Also, just for a test run, I was gonna see how far one would be on average in Disc One by the time you learn it, assuming you use Aeris in every battle when she’s available, and NOT go out of the way to level up. Staying on the story’s path, and so on. I WAS keeping tally count of how many foes Aeris beat and how many times she used the Limits she had to use.
It turns out that even if you do take advantage of Fury (which I did) and follow the above rules about staying on the story’s path, you’d be just before or already in the Temple of the Ancients. I’ve done this on two different playthroughs (last time was a year ago) and ended up being in the TotA both times. So that’s official proof that going out of your way is a must to learn it for whatever time you have left.
I guess it makes sense considering how cheap it is that it’s buried. I wouldn’t doubt this has been tested before, but just thought I’d share those results. Also I find the way to go about getting the item is almost as absurd as FFXII’s Zodiac Spear.
At least you have a (albeit small) chance of working it out without a guide. You’d have to be lucky enough to find and talk to that old man when the two final digits of your battle count match, but if you remember that the Weapon Seller needed materials you’d know where the Mythril goes. Then it’s a 50:50 chance whether you’ll pick the right box. Slightly less obscure than the ‘don’t open any of these four random chests’ method for the Zodiac Spear.
That’d be a really retarded idea. And an even more retarded theory.

I actually meant, they gave her the awesome level four limit break because they killed her off so quickly, that makes more sense than the other way around.
They might have even added some of the strange side quest items for the sake of making the official guide bigger.
I’m leveling my characters to level 99 right now on the first disk. I’m at the part where you gotta talk to the weapon seller about the key stone. If you go further then you’ll find your stuck with aeris and cloud in the party at all times. Everyone is level 76ish. I got level 4 limit breaks for Red XIII, Cloud, Aeris, Yuffie, and all of Cait sith (two). everyone else has their limits to level 3.
I’m leveling up at a green patch near mideel. You can get there with the tiny bronco.
What a load of shit. As if Aeris was the first fictional character people would cry for. Yes, let us forget the countless tear-bringing on-screen (or off-screen for those who read those things called books) deaths in favor of a fucking flower seller with a personality as deep as cardboard.
u didnt cry when cid died in VI??
"hack, cough, wheeze"
But Cid doesn’t have to die if you don’t want him to. Never mind that, though– how about Galuf from FFV?
NO POINT NOW
Oh, P.S., as far as the VI spoiler goes, that’s a relatively minor character. It’s not really going to ruin too much to know that going in.
I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU, EVER!

TM is a doo doo, consider yourself forgiven.
I never really used Aeris much, just because I knew what was going to happen and I never had much use for such a weak character either. I only used her for healing. (obviously…)
I just so happened to know the secret to the spear after 90 hors of gamplay from some guys on another forum… It really is absurd.
That’s silly! Unless you don’t open every chest within arms length of the storyline, the 4 chests are..2 from when you get out of the dalmascan prison or somewhere around there when you get your weapons back..those are the two that are "not leading to believe there’s no reason to open" whilst the 4X4 chest formations on Phon Coast and in the Necrohol of Nabudis hint just a bit as to some semblance of importance or secret item-ness.
