers? Because it’s hard to explain how you’re right in one aspect, but wrong in another, without giving away some of the story.

It’s a great game.
In my opinion it has one of the best music scores of the series.
And it also has a storyline that flows very well, and puts a lot of thoughts into you. It’s also cool for the Shakespearean language they re-did it with.

Best game of all time almost, FFT, why not get the re-release?

Personally though, I prefer the original PSX version over the PSP release, typos and all. The new translation suffers by trying to emulate Old English too seriously – coming across as a vainly patronizing rip off of Shakespeare. That, and Square Enix’s insistence since FFXII to add superfluous ‘k’s into words like magic and academy just seems silly.

Still, the new animated cutscenes are beautiful to behold, and the music is unchanged (although I have noticed some tracks sound a little shallow, possibly due to emulation problems). And the gameplay is just as good as it was back in 1998, even better now that I can take it with me. There is some slight lag though when units execute attacks and abilities though sadly, although I have heard it’s nowhere near as bad in the US and European versions as it is in the Japanese version.

And, at least PAL territories (Europe, the UK, Australia etc) finally got to experience this game, having missed out on the PSX version back in the late 90’s, so, if you own a PSP and enjoy complex stories and strategy RPG gameplay, I definitely recommend this game. 🙂
