I tell you Zoran it was a month and a half downloading from a p2p. It was APE format, so it was another 2hrs ripping to cd. Another 2hrs ripping to mp3. 4 hrs compressing them. 6-7 hrs uploading. Your reply made it all worthwhile. Thanks bro. Any fan of YAMATO is a friend of mine:)

@Delta 01/138 & Mewsie…It has been my experience with Sharebee that depending on some of the hosts servers the files are slow to upload from the users computer. It is important for the user to check the SB links once it tells you are at 100%. If a host or two has not completed transferring the files and the user disconnects or deletes the rar/zip files, well then the user is screwed and the peeps are disappointed.

Excellent prices for these films though the rips are not up to todays standard (they really need remastered sets) they are good enough. I recommend the 5 movie boxset. It has a series history booklet included.

These are R2 rips of the 3 Japanese TV series from hong kong w/Japanese audio and english subtitles that are very good.

I have these and they work for me.

On a side note I just finished watching Otakotachi-no Yamato. It’s about the real story and the final mission of the real IJN Yamato. It is very good. You can find it on e-bay but they are R3 and you need a multiregion dvd player to play them.

You are VERY welcome desslok (or Desslar). It is very hard to find Yamato music online. This is my personal collection. I agree about Yamato being my favorite too. Space Battleship Yamato is one of the great Sci-fi-Drama-Adventures’ of any medium…PERIOD!

Do you have some form of burning software? Most software will naturally convert .mp3 to .wav (or .cda). If you want it as a .mp3 CD, you will need to find the software for it, as not all burning software comes with it. EasyCDCreator, and I believe EasyMediaCreator (not sure on the real differences between the two) can do it. There are probably others too… you can look it up online.

Edit: extracting may be necessary first though.

If you did this you should have 1 folder with 12 tracks and a folder with images.

Here’s one heard on Starblazers (but not Yamato.) It’s the disco version of the Comet Empire theme. It originally came from an album issued after Arrivederci came out. My apologies for the sound quality. (It’s a transfer from audio cassette, that’s a dupe of a cassette, that’s a dupe from an LP and that I got 25 years ago.)

The other side of the Yamato musical coin is the one that features vocal performances. It’s easy to forget how many of them there were until they are all collected on one CD, as they are here. From the original version of the opening theme to the last of the many songs produced for Final Yamato, there are no fewer than 17 Yamato songs, all of which were available as 45 rpm singles at one time or another. Just to end things with a bang, this CD closes with a new jazz version of the main theme that simply oozes with nightclub cool.

EDIT: This really brings back some memories…not just of an awesome show but also a time where shows had good and catchy theme songs.

My dad was the one who first introduced me to the wonderful world of Star Blazers too and then it was our combined interest that led us into our love for the greater Yamato saga as a whole. Truly some great times.

Give me some time, but why is sendspace killing you?? I find it most reliable.

Im just wondering, because I had a lot of problems with online file servers. Are you using a translation program to view the page you are accessing the link from? I found when going through a page that was being viewed through a translation program that file server links would not download. Why dont you try to copy the link and then open a new page then paste the link so that you access sendspace directly, then try to download.

The Final Yamato BGM link on page 5 is still working. Or are you talking about another record?

There were certain tracks of music featured in Yamato series 2 that were not included on the ???Eternal Edition??? CDs. They’re only available on the extremely hard-to-find and long out-of-print album called ???Yamato: I Adore the Eternity of Love.??? It is what we would call today a remix album, containing disco versions of many popular Yamato themes. It was released on LP in Japan way back in 1978, and is now a coveted collectors??? item.

However, that coveted collector’s item can now be a part of your Yamato music library!

It is probably the slowest of the Yamato movies and the most elodramatic. Even die-hard Yamato fans have called it "Drag On Forever Yamato". I recommend the movie but I am a Yamato completist. Still be warned, though it has its share of action it is one of the dialogue heavy anime films you’ll ever watch.

I think theres one soundtrack in there that I havent seen posted, something called Yamato the Best II. I think I saw a request for it on here but i don’t think it was posted.

