Favorite anime/manga couple?

I’d like to know about your favourite couples, it doesn’t matter if they didn’t end up together!!! My favourite couples are:

Sakura & Syaoran- Tsubasa Chronicle

Kaoru Hanabishi and Aoi Sakuraba (Ai Yori Aoshi) hands down. They’re rather (no, extremely) impeded by Aoi’s family, but their devotion is top-notch.

EDIT: However, now that I think about it, Aoi’s devotion to (no, obsession with) Kaoru is kind of worrisome at times.

Lupin & Fujiko, although Fujiko never made it super clear that she wanted him for more than just the money.

Ah, haha. I think Fujiko made it very clear she was in it for money. Not to Lupin, perhaps, but everyone with more sense than Lupin.

I thought of another nice couple just now: Sana Hidaka and Nanaka Yatsushiro, of Myself; Yourself fame. Both of them had been terminally (yes, I mean that as in life and death) depressed for a fair amount of time. You might say they’re perfect for each other.

Just about every other couple seen in that light novel / anime are of questionable taste: Hinako raises Asami’s cousin starting from when she’s 11, (he’s 5 years younger than her, but they appear as a couple in the epilogue), and then there’s Syusuke and Syuri… who are fraternal twins that run off together. Despite their previously suicidal ambitions, Sana and Nanaka really are the only "normal" couple.

By the way, Danielle, were Tōru and Yuki (Fruits Basket) really that suited for each other? I never read the manga, and the anime was ambiguous at best.

Well Sufijo… I haven’t read the whole manga XD I’ve just started >.<, but I’ve seen the anime and they really look so sweet together. I also liked the relationship between Tōru & Kyo, but I just loved how Yuki and Tōru helped each other, how they enjoyed the time together… I don’t know… They just looked so sweet to me……

Besides… I love Kyo *o*… so I prefer seeing Tōru and Yuki ^-^ lol

Heh, I see. Despite his more pronounced curse, I always thought of Kyo as a grouch and a bit of a whiner– that was my logic for backing Yuki.

Keeping up with my pace of adding one unique couple per post, try Risa and Atsushi from Lovely Complex. It took forever for their relationship to develop, but it was all the more satisfying that way.

At first I was going to mention something from the more modern animes Kimikiss Pure Rouge or True Tears, but I hated whatshisface for dumping Hoshino for Mao, and I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Noe, who was left by herself (respectively). Even though Hiromi was always far superior (and less crazy) in comparison to Noe, Noe’s situation by the end is miserable.

I haven’t seen those yet!! *o* I think I’ll try to see them soon!!!

You haven’t seen Lovely Complex? It’s a great shōjo anime/manga. From what I remember, anyway.

Shojo and josei are somewhat hard to come by on the interwebs. In my exceedingly excellent Excel file where I store information about anime I’ve watched, however, shojo and josei have a higher average rating (4.2 and 4.5 out of 5, versus 3.4 and 3.7 for shonen/seinen); so, apparently, what appears online is quite good. Not really my favorite drawing style, but the plots are always good.

Unfortunately, Lovely Complex might be a little hard to find. I think it’s possible to see the entire series with a good amount of effort and resources.

Ah, my recommendation is using Veoh and customizing your search with the language tab in the bottom left corner of their searching results screen. From there you can select English subtitles. It’s extremely useful.

It seems like no one person has uploaded the entire series, but it’s spread across multiple accounts.

keitaro urashima and mutsumi otohime (love hina): yes, i know he ended up with naru, but i would have prefered he ended up with mutsumi, the two of them share so much in common, and she IS the girl he dreamed all this time (though it was naru who he made the promise with, the girl in her dreams was mutsumi, he just mixed these two factors in mutsumi)
