So I just watched the anime (my cable company offered it OnDemand, woot!) and damn have I forgotten how awesome it is! I haven’t seen this anime since… 2002. I must say, I am compelled to buy the manga collection. After reading up on the differences, the manga (like usual) sounds loads better than the anime.

Also I watched the remastered version, which apparently has different english voice actors. Has anyone seen the original version with english dubs as well as the remastered? If so, can you give a comparison? I did notice Kateba originally being voiced by Cam Clarke (Liquid Snake in the MGS series) so I wonder how that sounded.

either way. i’m glad you told me ondemand is showing the "new" one so i can see it for myself and compare.

i’ll let you know what i think after i watch it again for the 40th time. :p

I just literally rented from netflix (hurrah!), but I got a question about it.
First off, I always watch my anime in Japanese with Subtitles. How can you watch it in english? <,<
Second, I only made it 40 minutes through (started watching at 3am; bad idea), but it seemed sorta…wierd. Is it really as awesome as I hear (no, I’m not a heretic)?

I just watched it a few weeks ago after not seeing it since….well probably about 2002. Probably because I wanted to revisit it before the live-action version comes out.
Frankly, I have no interest in watching the English dub. I can understand Japanese well enough to appreciate the original voices, and even when I couldn’t I was of the opinion that the quality of the Japanese voices was superior in general. There are a few exceptions to this, but overall that’s my opinion.

I always thought the original dub was more honest then the knew one. I liky it with the swear, it brings more depth and even compliments the attitude of the show.

That and the newer actors stunk and didn’t fit.

Otherwise weather or not you like it with dubs or subs is up to the individual. Just watch it how you like it the most. Why should any thing else matter.
