Kalm- The first town you visit once you finally escpae from Midgar near the beginning of the game, It is a quaint little mining town where the people live happily and healthily, You visit this town to go in to clouds past in the inn, Later on you also meet the Kalm traveller and I also believe this is where Marlene is housed at the end of the game.

Cosmo Canyon – Cosmo Canyon is the epitome of spiritual in the world of FFVII, They dont believe in fighting and prefer the peaceful option everytime round, Red’s Grandfather BugenHagen resides here with his huge astrology lab, Plus you have the Comso Candle at the entrance to the town where a deep conversation takes place.

I am going to vote for Cosmo Canyon because I never saw much point to Kalm.

I thought that it was the perfect first town to re-group up in after leaving Midgar. The stark difference between it’s architecture and colour palette was very welcome after 5+ hours of steel ans murky colours.

For a little while there it looked like Kalm was actually going to win but a batch of Cosmo Canyon votes pull it through to win the first battle.

Costa Del Sol – The sunniest town west of Midgar, If you are looking for beach babes in skimpy bikinis or in my case guys in skimpy speedos, This is the town for you, You can even buy your own house here. A happy town filled with happy people.

Coral Prison- After the massacre that takes place in the battle arena in gold Saucer the blame is placed on you, While there you get three creepy pervs who will not leave you alone rob your ass and are very suspect in their sexuality, A black man ruling the roost, Then Dyne whom you must kill. After that you meet the Lovely Esthar who helps you escape. Just good Pervy Fun

My vote is for Costa Del Sol I like the whole feel to it, Plus annoying red by kicking a ball at him was a great laugh.

(I know my descriptions are a bit different then normal, But everyone must be getting bored with normal descriptions I know I am)

Reason being, as it was there the background info on Barret and Marlene was revealed. Giving the player the chance to gain new insights into both characters.

On the other hand Costa Del Sol was convenient for picking up extra items, and the odd brief character interaction (at least as far as I remember) but that was about it.

WHY DO I BUY THAT MANSION?!?!?!

I personally believe that Corel Prison was a slight plot gap… don’t ask me why… I just always thought it was…

It takes up a quarter of the continent, and you can’t even access it. Goddamned developers.

Like the Barret/Dyne flashbacks.

Also Costa Del Sol is one of the few cities only worth going to once during the story and there’s never any reason whatsoever to go back there, while every other place always has an alternative purpose. But CDS is just a filler town with absolutely no purpose whatsoever than to have a ferry.

Also, about the not going back to Corel Prison, why would you want to go back there? The only reason I can think of is if you forget to learn Laser and have to wait until the north crater for it.

Please read who is in the current battle, Not just who you happen to see on the page. It is rather annoying. I realise it can be a mistake. If you do make a mistake, Edit your current post. DONT POST AGAIN PLEASE, Just makes things so much harder.

That is what you call a close battle. But the Corel Prison just sneaks through with 1 extra vote.

Next up we have……..

Wutai – A nice Japanese full o paper doors, Shinto roofs a big ole statue that contains some magical fire and a Pagoda to boot, Oh my. This is the home town of Yuffie, Who finds it a nice thing to rob your ass and leave you to go against soldiers and of course dear ole Rapps with just brute force, although you do get to say Bye Bye to Don Corneo here. I almost forgot this is also where you can gain Leviathan if you complete the sidw Quest of Yuffies tower climb.

Bone City – The city in which you can dig until your hearts content, It contains the Lunar Harp which you need to go through the sleeping forest. It also contains a few items of use. Main one being the Keycard to Midgar. The town itself has nothing else to offer bar this. But an interesting visit no less.

Being a Yuffie fan and liking the whole Japanese style. I will go for Wutai on this occasion.

Wutai never really appealed to me to be honest. The music got on my nerves and that whole side story with Yuffie stealing your materia was a bitch if stumbled across to early on in the game.

Also, Nail Bat ftw!

So Wutai Pull through here to win, But saw a bit of competiton in the form of the bone city which just crumbled before its hurdle.

Next up we have…..