These 2 cds only have 4 tracks between them, each track about 30 minutes. I’m going to up them in their entirety first, and then tomorrow or the next I’m going to up a "redux" version where I separate the actual songs and cut out the talking parts (and there are alot of those…).

I’m going to encode at 192k. I think everything of this vintage come thru fine at that bitrate. If people feel really strongly I’ll go up to 256, but personally I can’t tell the difference.

I’ve got 3 more releases in mind, one of which is the complete Sound Fantasia discs. IMHO the first 2 Symphonic discs are pretty much the "essential" along with BGM Pt 1 and Pt 2, but these are fun and sometimes funny discs, too. (Actually Sound Fantasia rocks pretty hard. Except when the meteor launches in the middle of the "Universe Spreading into Infinity" scat – that’s kind of awkwardly funny.)

Jager – I have a couple drama recordings but 1 is on vinyl and 1 is on cassette and I NEVER listen to them. Also they are in Japanese. The best drama recordings I ever had were when I used to put a panasonic tape recorder next to the speaker on my B&W TV back in the 70’s and tape the show. 🙂

(also Eternal Edition 5 has 4 tracks at the end which are part of the choral/piano record. I guess they didn’t have room for the whole album.)

How does BGM Pt 1 compare with ETEd 1?
Answer: EtEd 1 contains every bit of BGM 1 except for the TV theme song which is found on the EtEd 11 I think.

How does BGM Pt 2 compare with ETEd 2-4?
Answer: EtEd 2-4 contains all of BGM 2 EXCEPT for these BGM Pt 2 tracks:
1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 25, 31, and 36.

Also it turns out that EtEd 2-4 actually REPEAT music cues. I had to separate all the cues individually to determine this since they are bunched into longer tracks. In fact I deleted more than 20 minutes of repeated cues from these 3 CDs (some of the cues I deleted were repeated from EtEd1). I’m sure this is old news to Japanese fans but this was quite a surprise for me.

Which ones do you need?

I had EE 0+1 and EE 4 in CD form and managed to DL 7, 8 and 9, along with part 1 of the 2+3 set but the remaining links are dead.

Leiji Matsumoto is God in my book and SB Yamato has been my classic favorite since i first saw it in 1991 (though my favorite Matsumoto character is Cap. Harlock) going as far as to buy the PS and PS2 games just for the animation clips ( idi finish both PS games though. LOL)Getting these soundtracks became increassingly dificult so your thread was a Godsend for me.

I apreciate any help you can give me.

As for the Captain Harlock EE, the only ones i have were found on these forums. The only CDs i have are the 1st volume of Harlock Saga-Der Ring Des Nibelungen and SPCH-Endless Odissey, wich are also being shared here. I’ll check on some OST Backup Discs i have but as far as i remember i only have the Original TV score CD, The Symphonic Suites, My Youth In Arcadia OST and Volume 2 of Harlock Saga. If i find any of those you’re looking for, i’ll post them.

As for the Captain Harlock EE, the only ones i have were found on these forums. The only CDs i have are the 1st volume of Harlock Saga-Der Ring Des Nibelungen and SPCH-Endless Odissey, wich are also being shared here. I’ll check on some OST Backup Discs i have but as far as i remember i only have the Original TV score CD, The Symphonic Suites, My Youth In Arcadia OST and Volume 2 of Harlock Saga. If i find any of those you’re looking for, i’ll post them.

Thank you so very much for your generosity, this is a real gem!! I remember having gen-to-gen copies of the karaokes and English Yamato songs on cassette, thirsting for any form of Yamato soundtrack music no matter the quality! Ah this brings back memories when Star Blazers made its impact on fandom in the early 80’s and the fellow fan I befriended who was incredibly generous in lending me her BGM tapes!

Yes, the last track is sung by The Alfee. I got one of the CD Singles (didn’t know there were 3, not really sure wich one i have) from a asian torrent site (i don’t know if i can say wich one) in MP3 at 320 kbps, riped by LonE. Contains 3 tracks, "Dedicate My Love" (normal and karaoke versions) and "Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2009 with Symphonic Orchestra". If anyone wants it, i’ll be happy to post. If anyone wants it in Lossless, it is also available at the afore mentioned torrent site.

