A good anime?

I’ve never watched an anime.. never found much interest in the idea of one, but I would like to give one a try. I’d probably prefer one that is with english voice actors, more serious (with a really good story, plot, etc) and probably the more ‘real’ looking (less cartoon-ish) the better.

With that in mind, what would you suggest would be a good one for me to start with? Are there any in particular that really fit the bill that I outlined above?

Embarrassingly enough, I don’t have anything in mind that meets your requirements. There are plenty of serious animes out there, but "real-looking?" And are you expecting to find a good dub online?

That’s probably not as big of an issue. I just think that if it looked too cartoon-like it would be difficult to get into it. I’m just guessing here since i’ve never watched one before. I saw a youtube video for this one which looked kind of interesting: http://youtube.com/watch?v=f9uX6nt4g78 .. the look seems kind of futuristic and 3d animation (re: Final Fantasy Spirits Within), more realistic animation than say naruto

Yea it’s pretty realistic…if the future was really gonna be like that.

That anime is top-notch IMO tho. You should check it out if you’re into deep storyline and detective type shows.
