BlueChild, there already exist several ‘Delete my account’ threads such as this one; you really didn’t need to fish for one that hasn’t been active since 2008. Also, as Arthurgolden stated, your account will not be deleted. You only have one post, which is to request a deletion; there’s really no reason for you to require it gone. All you have to do is leave this site and never return if that’s your wish; deleting an account with only one small post seems rather pointless, don’t you think?

If you look at the dates, though, they’re from 2010 and 2008.
They were either deleted during that hack that deleted the staff accounts or account deletions were done back then.
Still, I think what I said remains valid; obviously account deletion is a topic that keeps on coming up… so I think it would be only right to let people know that there’s no backsies before they join (on the signup page, for example).
A sticky thread in this section entitled "READ THIS before requesting account deletion" would solve many problems. A thread without obscenities or yelling or attacks – just a thread which neatly and calmly states that account deletions won’t happen to there’s no point in asking…

You can send PM’s when your post count is around 10… meaning you have to contribute to the forum. Might I suggest perusing the other subforums and making some posts?

It is not the policy of this forum to delete accounts. Rather they are kept in case one decides to take a leave of absence and then return at a later date. If you do not want to come back, then I suggest you change your password to something you’ll easily forget and not come back.

Again, the reason for the brusque nature of the responses, is due to the fact that what you are asking for has been answered numerous times, not just in this thread but others all asking the same thing : Delete my account. After having so many people ask the same thing, the nature of forum regulars who see threads of this nature appear, is to attack… tooth and claw, because it often implies that the person asking this question, has not bothered to read the responses answering this same question.

The members of this forum are nice people and do use the appropriate tone to discuss with others. Like I said, it’s only when people post the same thing again and again in a thread where their question was already asked and answered multiple times, it gets on the ire of other members, hence why the commentary.
In summary:
To post a PM, need to have at least 10 posts made and wait at least 24 hours to send PM’s to other members.
It is forum policy to keep accounts and not delete them.
Change your password to one you’ll easily forget and do not come back.
Read and understand the previous posts in a thread you are thinking of posting in, BEFORE doing so.

You just don’t understand the site’s policy and think that continually posting about it, will eventually get your account closed.
Just accept the fact (and it IS fact by the way), that your account will NOT be closed. As I’ve said, for the third time now… if you don’t want to come back here, then change your password to something nonsensical so it’ll be easy for you to forget and leave.
After all my years here, and seeing more inane and idiotic posts asking this… my patience towards those with the intellect of a pissant, is nonexistant.
All you are doing is aggravating the situation and will undoubtedly cause others to respond in more abusive/derogative manner. You asked a ‘honest question’, to which the ‘honest answer’ is : No, your account is NOT deleted. Accept this and move on, don’t stay and keeping exasperating the situation. All it does is paint a negative light on yourself, as one who did not read the fine print, before signing the dotted line.
This is not happening at random. This is happening for very specific behavior. I don’t think he’s insulted you yet. I don’t think I have either. I was explaining his behavior. If you think you fit the model described, then you would have to agree you’re being an idiot.
In any event, it should be apparent by now that this is not an argument you will win. I leave it to you to how you consider someone who continues in the face of futility to be described.
Nope, I am not to blame for someone else’s abusive/derogative manner, for I have done nothing to merit such treatment. I simply asked a question. If people choose to speak to me rudely that’s their own choice, not something I caused or deserve.
