Have you also heard that FFVII is teh gr8st evar!

Or that FFVIII’s characters have personality?

Or how about don’t believe everything you hear?

FFII is probably the worst game of the FF series (excluding Crystal Chronicles) I wouldn’t recommend buying it unless it’s pretty cheap.

If you actually consider yoursle a ~true~ ff fan, I’d probably pick it up. It’s not great, though.

It’s astoundingly easy. You can whack yourself to get to 9999HP before leaving the first town.

I know. I did it.

I’d say check out some gameplay vids before biting. I personally find it to be the worst FF, hands down.

Oh Neg, you know this can be interpreted so wrongly~

It’s as hard as all the first ones where and the dungeons can be quite frustrating (just like in the first one – hopefully you’ve played it and have some idea of what to expect). Also as someone mentioned in some parts you may not know what to do or where to go next but this is something that could happen in many other games. If you are a fan of the series and want to see its origins definitely buy it. Regardless of what other people say about it – it’s actually a great game. FFII was the first in the series which had characterization. It was no FFIV but it was a great step from the first one which had nameless and with no personality characters. It also had an innovative system – in my opinion maybe the most innovative of the series – and it grieves me (kinda – lol) that even people who consider themselves smart can not see that. The new system totally abandons leveling up and instead your characters’ skills are raised depending on how many times you use each. For example if one character uses only attacks then his strength is raised. If he uses magic then his magic is raised. If he uses a certain weapon (axe for example) then his skill with that weapon is raised and his attacks are more effective when he uses it. What could possibly make more sense than that? Of course the particular system prevents you from having an all around fighter cause if one skill is increased it’s "opposite" will decrease (strength increases – magic decreases) but it’s not something that should bother you. After all you couldn’t have an all around fighter until FFVI (FFV being an exception but to do that you had to master multiple jobs and that took an eternity). Anyway I’ll end it here. If you think you can put aside the frustrating parts definitely give it a try.
