Whenever anyone ask me about great fight scenes in anime, the first one that always, ALWAYS springs to mind is the final fight in Ninja Scroll between Jubei Kibegami and Lord Himuro Gemma. There are probably others that I may enjoy more nowadays, but that one was the first that made me go "wow".

I’d have to disagree – Although it’s a cool fight, the only real exciting part (in my opinion) was when the blind swordsman (Utsutsu Mujuro) is forcing Jubei backwards with a flurry of swipes, and Jubei can only defend as he’s running backwards. Other than Mujuro tilting his sword to reflect sunlight into Jubei’s eyes, nothing much else happens until the end.

But with the Gemma fight… you have a dislocated arm, a 19-hit combo, a flurry of headbutts etc. And it’s all done on a burning ship that is sinking at sea… "Wow"

Granted yes there’s quite a bit more action but the blind swordsman was way more skillful and moved more gracefully than any of the other people Jubei faced and his defeat was nearing certainty.

Ichigo’s early period’s best fight should go with Byakuya

The fight did become a bit drawn out, but with all the build up behind it you had to love it.

Ichigo’s best fight was against Kenpachi jftr.

Zaraki Kenpachi is pure win. He would even survive a wack from Prak’s 10.000 post E-penis.

Well, I havn’t seen the series in years, but to the best of my memory the battle was the high point of the climax. Like I said, it become a bit drawn out. But eventually they shut up and got on with it. In my opinion, the series went downhill after that.

Well, I have to admit that I’m a lot more demanding now than I was years ago when I originally watched the series, but even back then, I was completely disappointed with the ridiculously contrived way the arc ended.

"Hey, we need to drag this out a lot longer, so let’s throw away everything in the plot that’s remotely epic and make it a series of been-there-done-that one-on-one fights."

The sad thing is that it would have been a much better resolution if they had simply done the final battle while Shishio’s thugs were trying to burn Kyoto. Better setting. More opportunities for neat set piece battles. And it would have been a hell of a lot more memorable.

If you ask me, both fights prior to the Kenshin-Shishio battle were far superior, especially his fight against Aoshi Shinomori appealed way more to me.
