I love the sound of a real brassy orchestra. The sampling sounds is less interesting for me. I would like to receive recommandations on composers or videogames soundtracks to look for.

I really like Michael Giacchino and all the Medal of Honor+++.
I also like:

Indiana Jones Emperor’s Tomb
Warcraft
Bladestorm The Hundred Years’ War +++
Lair +++
Uncharted Drake’s Fortune
Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix, James Hannigan
Superman Returns, Colin O’Malley
Jeremy Soule

I’m a trombone player. I don’t care about games, I love music! And it’s hard to discover new video games music while I don’t play games!

Last week I went to see Video Games Live in Montral. I discovered God of War! Interesting!

So, I hope many of you, guys, will help me discover stuff I ignore, even if it’s not new releases. I know movie soundtrack, but I’m new in video games music. (For those who know him, I’m a huge fan of old syuff of Elliot Goldenthal like Interview with a vampire, Sphere, etc.)

Thanks!

Good Luck!

These are the titles:

Tales of Legendia <— 100% Authentic Orchestra!! Or.. more likely Modern Orchestra…

Folklore <—- Simply Beautiful

Kingdom Hearts I and II <—- Real Orchestra background music on credit. That means, you must complete the game… but that doesn’t matter if you just download the music anyway..

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children <—- it’s a ‘Rockchestra’ actually… but there are also some tracks that use 100% Orchestra…

Suikoden V <— (only on the opening movie) Orchestra mixed with Asian traditional music genre… bizarre, eh?

… This sounds ridiculous to me. Why don’t you just play games anyway? It’s not especially hard. It can be very entertaining and, perhaps in fewer cases, emotionally moving. And it certainly makes the music very much better.

Why do you want videogame music when you hate games? Just get normal orchestra music instead.

I’m a big fan of Oblivion’s soundtrack. I think it was recorded by a real orchestra and its very epic-sounding in my opinion.

I would recommend the "Hyrule Field Theme" from [I]The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[I]. Also, music of Yoko Kanno, most notably [I]Cowboy Bebop[I]. The music for the anime was very good and I’m sure it’s the same for the video game version. If you like big band music then [I]Bebop[I] is definately for you.

Thanks to those who gave m suggestions! I wait for more.

To answer some of you, I don’t hate games! I just don’t take time to play. There is a big difference: I can do something else while I listen to music. I can’t do anything else while I play games.

I appreciate classical music but it doesn’t sound the same way. In video game music, the sonority is more actual. There are new rules in the way to write new music! And it’s clear to me when I listen to video game music!

… I still hope to receive recommandations! Thanks.