Oh yeah. That PLEASE. 🙂

The one part that has me confused is the second to the last track, Metzler. Supposedly, if it doesn’t have a composer’s name attached, it should be, at most, a rearrangement of Miyagawa piece. But I don’t recognize it. If anybody out there does, could they tell me where it originally came from? If not, does anybody know who composed it?

So there mabe a real ost someday to be released maybe they rushed this out to please fans. Let’s hope Isoa will sing the theme one last time for the film, and hopefully a great score as well,
Shio Sagisui Yoko Kano are two who come to mind who could pull it off.

Believe me, if the movie had genuinely new music, it would have been released by now.

Just want to say "Thanks" to all who contributed to this thread. I’m sure Mr. Miyagawa and Mr. Haneda would be very happy to see their works appreciated by all. Its great to get to hear all the music that i’ve never though id hear apart form the more accessible releases. The Yamato dicso album is a hoot, love the Comet Empire track.
I have a question concerning yamato music and the Comet Empire in Yamato part 2 (t.v. series). The Comet Empire fortress heads to earth and lands in the sea causing some flooding to the coastal towns these scenes are accompanied by characters looking horrified and defeated it then cuts to the Yamato embedded in Desslars ship which cuts to the two men facing off in their dramatic duel. That episode ends there, so now on to the real question, has the music that goes along with those scenes ever been released?

I do believe(i’m really not sure) the duel face off music is on one of the cds present in this thread but is that quiet composition that goes along with Gatlantis in the sea on any of these releases? If anyone has that info can you give me a heads up.

I do have about 90% of the uploads in this thread on Yamato (thanks again) but i don’t seem to recall if those tracks above were ever released.

Well just wanted to ask that and to say i appreciate all the help with uploading the great music for Yamato. Hope to hear from you.

Here’s another masterpiece for you… I do love it when a composer is offered a massive recording budget, a bit pot of money, and is asked to just do whatever the hell he wants to do. You tend to end up with pieces like this; true 21st century masterpieces. My knowledge of Yamato music is limited (well, non-existent) but I understand that this symphony incorporates melodies from previous Yamato incarnations -into four splendidly structured movements that feel like they’ve fallen straight out of the late romantic classical period. The fourth movement in particular becomes a mini concerto for piano, violin and orchestra. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING STUFF.

There were certain tracks of music featured in Yamato series 2 that were not included on the ???Eternal Edition??? CDs. They’re only available on the extremely hard-to-find and long out-of-print album called ???Yamato: I Adore the Eternity of Love.??? It is what we would call today a remix album, containing disco versions of many popular Yamato themes. It was released on LP in Japan way back in 1978, and is now a coveted collectors??? item.

However, that coveted collector’s item can now be a part of your Yamato music library!

Of course, there may actually be new music, and it just may mean that none of the sources I’ve found list whoever composed it, but in any event, there aren’t any more albums. We had to wait a few years for the Eternal Editions of the other movies, so regardless of the nature of the missing Yamato music, we’re likely to wait several more years before an Eternal Edition of Rebirth comes out.

and if you havent seen the new movie, i highly recommend it, there are alot of inside jokes for fans and some characters that have been left out for years and years, there are even some funny moments that make fun of star blazers, making jokes about the argo

This is a little off topic. Does anyone have a complete track list of what music is used in the films and what CD’s they are on? I would like to make complete soundtracks of the films. I would really love to do Final Yamato because it features music from all 3 seasons of the TV series and music from Be Forever and probably Arrivederci and New Journey. I could probably watch the movie myself and pick through my CD’s, but that would take much more time than I have right now. I think it would be nice to have all of the music in one place whether it be on two or three CD’s or one playlist instead of scattered out between about a dozen CD’s with alternate cues not used in the film. I like most of the alternate cues too, but I would like to make a complete soundtrack that is close to what is actually used in the movie. What do you guys think?

I just had an HD failure too but I was able to recover all of my data. It’s still a pain re-formating and organizing everything again. And going through all of those dvd backups are no fun as well.

I’ve had the damned file since the 25th and i’m just bitting myself because there are no subs. Great looking movie though.

