As most people know, the DS3 is now available in US stores. The price tag runs anywhere from $47 (Costco) to $55. I currently have 2 SIXAXIS controllers so I really don’t need another one, but sometimes I like or need rumble in my games. Some notices for needing are Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 with the AP sensor. Kind of hard to feel the rumble when I have none in the controller. The real selling point for me would be if GTA4 supports it. If it does, I’ll undoubtedly get the DS3. If not, I can wait until I get MGS4. I just don’t want to pay 60-70 bucks for a controller (I have no other option but to order it online) but I would like that extra level of immersion.

What are your thoughts on the DS3?

Also, does anyone know what the battery life is in comparison to the SIXAXIS?

i hear the buttons have different tones or frequency attached to them. I think maxim/blender/ FHM mentiond this. also, the rumble is not as loud apparently.

I’ve had mine (import) since December. I think its well worth it. The sixaxis feels so light and fragile compaired to the DualShock 3. Also, games like Uncharted and Unreal Tournament feel so much better with the rumble. I’d go to costco and save the $8 anyway.

I don’t have Uncharted or UT, but I’d be curious to know if the controller would work with The Orange Box and CoD4.

Also, MS, I said I have no choice but to order online.

Also also, battery life?

I haven’t notice much of a difference with the battery. The sixaxis lasts a little longer, but not by much to even worry about.

I hear it uses up 10 times the watts but same amps, .1W vs 1.W on Dual 3. They did not list the watt/hour or any battery specs in the article if i remember.

Theres lists online of compatible games,

Hmm, I had CoD4 but cant remember was there rumble or not, I think the rumble sensation would be nice(will give it a go once I am back home). But I believe it is not worth to pay extra 50 or 60 bucks just to get it. If any of your pads dies on you (I lose lots of pads as a result of wall-trauma. I throw them when I get angry), then its good to get it.
As for batteries, I did not notice any differance between the two pads I have.
