Rare Video Game Art Book Thread

O.K. Here’s the deal. I created this thread a year ago. Got sick and had to sell everything. Any dead links I can’t fix because I don’t have the scans anymore either. I figured people could contribute to the thread, but with me not having the time to update the first post to reflect the new links, it forces people to have to scroll through endless messages. So I created a google site at http://sites.google.com/site/ffshrineartbookthread/ pass: ffshrine security question answer: 757-555-5555. So if someone wants to add to this thread, they can add the links directly to that page and post the update here. I am trying to figure out how to add a table that can be sorted either by date or alphabetically at will. Remember to pass the rar or zip with ffshrine, also you don’t have to worry about anonymizing your links since you would be accessing them from that page instead of this one, and make sure to note the publisher. It’s up to you guys now. If anyone has a better idea of how to be more efficient, then post away.

1.Each catalog has at least 3 previews to help you decide if you want to download it.Every thumbnail preview is clickable to pull up a bigger version (though for many still not full size), and in browsers they still are scaled down. (I remember what it was like on dial-up and I’m trying to prevent those guys from spending 4 hours downloading something they won’t like).

2.Also where known the actual names of the art books in each series will be displayed, these are not my rips/scans, I just find them, and most don’t say.

3.Each file has a WAG extension, just rename it to RAR to unpack the file.This is done to prevent administrators on hosting sites from scanning for and deleting large cabinet/compression files.

4.The pass for all files is ffshrine with the exception of Okami, it’s pass is okamiffshrine

5.Post saying thanks, it’s not an ego thing. First it bumps the thread back up top where people can see it, and second why do something that takes alot of time if you get the impression noone cares. Take Sarah’s advice and thank the uploaders.

6.This thread will be continually updated.Check back often.New updates will be added to this original post in alphabetical order.

Hello Nocturnal Risk. It’s me again. This time it worked, and I know now what was wrong last time. I renamed the files AFTER downloading, and then my computer said the files were defect. This time I renamed them before downloading, and everything is fine, I could decompress them without problems. However, thanks for your effort!

Alpha&Omega, I downloaded the BioShock ArtBook from the link on in my thread, the pass ffshrine worked fine. I’m sorry if your having issues with the file, but I checked and it isn’t the file itself,the pass, or the links. All I can say is try again. Sorry and GL. Let me know if you still have issues.

Alpha, type it. Sometimes when you copy+paste it in, you get an occasional space at the very end, which is often why you’ll have problems.

I had trouble extracting the Castlevania files with WinRar, but I then tried 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) and I was able to extract the files. I hope this helps anybody who may come across the same problem.

OK, apparently filefront has gotten wise, they had a no-delete policy, but apparently they are deleting anything that they can’t "inspect". All the files I uploaded were bogus file extensions and passworded on top of that,I am re-uploading and replacing all the filefront links,even those that still work.I am still looking for a service that doesn’t delete files after 7 days without a download and won’t pull what filefront just did, any ideas?Oh and I hate using Megaupload and Rapidshare because after you get 1 file you have to wait 15 mins to get another, which is bs.

Make sure you aren’t capitalizing the password, it’s case sensitive i believe.

Is the Half Life 2 book unzipping properly for everyone else? It always stops part way through for me and asks me to find some mysterious file called "HLpart1.r00."

I downloaded the Half Life 2 book to check it, it unzipped correctly, no problems….be sure you download both parts, rename the extensions correctly, and type the pass correctly.Whatever is wrong is on your end, good luck.

What program are you using to uncompress the files? I used the actual WinRAR program for all compressions (mine’s registered but the shareware version still works even with the nag screen) it does not start with 00, it always breaks files starting with 01.Make sure you are renameing the files correctly, just name them 0.rar, 1.rar, 2.rar etc. to make sure you are doing it correctly and see what happens, everytime someone complains about a file I go to the trouble of re-downloading the entire lot just to make sure they work properly, and they do. It’s on your end, use a different uncompression program if that doesn’t work, DON’T trust windows to do it.Let me know if you get it.

i dunno that much about adobe, but is there any way that i can take out the art from the adobe file or something? or make the art into a jpg file?