The sub par video game CG animation fluctuates from bad to laughable(Look at the Cosmo Zero fly off into the distance), and contrasts sharply against the poorly designed and animated 2d character animation. There is a shot (a hold cell really) of Sanada San that is unforgivable as an animator and I’m not sure how it passed checking, its an up shot of him and his right eye is so badly drawn i laughed out loud. TV productions I can some what understand when you run out of time and need to hack but never for a motion picture. There’s also very few shadows on the characters which makes them look absurdly flat against some of the CG backgrounds. (a lot of it seems to have been done in Korea. check the credits, there’s a lot of Korean companies.) That’s bad. Looks like they were "again" struggling with cash, this happened with Yamato part 3 seems people didn’t want to associate with Mr. Nishizaki and from what i know about him from the animators that I’ve spoken too and articles that I’ve read, hes the equivalent of a Selznick or Jack Warner. He says he loves Yamato but i don’t see it here. You can see an enormous amount of love in Final Yamato,a beautiful and complex production that pushed Yamato art and animation, now Yamato has the flat canned look of a Cartoon Network original production or Saturday morning animation.

The "death" of one of the major characters had me fuming (now mind you all i don’t understand Japanese 100% so who knows what dialog was spoken about it but their reaction was flat and emotionless, i was very disappointed) It was perversely laughable and to a character that a lot of the major human drama in Yamato hinged on. Kodai has more character spark when hes slapping the ass of a cadet then the death of this character. This storytelling is starting to stink like a liberal sci-fi writer, RD Moore rape fest of great characters, reduced to non emotional card board cut outs.

The Direction was flat and passionless, it had no cinematic "ummph"(I’m glad they didn’t go through the whole reveal the Yamato thing for too long, conversely they should have excised the Yamato launch, same ole same ole, with the thorn in your eye rock song Yamato theme. (Sigh marketing)

Music -I love classical music but the tracks here don’t help or support the so called drama where ever they are used, in fact a lot of it is a tad distracting. Again no money for original compositions, so a resort to old temp tracks with a few songs(that don’t fit since there is no real drama to it) (I’m into soundtracks so its something i feel when watching classical scores slapped haphazardly onto film).

The "Action" is a non-engaging over aggressive mess of things we’ve seen over and over again. The SUS conglomerate or whatever they are all have scenes that show the leader of each empire,planet, forces or whatever die in a bridge explosion, it was too much they did it to many times and the therefore we become used to it. They are bad, Okay, they die in the same way.
This goes for the non-involving character of Metsu(sp?)(maybe some of the dialog explains his reluctance to wipe out Yamato, certainly some of the action/confrontation explains hes not a happy camper but its too rushed) The tank battle against the Arab styled city and inhabitants is starting to stink of anti American involvement in the middle east area. We don’t need that with Yamato Mr. Nishizaki, we don’t need that.

I wish there was something i could find that i liked with this film but i cant, Okay i like Kodai with the Beard all grungy, they should have stayed with that. Maybe it would have explained why he is no longer emotional as a character, but i doubt it. Anyway sorry if i stepped on anyone’s toes here, I had to rant, i was so looking forward to a new Yamato but I’m saddened and depressed that this and that horrible looking live action Yamato abomination are the final nails in this coffin. I’m so sad.

P.S. The version i have is a 2 hr and 15 minuet version, so isn’t there a 2 hr 35 min version? I’m not sure. That version maybe the one that allows the characters to be real. Who knows.

thanks JonC i will look for the discs you mentioned , actually i heard it once in an Arabic localized yamato season1 ,
it aired with the theme song without any lyrics , i searched for it it a lot without any luck. maybe it was never released in any soundtrack collection and was only provided to tv broadcasters .i hope maybe someone has it.

Thanks. I have only done Final so far. I hadn’t planned on doing the TV episodes, but I may eventually. My next project will be Be Forever. I did Final first because I knew it would be the hardest one since there are so many CD’s for it and since it takes music from everything before it.

Yes, but did you see in the sidebar that Yoshinobu Nishizaki, the co-creator of Yamato fell off his boat and DROWNED!!! He is dead RIGHT before the movie is released! The Anime world has lost a GIANT in the genre an innovator and marketing genius! 🙁

These translations are, of course, subject to change based on listening to the entire album and especially seeing them in the context of the film itself. But they’ll do for now.