Shinra Mansion – This is not somewhere thats techincally classed as a town but it still got entered anyway. This is where Sephiroth learns the truth about his mother and what he truely is (etc etc you have all seen it 100 times over) This is also where you find Mr Dark and Broody sleeping his life away in the coffin.

Junk Ship Randomly the two "non" towns got drawn out together against each other. This is the first time you leave Junon and make your way to Costa Del sol, With all your party dressed up as as sailors, You see a very sick Yuffie and a Marshmellow like Barret. You also fight a piece of Jenova here after a brief encounter with Sephiroth.

Im gonna pick the Shinra Mansion because I always the man swinging on the axe a great source of hilarity and made that place fun to visit.

The Cargo/Junk Ship was pretty cool. To wake up to nearly the whole crew being murdered was pretty brutal/cool

liked the battle with Lost Number in Shinra Mansion, the basement was pretty cool, and you get Vincent there.

I thought it had a pretty nice creepy atmosphere. Also, while some of the enemies were annoying (pumpkins) I thought that guy on the swinging blade was superb along with Ying/Yang.

Backgrounds were nicely done too. Very detailed.

Nice number of votes there im glad to see. The mansion wins the majority vote sending it to the next round as the Junk ship goes adrift lost at sea.

Rocket Town – This is Cid Highwinds home town and is home to a rather crooked rocket, Hence its name Rocket Town. It also is home to a lovely lady named Shera who gets a load of shit from Cid, but is a very kind natured lady. You receive the Tiny Bronco here after watching the fat bastard Palmer get run over by a truck. Good times for all.

Gold Saucer Chocobo Racing, Battles for money, Roller Coaster shooting games, A Romantic Ferris Wheel and a Hangman Inn Keeper oh my. Its fun fun fun!!! for the whole family here if you have the money of course. You also receive Cait Sith as a team mate here along with getting the Keystone to the ancients along with a few fancy items to boot.

Even though the gold Saucer is a fun place to go, I am going to vote for Rocket Town As I like the story they built up around it, Including going in to space and the whole Cid/Shera byline.

That old fuck gives you a damned good weapon.

I never really enjoyed the GS too much to be honest. I just hated that annoying music and apart from the Bike game there wasn’t much else to do. However, Rocket Town is my favorite town outside of Midgar. Great music that perfectly sums up the towns atmosphere, superb backdrops and that guy that locked himself in the toilet was awesome.

GS was slightly too extravagant for my liking.

The Gold Saucer’s music just pissed me off. Also, the whole Shera/Cid thing in Rocket Town was pretty cool.

Closer then I expected but gold Saucer sneaks through with that extra vote, So we say goodbye to Rocket town and rack up to more opponents.

Temple Of The Ancients – Anyone who needs this explaining to them really never paid much attention to this game, Therefore I am not going to put an explanation in, The name tells you all you need to know.

Mideel – This quaint little village is where cloud ends up after falling in to the lifestream. Its also where you delve in to his memories to bring him back to reality. Weapon also decides to attack this little town, And who can forget the crazy chocobo lady who is buyin everything and anything because the world is about to end.

Mideel Simply because I love the crazy chocobo women. Plus the fact you have the lil dog which is always so happy to see you.

Finding your way through that place was annoying as hell, but, the difficulty of doing it plus the Demon’s Gate boss made it one of the few genuinely challenging areas in the game.

Mideel was cool while it was standing, though.

Apart from the fact that it had arguably one of the best soundtracks in FFVII it was just an awesome location. Everything from finding Barrets boxing glove weapon to following the mildly retarded guy through the doorways. Superb.

Also, the sequence with Sephiroth explaining about meteor was pretty creepy.

Otherwise I would have almost for sure picked Mideel.

With not even a hint of competition the temple prays on another enemy in the next round.

Next up….

Sector 7 Slums – The first few hours of the game revolve around this little area, It leads to all the other sectors of the slums including Wall Market and Aeris’s house. The bit in this battle though is where Tifa’s 7th heaven resides and is crushed by the pillar just before you leave Midgar for a long portion of the game.