DevilmanG, the best image extractor I’ve used for PDFs is Adobe Acrobat’s own. If you have it (comes preinstalled on some computers) you’ll be privy to that lucky option. If not, the best freeware solution I’ve used (for PC) is Some PDF Image Extract (http://www.download.com/Some-PDF-Image-Extract/3000-2079_4-10836441.html?cdlPid=10873370) which converts every page into a jpg image, text included. Not exactly image "extraction" more than "conversion", but for artbooks I’d think it’s enough.

awesome, there’s so much great stuff, but part 1,2 and 6 of the metal gear arbootk collection seem to be corrupt. downloaded them two times, but extracting still doesn’t work.

I suppose it’s easier to view them on a PC. Anyway, with Adobe Reader you can export .jpgs from PDF, actually there should be various softwares that do the same, try to search 😉

Just change manually the extension from ".wag" to ".rar" 😉

O.K. Here’s the deal. I created this thread a year ago. Got sick and had to sell everything. Any dead links I can’t fix because I don’t have the scans anymore either. I figured people could contribute to the thread, but with me not having the time to update the first post to reflect the new links, it forces people to have to scroll through endless messages. So I created a google site at http://sites.google.com/site/ffshrineartbookthread/ pass: ffshrine security question answer: 757-555-5555. So if someone wants to add to this thread, they can add the links directly to that page and post the update here. I am trying to figure out how to add a table that can be sorted either by date or alphabetically at will. Remember to pass the rar or zip with ffshrine, also you don’t have to worry about anonymizing your links since you would be accessing them from that page instead of this one, and make sure to note the publisher. It’s up to you guys now. If anyone has a better idea of how to be more efficient, then post away.

Yes I have the shadow of the colossus art cards in djvu extension. It is about 5 pages only. However, I have uploaded the following bundle which contains the djvu reader as well. I used to keep the official art book in my hard drive. But I was not able to find it. I guess there were two of them. I mean two art book releases for this game. I also used to keep it in djvu. Meanwhile, I can not find it now.

So for now, take a look at those pretty card notes. Please install the contained djvu reader before.

Also it’s a bit sad that only US version of Demon’s Souls collector edition is somewhere here coz it has less art then EU’s. I’m trying to clean up space in my HDD, but I should be able to re-upload something first. I don’t have much to offer at the moment (Dark Souls+Dark Souls Ⅱ artbooks, Dragon’s Dogma Official Design Works, a few Resident Evil Books’ scans which I’m frankly not sure fall under the ban in place, Metal Gear Series [+Peace Walker one]), but I may be able to recover some stuff.

I know it’s not exactly a pure video game art book so I’d hate to ask here, but I’ve been searching forever for a download of "The Art of Simon Bisley Redux" (ISBN-10: 1932413790
ISBN-13: 978-193241379).

The book itself has become rare with copies going for crazy prices. Simon Bisley has done art for comics and some games as well. If anyone has this or can point me in a direction to find a download, would greatly appreciate it 🙂

Okay, just looked at them now. The SFII one is a pretty neat artbook, lots of concept art and interesting pictures. No "01," though, so no cover. I have no clue what it is. 🙂

The Timesplitters ones are just the Prima Guides (I guess I put them in the wrong folder, I have a whole ‘nother folder for guides).

The Ys Collection is all of the promotional stuff that came with the Steam version of the game, artwork, .BMPs, .PSDs, and some other interesting goodies.

The Legaia 2 one is the Prima guide, as well. Let me know if you guys are still interested in the guides, I’m uploading the Ys collection and the SFII one right now.

For those curious, this is the original Japanese version of Street Fighter Eternal Challenge. It only contains the first 96 pages (out of about 270) and is therefore missing a ton of game and character-specific information as well as interviews and the like. Well worth the download, but this is the context of what you’re looking at.