Listening to the samples I have the impression more of a concert piece than an actual film soundtrack. But one can only tell so much from 40 second bits.

Would someone be able to upload the 2-CD Set: "Final Yamato"? The links download. But, Track 10 on CD 01 has errors. And, Track 06 on CD 02 has errors. Also the 2 tracks that were uploaded of 06 and 10. Are a higher bitrate at 320. When the original bitrate was at 256. And both of those tracks are from a different album. So would someone be able to upload the actual CD in its entirety?

I’m guessing you’re refering to the version used in the opening credits, since most of the other versions have no vocal…
There is a karaoke version in the "Sound Fantasy" album, the one with all the SFX tracks. Unfortunately, it’s only missing Isao Sasaki’s vocals, the background vocals are still there.

That version seems to be made for that game and no score for those has been leaked (to my knowledge). The Main Theme has known many, many versions existing in one form or another in every Yamato production. But it was throughout the first 2 series and movies (IMO) that it was presented in its most pure forms. In later productions the theme has been either reused cues or woven into other themes, supperbly in the live-action score :). I collected the main iterations of the theme from that "Golden Age" along with the karaoke and the Symphonic Suite version and will PM you a link ASAP.

Glad to help. Those clips are truly awesome but youtube doesn’t do them justice. I got both the special in wich the 2 clips were featured (a show called SMAPxSMAP) and the Making Of wich has a lot more goodies, even if you don’t understand most of what is said, both in HD quality. Now that does these clips justice. They’re available on most good anime torrent sites. SMAPxSMAP is worth it for the 2 clips, for a show of some movie props with the actors and a surprise apearence by Isao Sasaki singing the Yamato’s Theme. Besides that it’s all a bit silly. The Making Of is a must have, though much time is used up in interviews, the bulk is footage from the movie and behind the scenes stuff. They’ll have to keep me going ’till the movie comes out in one form or another. 🙂

I have the PSX games, including the "Quest for Jura" Disc, the "New Voyage" for PS2 and managed to download the 2nd game from the "Be Forever Yamato" Game. Played and finished the 2 original PSX games. The rest i just extracted the animation clips. The one in PSX games are good but the PS2 clips are true HD bliss. Beautiful animation throughout. Wish the last movie and future projects had this animation style though being made in Matsumoto’s style, with all the quibles between him and Nishizaki (that i doubt will disapear with Nishizaki’s death), i very much doubt. I always wished for a remake of the original series with the games’s animation style and updated story. If you ever get the other games would you be willing to share (at least the clips)? If anyone wants the stuff i have i’m more than willing to upload them. Good luck in your hunt.

Just wanted to pop back in to let you know that I returned from Japan a couple of days ago, and want to let you guys know that YAMATO is FANTASTIC!!!

I saw it 4 times!!

They seem to borrow more from the first two films than from the actual first series, and they changed the gamilas, but other than that it’s DEAD ON!!

Over all I was very pleased, and got some cool YAMATO loot…though not the soundtrack, as every time I saw it, I had limited cash, so put it off till it was too late – last three days were in Tokyo, and by then, no one had it anymore! Even at the theater I saw it in on my last night!!

Anyway, my friends there tell me that films released this time of year usually hit dvd in the spring, so not to much longer to wait till you can see it!!

Yeah, I know, and having just rewatched the second film (haven’t seen it in over ten years), I can say that they DEFINITELY use material from the second movie…the live action is a comglomeration of the two – The first series (or film, depending on your POV) and the second, NON CANNON film.

I can’t wait to see it again – I’m trying to hold myself over with the animated stuff, and the soundtrack, and the making of, but it’s already nearly too hard to wait!! LOL!!

Other than that, there’s an "anime only" theater in..er..San Francisco (I think), ran by one of the anime importers…sometimes they do live action screenings for longer runs (they did this with the DEATH NOTE films). I know it’s a long shot to see it if you don’t live nearby, but…

While I was in Japan, my friends told me that films that come out the end of the year there typically make their way to dvd in the spring, so yeah, if nothing else, as JonC said, we’ll start to see rips show up online then.

