Anyone else miss that old-school, medieval style feel that FF4 had? The modern ones are so futuristic… which is nice every now and then, but there was something magical about FF4 that no other FF seemed to capture. Of course, I played FF4 when I was a kid and there’s probably the nostalgia factor, but the others have a little less of that "fantasy" appeal to me. Still, FF10 & 12 were pretty, and a nice little escape from the real world… which is what it’s all about.

No, but I do miss the storyline, characters, espers, and overall feel of FFVI though.

I agree with you all.
By the way, I downloaded and watched the intro video from the FFIV DS OST Bonus DVD, and I realized FFIV has this "feel" to it, I do not know what to call it. Golbez and his four lords kind of make me think of Sailor Moon a little bit. Also, Cecil’s armor and the four lords make me think of The Guyver and the feel of old japanese sci-fi movies as well as the corny Power Rangers monsters (I don’t know about the new ones, but I’m remembering Queen Beryl’s (sp?) and Lord Zedd’s numerous minions). Do y’all know what I’m trying to get at here? (No offense intended to the game, lolz)

I think FF should have stayed as a medieval setting it just fits the idea so well and then you go to a futuristic setting and he’s got a sword?……maybe a lightsaber would be cooler but that’s star wars
No, but I do miss the storyline, characters, espers, and overall feel of FFVI though.

Personally, Final Fantasy IV will always be my favorite, because it was the first Fantasy that made me a fan of the series. However, I believe in evolving which is why Final Fantasy desperately needs a new character designer. But that’s a whole other topic.

yeah that’s true I guess but the least it can evolve is overtime not like this games gonna be medieval on your ass then the next games holy shit it’s a car *honk* and then back again somehow….
I guess however that would sorta break the whole no two fantasies are alike thing though. still that seems good

I miss the feel of FFIV. That was the first one I ever played, although FFVI is my fave, FFIV will always have that certain RPG feeling that is great, I think we all know that feeling, and not that feeling of making love to a womans anus, but that feeling of rejoiceingness.

Engrish:
A form of English characterized by bad translation from Japanese by someone who is decent at translating vocabulary but has a poor grasp of English grammar. Tends to be a word-by-word literal translation with humorous results for native English speakers. Engrish is most common in old video games and anime subtitles.
The term "Engrish" comes from the fact that the Japanese language does not have distinct L and R sounds. They do have a consonant that is roughly somewhere in between these two sounds, but whether this translates to L or R in English depends on the situation (and therefore can be interpreted wrong.)
