I’m kinda sick of using iTunes to rip my CDs. From what i’ve heard, iTunes is quite possibly the worst at ripping CDs. I’ve also heard that LAME is the best mp3 encoder, but it’s a pain to look for free cd rippers that uses LAME. so my question is, what is the best free CD Ripper out there that uses LAME? thanks.

I was just turned onto dBpoweramp CD Ripper, and it’s the best I’ve ever used. It uses LAME too. I’m sure someone here will send a link your way. Sorry I don’t have one for you.

Is LAME and that ?FLACC? really worth it?

I mean, I see it being advertised over 128 MP3, but for someone who listen to almost all his music on an IPOD or Laptop is it really worth it?

Uhm, you can rip cd’s with lame using foobar 2000. My music player of choice. You can rip flac too, mp4, ogg as well, anyways for you foobar will get the job done, but it only rips cd (on my pc) up to 192kbps. If you want 320 rips use EAC.

Foobar website

Exact audio copy website

I hope these help you.

Edit:
In my opinion, the ipod sucks, find a better media player… Uhm, you can’t play flac on an ipod, so I can’t tell you if it sounds better… But if you just playing stuff on your laptop.. I guess it doesn’t matter. Uhm, try to listen to some flac stuff and see if you can tell the difference, if not don’t worry about it. I’ll keep flac to myself, lol.

Find another player…

I uploaded this a while ago… see if you can tell the difference

I may be wrong, but CDex might be your best choice. Free, for Windows and uses LAME to enocde. You can download it from downloads.com or its official website.

Have fun ripping! ^_^