Corel – Barrets home town, A broken down crumbling town, The first time you travel there you go along what appears to be a very long train tracj which always reminds me of an theme park ride. The town itself leads to gold Saucer, You also have to protect it from a speeding train later in the game which grants you the Ultima materia if you succeed.

In this case I prefer Sector 7 Slums because Corel for me was there as a gateway to Gold Saucer nothing more.

It’s about as intricate and voluminous as sector seven, and sector seven doesn’t include wall market I believe..just the train graveyard, small path with the dilapidated CAT digger, the park, stores/residential/man in sewer, 7th Heaven bar, and Aeris’ house/garden..and the church? and the pillar..

Corel includes the reactor Shinra posted there, but it’s not as great as Nibelheim. It’s just more normal than a game version of a slum.

Highwind – Cid’s pride and Joy which was stolen away from him by the Shinra but is stolen back by your party later in the game, It is an airship and provides you with easy travel to any place in the land of FFVII with a few obvious acceptions of course.

Gaeas Cliff- This lovely mountain is a great conquest which you must climb both outside and explore on the inside as well, It has deadly icicles, Rolling boulders of ice, Even a Malboro or two. Plus of course Schizo which no one can forget.

Highwind personally as I enjoy the storyline that plays out with Cloud and Tifa on there when they ask everyone to leave and think about what they wish to do.

The Highwind was a little bland as a location for me.

Great puzzles, and although long and drawn out I loved what it all led up to.

Highwind’s music annoyed me. Too fucking jolly with the big red ball of death in the sky.

So the Highwind flies through to the next the next round while Gaeas cliff remains frozen to the spot.

Chocobo Farm – This lil ole place not far from the land of Kalm and Midgar is the place where you can raise all your lil baby chocobos, Nothing more to be said.

Gelnika The ship you dont know has sunken unless you happen to come across it, Contains a few useful items and some of the most powerful monsters in the game, There is also a bonus fight Vs Rude and Reno in here.

Simply for the fact that they are so adorable and I love the dance they do the first time you are there I have to say Chocobo Farm

Ahem… the Ancient Forest is different than the Sleeping Forest. The description you gave is the Sleeping Forest, the Ancient Forest is the one near Cosmo Canyon with the FROGS and the spiky plants and where you get Typhoon summon and you need a Chocobo to get there.

Birth of a god for me as I actually consider it a good fitting piece of music and quite enjoy it, Regardless of the fact its got to do with Sephiroth.

My humble opinion is that it’d be easiest to continue from where we left off, if possible.

Or you can do a different subject… for the record though, I would suggest sticking with music and starting over. Because later people won’t want to do music because it’s been done before, but this didn’t go very far.. people said that about FFX music and when I checked the records the last FFX music rumble was over three years ago and only included 15 or 16 songs.

arthurgolden, that’s what most of us would want, but I think whoever’s taking over should have a right to do what they want, I know I would if it was me.
Besides, I wouldn’t continue this one, Boink could have had brackets set and everything and something else planned, no one really knows. New person in charge should == new rumble. It’s the safest bet. If Boink were to come back, we continue from here.

All I know is that if I were Boink and came back, I would be less pleased seeing people continue from where it was left, than seeing them scrap it and start over. If I were to suddenly disappear (which won’t happen), I would want the X and X-2 rumbles untouched and I would be pretty pissed off if someone continued them from where I had it set, and a little less pissed if they started over.

EDIT: Also, just a suggestion in case Boink DOES come back and want to continue, close this thread and have Withope do a new one. Not only would it keep it reserved, it would also avoid confusion, seeing as Boink has a list posted and all.

Let’s wait until June 4th and if he’s not back, we vote on continue current rumble or start new rumble. yay, nay?

They both are also very moving pieces, but I’m going to go with Cid’s Theme because the serious undertone of the song seems to be more captivating for me rather than the upbeat and fun overtone of the main theme variation, Highwind Takes to the Skies.

Also, Withope, I suggest you bold both participants in each round. It looks so much better presentation wise.

I always thought Highwind Takes To The Skies was too cheerful when Meteor was looming over the planet… Cid’s Theme is the better track (imo) anyway.