HOWEVER, Japan being the land of non-boots, Taiwan and the like are NOT, so we might see some craptastic cam job before then show up.

EDIT : After looking around a little, I found the article again – it was shown at a distributors fest of some kind in California.

In fact, when a song is shared between two parts of files (for example between file part.1 and file part.2), there is the message: "The file ….. is corrupt".
Perhaps I can not make good use of the application winrar.

Two suggestions to help with this problem. (1) Make sure you have the latest version of WinRar or 7Zip programs. (2) If the two parts do not extract correctly after upgrading your software it may be necessary to download them again. If the problem persists then it may be something went wrong during the packing of the file but if that was the case I think others would have mentioned it.

The Commander lifts his hand and a stage curtain rises without a sound. The prelude is heard to the ballet Swan Lake! Odette the ballerina dances onto the stage with Siegfried in a brilliant performance. The music is powerfully performed by a full orchestra!

I ended up finding and listening to all of Swan Lake last night at youtube, and I didn’t recognize any of it. 🙁 Here (http://www.starblazers.com/html.php?page_id=245) it talks about the music composer was influenced by Tchaikovsky, so perhaps he wrote that piece himself. I also listened to the two Be Forever cd’s, and didn’t find it anywhere. 🙁

Sadly , the quality is poor .

That version of the first teaser is either an early edit of the new Great River or another track entirely. Guess we won’t know until we get a soundtrack, soon hopefully. 😀

I got the subbed files in 720p 8bit (10 bit just doesn’t work on my PC or TV) for archive purpose and the Zero-Raws version for higher quality. I’ll keep an HD and SD archive. I’m that much of a Yamato nut. XDDD Oh, and i just got the actual Blu-Ray. Even though i don’t own a Blu-Ray player. Yet, i guess. XDDD But i admit, i got it in an auction and mostly because it comes with Yamato Crew’s Yamato 2199 Ship Journal Volume 0 and the Lotteria Clear File (wich i already have so that one will go to eBay) 😀

At this time there’s no announcement for a score CD. The only music released was the single i posted and there’s a second single coming with the new end song (not really excited about that). Great River was ripped from the Blu-Ray release, i believe it’s the menu BGM.

The soundtrack to the DIRECTOR’S CUT of S.B.-Yamato Resurrection will be released on August 22. I’ve not seen this cut of the film yet, but I’ve been told they replaced all the classical music from the second half of the film with new arrangements of original music from the series. It’s supposed to be a truly epic album.

On the Yamato 2199 front, still no true soundtrack release, but another 4-track CD is planned to release three days form this post, on June 27.

I’m not sure what episode of season 1 where that piece originated, but it is on the Eternal Edition File 1 CD. The faster version is on track 3 from about 3:30 to 4:02 and the slower version is the first 30 seconds of track 9. I know the piece also appears in season 2 when everyone on Earth is panicking and wanting to evacuate after the defeat of the EDF forces.

Having heard this piece a while ago from Tangotreats’ original share, it’s simply too good to remain unavailable. My own, new rip and scans of the artwork. Description from the original post:

I do love it when a composer is offered a massive recording budget, a bit pot of money, and is asked to just do whatever the hell he wants to do. You tend to end up with pieces like this; true 21st century masterpieces. My knowledge of Yamato music is limited (well, non-existent) but I understand that this symphony incorporates melodies from previous Yamato incarnations -into four splendidly structured movements that feel like they’ve fallen straight out of the late romantic classical period. The fourth movement in particular becomes a mini concerto for piano, violin and orchestra. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING STUFF.

If you’re talking about track 32, that is pretty much the same as in the original. The guitar is a bit more pronounced but the basic theme is the same.

I know what happened now. RapidShare changed the default folder permissions for all accounts in January; since I wasn’t using folders I couldn’t alter these settings. What follows is basically this story (http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php?topic=4853.0) which, by my own fault, happened to me today.

