forgive me if this is against the rules or anything, but a while back I downloaded a torrent of old LucasArts Adventure Games and now I’m wondering how exactly do I install them?

EDIT: also is there a way you can buy these games fair and square for Windows XP?

If by Lucasarts Classics, you mean games like the Monkey Island Series, Sam & Max Hit the Road, The Dig, Full Throttle and such, I’m not sure if they’d even run on a pc with Windows XP.

Same with Lucasarts Space Combat sims, X-Wing and Tie Fighter (Both good games imo).

If there IS a way for that to be done, I’d definately be interested, as I still remember playing some of these great games, specifically Sam & Max.

Yet, seeing as Lucasarts is focusing mainly on the Star Wars franchise, I don’t know if they’d re-release these older games. I have heard rumours of a company apparently buying the rights to Sam & Max and is apparently working on a new game, but I discount those, due to the fact there’s no evidence to back it up.

Still… it would be nice to have these games make a comeback, yes?

LucasArts has rereleased all their old adventure games as Windows XP/Vista compatible titles that don’t even need installation – just pop the disc in and boom, instant goodness. Considering that these are the full voice versions, I suggest buying them – especially since they’re only $9.95 in Australia, which means they probably cost about a nickel in America.

Also, TellTale Games is making new Sam ‘n’ Max adventure games in episodic format – all of Season 1 is available now, and Season 2 is currently in production. You can pick those up for $10 each off Steam.

Finally, the best way to get the older titles working if you have them is SCUMMVM – google it. It’s designed specifically to run all games based on the SCUMM engine that LucasArts developed for Maniac Mansion and all their subsequent adventure games up to Curse of Monkey Island. Best thing about SCUMMVM is that it’s available for the PSP.

could you perhaps provide an amazon link or whatever to where I can purchase that?:naughty:

I’d gladly pay for them if it’d be easier to get them to work

ScummVM is a free download – all you need are the files that should be in the torrent you downloaded, and ScummVM can load them.

Also, the re-release games don’t seem to be on Amazon, but check the ‘cheap’ PC section of your local game store, and they’ll probably be there.
