Hello there, fellow gamers!

Lord Magister here, with a thread that I hope hasn’t been done too much already. Basically, We go back to our past and post or name our favorite VGM from the 8-bit systems of the day. (Nintendo, Sega master system, MSX, and the like) You know, the the kick ass songs that just take you back to the day s of our youth and are still awesome even today, despite the musical limitations of it’s time.

I’m hoping to get enough suggestions to perhaps start a 8-bit video game music rumble or something.

Anyway, I’ll start things off with two that are on the top of my head.

http://www.zshare.net/audio/17583458f99b3e58/

First off is a BGM track in Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos. This is easily one of my favorite songs from NG2 and is best remembered for being used in the wind and snow stage (2-2) but it had a few other appearances in two other stages.

Next up hardly needs no explanation for those that have played this game. This is the first stage music of Blaster Master. It is simply kick ass music for a kick ass game. actually most of Blaster Master’s music was superb but this is the one I remember the most.

Now at this point, some people are probably wondering, "why hasn’t he mentioned (insert famous and easily recognizable vgm from equally famous and recognizable game here)? Why? because I didn’t want to be too obvious and I also wanted to give you a chance to name your own favorites and tell your own stories about them. Well, that’s all from me for now. I hope these thread does well and does it’s job.

Note: that you don’t actually have to post links to the song like I have and you can just post the name. I just posted the links so that you may have a chance to hear these songs for yourself if you haven’t heard them before.

Additional note: the list of 8-bit music DOES NOT include the Turbo Grafx games. while the processors were indeed 8-bit, the music was not. I may do a thread for 16 bit games in the future.

Not necessarily my favorite piece of 8-bit music, but certainly one of the more memorable songs from that era of video game music: The cyborg rider theme from Xexyz (NES). You hear it first in stage 2-1 after receiving Zebox, your first cyborg rider, and although it’s relatively simplistic, the melody is very catchy. The rest of the Xexyz soundtrack is pretty decent and overlooked, much like the game itself.

If you haven’t experienced Xexyz yet, then you have been denying yourself a good time.

I always liked the Target: Renegade opening theme, don’t know if u guys ever played that game or not. The game kinda sucked, but you always got pumped up to play when u saw the title screen. I wonder if its been ripped??

Another is Ninja Gaiden 1: stage 4-2…I believe it was called bazilisk mine field? Anyways that was great also.

If I remember to find the links I will post them for you all, maybe you could make a greatest 8 bit hits zshare cd out of it.

edit: its on here! search target renegade….p.s. if anyone could combine tracks 1 and 2 of the soundtrack and post it, that would be awesome, as that’s how it sounds when u first turn on the game

here’s the megaupload link to just the theme: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2SOWM1GO