I discovered this website jcd4share (http://jcd4share.com/). I found some shares of composers we all love and also lots of brass band albums. Ok, let’s download them all. Huh, each share is uploaded on filemates.com (http://filemates.com/). Whatever. I’ll just register to a premium account for 30 days to get what I want. This being my first premium account, I was of course really excited how fast I could download them all. After the download has finished, I wanted to extract the rar. Prompt message of that rar being corrupt. Whatever. May the next share please not be corrupt.

After two downloads, I discovered that each rar had the same file name. So, it was all a scam. I didn’t check beforehand. Later, I found out that jcd4share is operated from Hong Kong. Warning sign no. 1? Maybe. filemates.com doesn’t allow free users to download. Premium account is required. Warning sign no. 2. All this sharing of fake links probably just served one purpose: Him/Her getting hits and later getting money. Luckily, I stopped just after two downloads.

I guess the lesson is if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably fake. But this mastermind really put some effort into tricking me. While I was still fooled, I checked if his share of a recently released soundtrack was indeed…recently released. Everything fit…

I was pretty angry for falling for this trap. It’s probably not even a new scheme… Anyway, my filemates premium account definitely works. If you ladies and gentlemen happen to find filemates links for soundtracks, I will immediately send you the log in links. Unfortunately, lots of users use filemates just to upload video games and pop music. Not really orchestral.

I got done by the same thing. Duped into joining filesmates.com in order to get a DVD rip of the recent Final Fantasy Vana’Con concert.
Queued up 8gb download. Came back twenty four hours later, realised all files were the same.
Played file – it’s a four minute video of somebody zooming in and out on a packet of cigarettes with a shaky camcorder.
Absolute bastards. :/

Edit: Just looked at jcd4share.com – it looks identical to the site that screwed me over. I can’t remember what it was called – but it’s the exact same design, exact same everything. Obviously the same guy.

1982 was the year that individual members of Symphony Orchestra Yamato stepped forward to make their own musical statements. Guitarist Yoshio Kimura, Pianist Kentaro Haneda, and Violinist Tsugio Tokunaga had played key roles throughout the production years and earned the nickname “Yamato Trio.” Kimura had been with the orchestra since the first Symphonic Suite, Haneda joined up for Farewell, and Tokunaga brought his virtuoso talent to Be Forever. All three had shone many times and were now celebrities in their own rite.

These three ‘Rhapsody’ albums rearranged Yamato scores from across the saga (up to and including Yamato III) to favor each of their own instruments. They were titled Mellow Guitar, Fascinating Piano, and Romantic Violin, and were equal in every way to the standards of the symphonic albums. Haneda did not actually perform on Fascinating Piano, since much of his time was devoted to co-writing the score to Final Yamato. Instead, he took on some of the arrangement duties and made room for secondary pianist Toshio Suzuki.

Thanks a ton for this! I’ve been trying find some of the Sound Almanac releases and all I’ve found was a few dead links. But that means they were out there at some point before they were pulled down. I think there were a couple other "rhapsody" albums in the almanac set. Hopefully over time others show up here with any luck.

Here’s another masterpiece for you… I do love it when a composer is offered a massive recording budget, a bit pot of money, and is asked to just do whatever the hell he wants to do. You tend to end up with pieces like this; true 21st century masterpieces. My knowledge of Yamato music is limited (well, non-existent) but I understand that this symphony incorporates melodies from previous Yamato incarnations -into four splendidly structured movements that feel like they’ve fallen straight out of the late romantic classical period. The fourth movement in particular becomes a mini concerto for piano, violin and orchestra. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING STUFF.

The 2009 recording is overall superior but this one was first and has a special charm all of its own – and Haneda himself at the piano. It’s great to have it, particularly as it has been properly remastered and is sounding INFINITELY better than its earlier CD release. A rare thing; a Japanese remaster with dynamic range that actually surpasses the original release in every way.

Oh, that Comet Empire track with chorus is fantastic!

Ark of the Stars IS NOT a side story. It is part of 2199’s story, taking place between episodes 24 and 25. I have the Blu-Ray soundtrack but given its coming out in CD i’ll wait to compare the 2 and at that time i’ll post the CD rip, along with any tracks from the Blu-Ray mix that might have turned up different due to the mix, along with a couple of extras. 🙂
